The Global Sexual Revolution: Destruction of Freedom in the Name of Freedom

Rate this book
The core of the global cultural revolution is the deliberate confusion of sexual norms. It is the culmination of a metaphysical revolution as well—a shifting of the fundamental ground upon which we stand and build a culture. Instead of desire being subjected to natural, social, moral, and transcendent orders, the identity of man and woman is dissolved, and free rein given to the maximum fulfillment of polymorphous urges, with no ultimate purpose or meaning.

Gabriele Kuby surveys gender ideology and LGBT demands, the devastating effects of pornography and sex-education, attacks on freedom of speech and religion, the corruption of language, and much more. From the movement’s trailblazers to the post-Obergefell landscape, she documents in meticulous detail how the tentacles of a budding totalitarian regime are slowly gripping the world in an insidious stranglehold. Here on full display are the re-education techniques of the new permanent revolution, which has migrated from politics and economics to sex. Kuby’s courageous work is a call to action for all well-meaning people to redouble their efforts to preserve freedom of religion, freedom of speech, and the freedom of parents to educate their children according to their own beliefs.

“Mrs. Kuby is a brave warrior against ideologies that ultimately result in the destruction of man.”—POPE BENEDICT XVI

“As the carnage of untrammeled sexual license piles up in cultures that have embraced sexual revolutionary ideology, we need the kind of sober and thoughtful analysis Gabriele Kuby provides. Her work will help readers understand that false visions of freedom are highways to slavery, and that true freedom is to be found in self-mastery and virtue.”—ROBERT P. GEORGE

“Gabriele Kuby maps the topography of horror that sex unleashed from the moral order visits upon any society that allows it. She also offers a strong, much-needed dose of moral realism that offers a way out of an otherwise totalitarian result.”—ROBERT R. REILLY

German sociologist Gabriele Kuby has been warning the public about threats to society and dangers to the Catholic Faith for years. She has warned of the excesses of the cultural revolution of 1968, offered a critique of the ideology of feminism, and warned of the destructive effects of the sexual revolution. But what makes her especially qualified to speak about such matters is that she herself was a revolutionary soixante-huitard before converting to the Catholic Faith in 1997.

Born in Konstanz, Germany, in 1944, Kuby studied sociology in Berlin and completed her Master’s degree in Konstanz under Ralf Dahrendorf in the late 1960s. For several decades before her conversion, she dabbled in esoteric material and worked as a translator and interpreter. Her first book, Mein Weg zu Maria—Von der Kraft lebendigen Glaubens (My Way to Maria—by the Power of the Living Faith), published by Bertelsmann Verlag in 1998, is a diary of her encounter with Christ and her life-changing conversion.

Since then she has published ten other books about faith and spirituality, the 1968 cultural revolution, feminism, gender and sexuality, and how to find hope through a reaffirmation of Christian values.

Kuby is a frequent lecturer in Germany and around Europe, and has written for numerous print and on-line publications in Europe, including the Die Tagespost in Germany, Vatican Magazin in Germany, and www.kath.net. She has also been a guest on talk shows aired by German public service broadcasters ARD and ZDF, as well as global television network EWTN.

In 2012, Kuby’s latest book, Die globale sexuelle Revolution: Zerstörung der Freiheit im Namen der Freiheit (The Global Sexual Revolution: Destruction of Freedom in the Name of Freedom), was published by Fe-Medienverlag in 2012.

Mam trójkę dzieci w wieku ok. 30 lat. I chcę, by moje dzieci miały przyszłość, chcę, by społeczeństwo miało przed sobą przyszłość. Jan Paweł II, wasz i nasz wielki papież, sformułował pojęcia „cywilizacji śmierci” i „cywilizacji życia”. I rzeczywiście, żyjemy w kulturze śmierci, co pokazują nam wskaźniki demograficzne. Dlaczego politycy nie angażują wszystkich sił, by zmienić trend demograficzny? Ideologia Gender chce zniszczyć tożsamość kobiety i mężczyzny. Jest więc skierowana przeciwko rodzinom. Jest skierowana przeciwko macierzyństwu. To jest niszczycielska ideologia przyspieszająca negatywne procesy w sposób przerażający.

'You can free things from alien or accidental laws, but not from the laws of their own nature. You may, if you like, free a tiger from his bars; but do not free him from his stripes. Do not free a camel of the burden of his hump: you may be freeing him from being a camel. Do not go about as a demagogue, encouraging triangles to break out of the prison of their three sides. If a triangle breaks out of its three sides, its life comes to a lamentable end.' G.K. Chesterton, Orthodoxy (Quote used at the start of Chapter 7)

November 24, 2023 Update: This is one of those books that shows how the water temperature has been gradually turned up on us over the years ... until we are all slowly being boiled to death and very few are jumping out of the pot. Soon it will be too late.

As I was reading it seven years ago, I had to keep stopping for what I called 'decency' checks. Kuby wrote about all the concerted effort to thwart, pervert and destroy all that is good about life, nature, family and love ... and I kept thinking how can there possibly be any more?! And yet there was!

