Abel Lockwood would do anything to become a father—including hiring a company that matches donor mothers with prospective fathers. Love Child caters to wealthy bachelors who’ve been unsuccessful in creating a family through traditional means. Despite Love Child being an unconventional route to take, the conception takes place exactly the way nature intended.
Nearing forty and still single, Abel has accepted he won’t meet the right woman to marry and have a family with, so Love Child is his last hope for becoming a father. He’s gone through the files of the potential donors and handpicked one perfect candidate to create his baby with.
The moment he comes face to face with Adeline Matthews, Abel knows she’s the one. But not just the one he’s hoping to make a baby with. She’s the one he’s hoping to create a family with.
As the blurb already says, Abel would do just about anything to become a father. His yearning for his own child is so strong that he decides to hire Love Child, a company that matches donor mothers with prospective fathers and the conception of the child is done the traditional way. Now, I'm not entirely sure how I feel about this company's policy but I'm happy Abel found a way to make his dreams a reality with the help of it. By chosing from his files of the potential donors that would carry his child, he chose not only the mother of his child but also the woman who would make his dream of a real family complete. Only problem is, how does he convince her that he's the right choice for her?
Reading this story definitely reminded me of Alexa Riley books. They are simply fun to read and make for a great read when you're in a mood for a quick story. Also you know what to expect. You know there is going to be insta love/lust, a hint of angst and lots of sexy scenes. On top of that, these kind of stories do have a nice plot line that is executed right and not just half way through.
What I really liked in Love Child is Adeline's character. She's so down to earth and know her worth. She's a farmers daughter that knows what hard work means and to be honest, I could totally connect with her, since I also grew up on a farm. There is always so much work and when you move to a city, you still have the drive to be in constant motion and just want to do something with your time. Also, she's a girl with such a big heart. So no wonder Abel ended up feeling the way he did about her. And as for Abel, I liked him. He's a workaholic but that slowly changes. He really wants to be a good father and wants Adeline to know that. I was a bit confused about his sexual past, since at the beginning of the story and also the blurb itself says that he tried to have a child the traditional way but was unsuccessful. But by the end of the story we find out that . So that definitely confused me. But oh well, I like to think the later.
All in all, as already said this is a quick fun read and I really enjoyed it. I would recommend it to readers that love smuth stories and are looking for a good time.
Yes, the plot concept is a bit outside de box, which was so refreshing, but it was perfectly executed and I loved every second of it!!!
Abel was the absolute perfect hero, and ladies, be prepared, with this combination of sweet, sexy, dirty talker and wanting a BABY… Ovary explosion guaranteed!!! That’s all I’ll say on him. It went directly to my list of best book-boyfriends! Sigh…
She wasn’t just the most beautiful thing I’d ever seen—she was the most beautiful thing to have ever been created. Sweet smile, angelic face, innocent demeanor—perfection was hovering ten feet in front of me.
Adeline was just as amazing, strong but innocent, and just as incredibly sweet and loving. Truly born with a nurturing nature: the perfect match for Abel – which he realized at very first sight. And fought for, with everything within his power.
I’d never expected to find someone like Adeline through an arrangement with Love Child, but here she was, everything I’d ever wanted. Everything I’d been looking for. Willing my body to mate with hers, begging me to give her the kind of pleasure no man had, offering to create a child with me so I could know the gift of fatherhood. Adeline was so much more than the mother of my child. She was the great love of my life.
And the chemistry, Lordy… These two were so HOT together, as they were incredibly sweet!!! Yes, they had a ‘mission’ in their hands (LOL), but that didn’t detract from the sizzling scenes, quite the contrary! Since they were emotionally invested in the very start, this extra element added a loving and caring layer to the steaminess of the scenes. And this dirty talking was the perfect cherry on top (pun intended)! ;)
“It’s taking every fiber of willpower I have in my possession not to lay you down right here on the kitchen floor and plant my baby in your virgin womb.”
