Black & Ugly #2

Black & Ugly as Ever

Rate this book
The gang you fell in love with returns from the street classic Black & Ugly!
Parade Knight finally gets what she wants, a man of her own, despite hating her own dark skin. But as the nights grow longer and her sexual encounters become more frequent with her fiancé Smokes, she wonders why she still can't seem to get her old flame Jay Hernandez off her mind. Faced with choosing between the man who proposed and the man she loves, she doesn't see a set-up coming, but it may be too late.
Daffany's heart is heavy as she battles with the disease that haunts her body, and the poison she places in her blood. But when she's unable to afford her drug of choice, she's given a cheap alternative and it takes her on an all time high.
Miss Wayne's colorful antics go to the next level as he fights to keep their friendship together. But when it becomes apparent that he's all alone in his efforts, he wonders if they'll ever be the same.
Black & Ugly As Ever is a warm street tale with a coldhearted truth. That if you don't pick yourself up when you fall, you'll be a doormat for others. You'll laugh, cry and feel a part of these childhood friends lives as they dodge danger to keep things together.
This beautiful sequel has finally arrived!

Pretty quick read for me because I was anxious to read the second book. First I would like to point out that I KNEW there was something off about Smokes, but anyway. I loved the transition and character change of Parade. She went -literally- from being black and ugly as ever, to something beautiful, however, her attitude reminded me (and Miss Daffany and Miss Wayne) of Sky's rude a*s. But it was the irony of her character being so similar to Sky, someone who treated her the worst and made her believe she was just black and ugly, that made it more interesting to read. I fell in love with Jay in this book, I wasn't much of a fan of his from the first book. I hope there is a third book or something, because this series is too good to end now.

4 stars. Page turner from beginning to end. I started with Black and Ugly and I loved it. I am glad I picked up both books. Disappointed that Black and Ugly is not listed on here so that I can also give it 4 stars. I hated to put the book down. I was planning just to read a couple of chapters a nite but had to finish. Love how T. Styles unfolds the story and adds a side of humor. Another good read. Can't wait to read more of this author's work.

Parade Knight and her friends are back...minus Sky, and a lot has changed. Parade is engaged to the person responsible for her best friend’s death (while being in love with her ex); Miss Wayne is living with his boyfriend (Keith the cop), while continuing his criminal career; and Daffany is battling an addiction.

This book was just as good as book 1, but there were quite a few errors. For that reason alone, I’m giving it 💎💎💎💎. It has surely earned a spot on my “Best of 2019...Series Edition.” Once again, my hat’s off to @authortstyles.

This story consistently proved that true friendship has no boundaries. The remaining friends, Miss Wayne, Miss Parade & Miss Daff's lives continued to hold much drama. Miss Wayne kept humor in the story-- Daff was truly a fighter & Parade finally started to see her true self. Although I didn't particularly care for Smokes-in a way, he did help Parade...It was also good to see Jay finally come to his senses. T. Styles has a knack for showing such versatility in her characters & that keeps me wanting to read more of her books. Great storyline & content as this is another series that I highly recommend!

After I read the first one in 8the grade it took me 2 years to find out there was a book 2 and I remember looking everywhere for it. I was excited when I finally found it and it was worth the wait. I was happy when Parade got her happy ending with Jay. But I felt like she was a little weak in this book. The ending was sweet because all three friends were happy and didn't have any problems being thrown at them anymore.

I wan't going to read this book after the first but it came across my feed and I made the decision to go for it. I'm glad I did and will definitely be reading the follow up books. I got involved in the lives of Parade, Miss Wayne and Miss Daffany and the struggles they were going through. I had some ideas of the ending and some were confirmed and others weren't. It left me in a place where I want to read the next book.
My critisism is that the book wasn't proofread properly and there were a lot of words that didn't belong in a sentance that people didn't catch and some spelling. For me it takes the enjoyment out of a book. I hope the next one's are edited better.

It has been several years since reading part one and that was a god book. I enjoyed reading this part it kept my interest and I wanted to hurry up to know how it ended. The book touches a friendship that was tested but the ladies proved that they have a strong true friendship. I love Miss Wayne.

Love love love t.styles..
I don't know how I got hooked on it , but I did.
This is a good series and I was a little depressed when I found out it was ending .. Like why can't she make another one ? But I seen one with miss Wayne so that will be my next read.
This second installment of the series had me blown... Sky is gone which is still a little sad , but ironically parade and her attitude makes you think she took over sky ...
She is involved with smokes who you find is after her for all the wrong reasons ..
Daffany had me all types of worried with the new habit she occured, she has AIDS and is pregnant and that situation made me even more worried . Like damn I kept hoping and praying throughout the book that nothing bad happened to her.

Miss Wayne he is a friend that I always longed for , always there for you regardless of what you guys are going through .. He is gay , but he is such a beautiful gay person.. Through out the whole book you see his true intentions as a friend , even gave up a relationship to be there for his friends .. I love love love him .
Jay is the one that had me in awe. I fricken loved him this book he did a complete 360 in his behavior and made me question why the hell parade was even with smokes to begin with .

This book has lots of twists turns and plots . But I loved it and wish it didn't have to end so quickly .
T.styles is definitely an author I will always be fond of .

This book was a dissapointment:( The first Black and ugly had so much drama and back story and traveled very deep into the mishappens of friendships and a girl trying to find confidence. This book just had a pile of drama that did not make sense and the characters, excluding Ms.wayne, were misplaced and inconsistent. Why would daffany mess with heroin when she's seen what it did to her mother and ecstasy made her feel just fine? This book lived no where near up to the 1st book.

I absolutely loved this book!! I can so relate to majority of my twisted mother's novels because I see myself in a lot of them. Parade was a replica of how I used to view my self as far as being a dark skinned woman until I learned to appreciate how beautiful I truly am!! I appreciate and value a lot of lessons in her books and I will forever be a twisted baby!!

Black & Ugly as Ever is a book I could read a million times & never find it old. I love how the character Parade blossomed into a beautiful swan yet still had some hard lessons to learn. I would love to see another book based on her character