When I finished it, I was overwhelmed and unable to write a review. I intended to go back after some time had elapsed, but let it go and now it has been too long. I need to reread the entire thing, but I keep procrastinating as I know it will depress me. And yet for the sake of my grandchildren, I still want to.

An eye-opener. Not an easy read due to some grim and disturbing details in certain chapters that could upset the more emotionally labile, however, it's a very important book that everyone should read. It deals with the corruption in the U.S. government, the UN and EU, and exposes the hypocrisy and the hidden agendas of the modern left movement (feminism, gender mainstreaming, sexualization of youth etc.).

More detailed review to come.

A very good analysis of the concept of 'ideology', with good references. You might compare this book with Hannah Arendt's "The Origin of Totalitarianism". I recommend this book as a study of concrete cases and casuistic.

Gabriele Kuby is a hero of our time: brave enough to stand against a sea of troubles, to oppose a deluge of delusions and to name the true names of ideological cliches and dehumanising constructs of the postmodern, posthuman and even postsexual mindset. I would love to meet Mrs. Kuby in person to shake her hand with heartfelt gratitude for her humane, warm-hearted, loving and uncompromising stand in the name of truth!

Great analysis. I am very happy that a quote by Chesterton was included because I had never heard of him before.

***3/4

The author is a dysgenist and at core a strict democratic egalitarian (which limits her ability to constructively destruct the result of egalitarianism taken to its logical extreme) who interprets everything through the single perspective of Catholic teaching on sexuality. She doesn't consider the implications of other perspectives (such as evolutionary biology and psychology and human biodiversity) even when they'd be complementary to her argument (or even strengthen it, or require the refinement of it beyond proclamations about 'mankind in general', muddying her statistics), giving her book an unfortunate repetitive narrowness.

She gives no thought to why the sexual revolt arose when and where it did in the first place. She's content with it being an ex machina development and does not diligently search for philosophical and social precursors to it, except for, typically, laying all of the blame at the feet of the eugenicists and the Nazis, however tendentiously.

The book is also much more relevant to the EU and Germany (the author's nation and original audience) than to North America, but it is nevertheless a treasure trove of the libertines' playbook and the sources of gender ideology activism. The chapter on the capture of the UN by activist bodies (and the 'independent' bodies' government funding) and the Yogyakarta Principles are alone worth the purchase price.

It is still the best and most well-researched book I've found on the sexual revolutionaries and gender ideologues I've yet read.

At times it can seem that the cultural shift happening in our country with regard to morality is a natural movement towards a better society. This book does a wonderful job of exposing the truth behind this reality. The fact is, we are moving in the wrong direction and it is not due to widespread agreement among people but a few people in control of information and influence who are pushing the right buttons, using the right language, and causing good people to choose evil.

I don't think that this book is perfectly written. It is clear that the anger of the author inspires a certain tone which at times moves away from the facts or at the very least only presents one side of the argument. But it is the side which is often hidden in the public sphere, the side which no one talks about out of fear of persecution. It is also initially written in German with many examples in Germany, although it is adapted beautifully into English.

At the beginning of the book it seemed like the author was head-hunting a little, but I especially liked the later chapters which dealt with the major issues of today and explained the real persecution out there against Christians which gets no coverage whatsoever.

Finally, I enjoyed the approach of arguing that these viewpoints are not protecting our freedom but in fact undermining it. This is the best premise to demonstrate because it is the most clear. Certain things are being proposed as rights which are negating other rights (often against religious freedom) which have been universally accepted and taken for granted for a long time. This seems to be the most clear message which I took from this book. I can now recognize and identify key organizations and forces which are making these things happen.

I recommend this book, despite its one-sided nature, because it shows much which has been ignored and hidden for quite some time.

If I had read this book before the Brexit referendum I may have voted to leave the EU. Why has gender mainstreaming become so pervasive if it is only 2 - 5 percent who identify as LGBTQ+? This book provides at least a few answers at a high level. This is not the book to provide deep answers but it scratches the surface enough to get one thinking. The author slides past the Catholic Church’s sexual abuse issue too quickly and quotes from some less than academic sources. However, for a high level view of propaganda related to gender, this book is useful.

Amen!

Gabriele Kuby fearlessly tackles one of the most pressing issues of our time the deliberate confusion of sexual norms and the far-reaching consequences it has on our culture. Kuby's work is nothing short of a clarion call to conscientious individuals to stand against the encroachment of ideologies that threaten the very fabric of our society.

The author skillfully navigates through the intricate web of gender ideology, LGBT demands, pornography, sex education, attacks on freedom of speech and religion, and the corruption of language. Kuby's meticulous detailing of the movement's evolution, from its trailblazers to the post-Obergefell landscape, paints a vivid picture of the insidious stranglehold that a budding totalitarian regime is exerting on the world.