And that delicious twist almost by the end, that is becoming Kat’s trademark, couldn’t have been a better surprise!!! I’m completely addicted to Kat Austen’s fantastic stories and I can’t wait for the next! In my opinion, this one was PERFECT!!! <3 <3 <3
Last night had been about more than our bodies colliding; our souls had as well. Some part of him was inside me now. The same was true for me being inside him.

Pushing my finger inside, I didn’t make it far before I realized she was right. My finger barely fit. How in the hell was I going to fit the beast begging to have his way inside of this snug channel?
That's the age old question, isn't it?
It'll come as a surprise to no one that he did eventually fit his trouser snake deep within the depths of her love channel for some baby makin' action.
Love Child is pretty much exactly what I've come to expect from my quickie KU reads. Both MCs experience the instalove phenomenon upon meeting and don't waste much time moving her in and getting down to business. I did appreciate the fact that Abel was the farthest thing from a manho and was saving himself for the mother of his child. Definitely not something you see everyday, but I commend him for keeping his beast leashed for all of that time.
Now, I was scared because the whole giving up your baby thing, but that turned out to be more of a complicated issue. There was way more to this child making business.
How special is their relationship when they both feel the pull to each other. This is a total keeper and I loved it. If this is how this series plays out then I am in and I will look for other books by this author. I love an author who writes about first love and being true to yourself. Hero falls for the heroine and the heroine falls for the hero.
No OM or OW drama. They are both each other's one and only.
What more can I say everything about this book was sweet and sexy!
Definitely not my cuppa. I know I went against the current. I thought this will be dirty and filthy with a lot of dirty talk like the previous (Educating Emma) but... I don't know if I should cry or laugh. The blurb 'trapped' me to read it. Kat Austen is a new author for me and I still waiting for her next release.
Sorry to say but this one is really like Alexa Riley's vibe. Alpha male and virgin heroine and breeding like a rabbit. The insta-love didn't work for me and there is no chemistry. I couldn't feel their connection. It was hardly believable story but again, this is maybe only me. I guess I will stick to dirty and filthy story for the next. Sweet and fairy-tale like isn't my cuppa for short story.
Genre: - Contemporary Romance Series: - Stand Alone Love triangle? - Cheating? - HEA? - Would I read more by this author/or in this series? - Yes Rating - 3 stars

I am struggling a bit with this one.
On the one hand, getting over the dubiousness of the "Love Child" scenario, and yes it is justified in the book as how a woman can go to a sperm bank, couples can use a surrogate, but just what is a single man to do, well use a super secret company to pay a woman to have a child, only you know, said child is made as nature intended so you know, dress it up how you will but it is hardly like a woman going to a sperm bank.
BUT, we will let it go, it is in the blurb.
It is insta lust! Major major major insta lust.
The heroine I just did not get, not sure how old she was, but she has decided that she is just not going to find someone "worthy" to have a child with, or even "worthy" enough to sleep with, so somehow decides, that she will bestow a child and her virginity on a "worthy" man that she finds through super secret company "Love Child" (Btw, it is so super secret, how does anyone find out about it!?). As she is so good and selfless. Ofc, I am sure the money helped.
Anyway, she was vaguely unlikable for me. Lots of how she is a simple country girl, who knows hard work, she is not like the usual women the hero knows, she is you know, just a simple country girl, who had a thousand siblings to look after, she is so hard working, and so generous in giving her child to a worthy male. Ah, she is just an angel.
There were a couple of times I truly cringed for her tbh. The kitchen scene when he is outside, and then some odd business with a chair!
Ofc, they have the best sex ever, are all proud of themselves as they are obviously pregnant as you know, they had sex like loads and loads and loads.
And super duper in love and pregnant after knowing each other for 0.4573 seconds.
On one hand, it was a bit eye rolly, but it did deliver exactly what it said. You cannot expect more than you have been promised really. So while there were some times I had eye strain from rolling my eyes, I did kind of enjoy it, like candy floss, all sugar and no substance, but is it enjoyable in small doses.
Okay, so it was sweet and safe all around. A ‘poor’ virgin hocking her body to a rich guy for baby making purposes. Sounds the perfect plot for virgin smut.
Now the Q is who introduced this oh-so-sweet-n-innocent farm girl to the secretive agency that helps out rich guys to have babies outside the conventional route.
Untouched she maybe, but she can talk dirty and rock dirty. The h’s unvirginal behavior was off putting to me.
And why the eff was the H
And in spite of the instalove whiplash, I didn't witness any swoon factor or a believable connection.
I am new to this author thanks to some wonderful friends on GR. I totally love her! She is very much like Alexa Riley but she seems to have more of a story involved and a bit more if not stronger use of dirty talk.
This is the third novella I've read of hers so far and also my favorite so far.
This one is not just hot, but it is also sweet and tender.
I love both the OTT hero and the sweet and kind heroine.
I would definately recommend and will certainly read more by this author.
It was just okay for me. I think it's a case of it's me not you...I'm not a huge fan of books with arrangements or contracts. I wanted Abel to have that "mine" mentality right away and not just "baby mama" contract. It was definitely hot though!
If you have read my reviews before, you know that I always try not to spoil anything and to keep them as rant free as possible. But Love Child was so #!?# that I just can't help myself...
Love Child is one of the worst books I have ever read. And I have read a lot of weird stuff. There were books where writing style didn't suit me, those that were out of my comfort zone or too full of cliches. But this one was the most absurd thing that I have ever read. Spoilers ahead! Love Child is agency for single men who want to have a child. The idea is based on the fact that women have sperm banks they can use. But we have first absurd thing right away - the child is not created trough artificial insemination. Yeah you heard me right. So we have rich men who come and pick girls based on looks and then give them a lot of money to have sex with them until they get pregnant. Then they separate, the girl gets monthly allowance and visits (if she wants) and the men gets his kid. Completely original concept, right?
Enters Abel: Handsome workaholic who does not want to pick a girl who will want him for his money. So he goes to an agency and picks a girl ... who wants money in exchange for a kid.
And Adeline: A simple farm girl who was in relationship with a couple of irresponsible guys and concluded that she will never find a good father for her child. So she decided to go to an agency so her child will have the best dad ever... but the same child will see her only once a month and won't even know she is his mother. WTF? Ooops I already said that. WTH?
But wait it gets better! There is insta-love. And boy it's a new record how fast it goes. They meet and she moves in with him the same day. That night she masturbates while watching him doing Tae-Bo. Next day they have sex and she gets pregnant. Instant HEA!
Want more absurdity? Adeline is a virgin. She saved herself for the father of her child. And that's not the weird part. Abel is a virgin too! 35-year old sexy businessmen, who also saved himself for the right women.
And that ending... Abel buys a farm beside Adeline's parents and they move there to live and raise their child in peace and love. *eye roll*
And don't get your hopes up that at least sex scenes will be good. They are not, unless you have a pregnancy fetish. So prepare for gems like: "I want out first orgasms with each other to be from you planting your baby inside of me, Abel."
Read at your own responsibility. You have been warned.
It's been a long time since I've read a novella that felt like it was more. While this is definitely insta everything, it didn't feel so OTT. Nothing wrong with OTT, but this was niiice! Hot, steamy, so sweet with a nice little surprise at the end. Safest read ever. And I need me an Abel!
This was an OTT insta love/lust sweetness overload. I think this was a right book right time kinda thing for me. I had read a couple of really dark reads so this bought some light in.
We were treated to not one but two....................
This was a short nice read that Id recommend to lovers of Alexa Rileys books. It was written well and while being OTT it was done tastefully.
Abel and Adelide were just so sweet. Although their meeting wasn't typical, their insta love was awesome!