What sets Kuby's work apart is her courage to address the uncomfortable truths surrounding the dissolution of traditional norms. Drawing from a wealth of research, she offers readers a sober and thoughtful analysis of the consequences of unchecked sexual revolutionary ideology. Her insights, endorsed by eminent figures such as Pope Benedict XVI, Robert P. George, and Robert R. Reilly, provide a compelling argument against false visions of freedom that, as she convincingly argues, can lead societies down a perilous path to slavery.

Pope Benedict XVI aptly describes Gabriele Kuby as a "brave warrior against ideologies that ultimately result in the destruction of man." This sentiment resonates throughout the book, as Kuby fearlessly exposes the re-education techniques of a new permanent revolution that has extended its reach from politics and economics to the very core of human sexuality.

In a world where the consequences of unbridled sexual license are increasingly evident, Kuby's work serves as a vital guide. Her call to action implores well-meaning individuals to redouble their efforts to preserve fundamental freedoms—freedom of religion, freedom of speech, and the freedom of parents to educate their children according to their own beliefs.

"The Global Sexual Revolution" is a compelling and necessary read for those seeking to understand the roots of contemporary societal challenges and looking for a way forward. Gabriele Kuby's courageous exploration offers a beacon of hope for those who believe in the importance of preserving the moral order in the face of a cultural revolution.

If the norm of the society is corrupted, then objective journalism is corrupted too, for it must not challenge the norm. It must accept the norm.
~ David Halberstam

Although I disagree with a lot of Kuby's views, The Global Sexual Revolution is a well written book about the progression of sexual freedom in the West. Gabriele Kuby doesn't hide her devotion to the Catholic Church, and lives by its morals and rules: in her opinion marriage is a sanctified union set by God for one man and one woman. Despite this underlying foundation, the book is not preachy in tone but offers extensive background information (with references) about the power of NGOs and the UN, and how they shaped the way we look at sexuality in Europe.
"Since Marx's time, revolutionary propaganda has wrapped itself in the cloak of "science" and at the same time betrayed the very essence of science - the unbiased search for the truth."
I share the view that society should not be forced to "progress" through political reform or government mandates, but I disagree with the author's opinion that homosexuality is immoral on principal. Nevertheless, I pride myself with a tolerant mind, and I'm thankful to live in a space where every opinion is allowed to be expressed without being outright labeled as hateful or phobic.

This book is...ok. I agree with the author on the issues, about the evil of the sexual revolution, feminism, homosexuality, etc.

I was hoping that the author, like a good German, would give a deeper, more philosophical treatment of the sexual revolution, but this book isn't that. She is also very scattered. She writes about the US government promoting abortion, then the EU promoting "gender mainstreaming," then she changes course and writes about the use of language in propaganda, then the role of the Rockefellers and George Soros and Bill Gates funding this revolution. She tries to address way too much in her book, and therefore doesn't adequately treat any individual topic well. For any orthodox Catholic who reads Lifesitenews (the book's publisher), there is little material in this book that is new or original.

A much better book is "Defending A Higher Law: Why We Must Resist Same-sex 'Marriage' and the Homosexual Movement" or "The New Politics of Sex."

Our society today is opsessed with sex in all shapes and formes. Sex is promoted in science, education, kindergartens, sexual minorities that costitute less than 1% if population are protected by law and tradition, families, male-female love, rights of unborn etc. are considered outdated and are agressivly attacked.
Mrs. Kuby's book The Global Sexual Revolution is great book and I recommend it to everybody who wants to have some insight on why is our culture the way it is. Author goes from beggining of sexual revolution, their main ideologes to the methods of spread and whole plan of completly change of whole society.
The most disturbing part of the book is when author starts talking how activists and ideologs are trying to spread sexualy deviant behaviour to children with the help of goverment. That part is horrible and disturbing beyond belife.
Once again I higly recommend this book to everybody, especialy parents. Protect your children at all costs.

This is an overview of the sexual revolution in general, and the LGBT movement in particular, from an international perspective. The author is German, and the book was translated into English. The strongest point about this book is that it shows the totalitarian nature of the sexual revolutionaries and LGBT activists. The reason I did not give it a higher rating is because there is a great deal about the European Union and the United Nations that may be of less interest to American readers. Also, the author is an adult convert to Catholicism, so parts of it are specifically from a Catholic perspective. (Full disclosure: I am cited twice in the footnotes of this book.)

Ok, boomer.

Compelling reading for anyone who wants to understand the rapid rise of a completely new ideology about human sexuality and how it is being imposed on us through multiple strategies by a powerful global elite; who is funding it and why; how our institutions are collaborating and why; and some of the chilling implications of all this. The content is well-researched and convincing; the writing and structure could be improved (hence the 4*s).

Great summary of the challenges society faces

Gabriele Kuby has done immense service by bringing to light the totalitarian impulse latent behind the global sexual revolution . She provides many concrete examples to demonstrate the full scope of the problem, and challenges readers to resist through strengthening families and spiritual renewal.