-hot sexy alpha -sweet loving heroine -sizzling sex scenes -no cheating -no pushing away -insta love -100% safe -HEA - sweet epilogue but it wasn't far enough out. I would have loved to see what else the future held for them or how many children they ended up having
Love Child is a surrogate erotic romance. Basically the hero wants to have children, but hasn’t found the right woman. So he invests in a service where wealthy men hire women to have their children, and they do it the old fashioned way. LMAO. All that being said it’s a decent read if this is exactly what you’re looking for. It reads like an Alexa Riley with a smidge more meat to the actual story, but the insta-love and baby making is still there.

Love Child by Kat Austen was your sweet, fast paced insta-love romance that was filled with heat and what else love.
Abel Lockwood wants to be a father and so he finds a surrogate mother via the company Love Child. Instead of the usual insemination process, all babies are produced the natural way. When Abel was looking at Adeline Matthews, he knew she was the one and only perfect candidate to be the mother of his child. But what Abel didn’t expect was to fall hard for Adeline and make her more than just the mother of his child. Will Abel be able to show Adeline that he wants her and a baby?
So if you like your romance sweet and sexy, then this quick short story might satisfy all your guilty pleasures if you are a fan of virgin heroines and hot sexy rich alpha males.
ABSOLUTELY loved this awesome concept and story of Abe and Adeline. Instant chemistry, double V card and a super safe breeding smut! You rock Kat Austen. The moments between the main couple were super sweet. 4.5/5
Adeline Matthews Adeline Matthews is a strong and a amazing women who has to save her family farm. She is not sure if she would ever get a chance to start her own family. Her wish to become is strong so she becomes a donor.
Abel Lockwood
Abel Lockwood is a wealthy bachelors who has been unsuccessful in creating a family through traditional means. So he hires a company which cab provide him with a matching donor .He is so desperate for his own child that he hires a company which can provide donor which would agree on old mating or traditional method of conceiving. x------------------------------------------------------x
THIS is a amazing story with both virgins that was a complete shock to me because abel is a sexy, rich, handsome and very much alpha. As for Adeline she is strong, beautiful and intelligent. And any man would fall head over heel for like Abel did .He never taught he would find someone like Adeline through an arrangement with Love Child, but here she was, everything he ever wanted. Everything he had been looking for. Willing to mate with hers, begging me to give her the kind of pleasure no man had, offering to create a child with him so he could know the gift of fatherhood.
The actual company of a Love Child, and its concept seemed distasteful to me: paying a woman to have sex with a man, so he can become a single father.
Other than that I really liked it. Safe, and steamy.
This cracked me up...
I nodded, not even the least bit embarrassed to be a thirty-five-year-old man who had just lost his virginity days ago. It would have been wasted on anyone but Adeline. “And I was yours.”
It shouldn't be funny, but this killed me. For her, I kind of got her virgin status, for him...not really, even though I liked it, I didn't need it considering his devotedness.
If insta-love is your thing, this pick this up :) Abel is hot and his secret had me squealing out loud. It was the perfect way to spend a rainy afternoon :)
*thanks to Ardent PRose for a copy of this in exchange for an honest review*
This one was ok but a little strange. I didn't totally buy the fact that they had to conceive the baby the natural way. The reasoning behind it wasn't sound and it came off as a cheap plot device. Safety: safe, dual virgin, no others after meeting
Abel was ready to be a father, but he never found the right woman he wanted to share that bond with. At thirty five, he was ready to take that into his own hands no matter the cost. Adeline always wanted to be a mother but never found the guy she wanted to be tied to forever. When it came to her family though, she would do whatever to took to help them out. Even if that meant bearing a child to help a man become a father to a child you hardly ever saw. One meeting. One touch. One moment is all it took to know that Adeline would be the mother of his child and all his children after that. Can he convince her to trust him in their forever??
-safe read -dual virgins (this was a shocker for him) -no om/ow drama -wish there was more of an epilogue (9 months out)
I like the attitude of both characters-not just about having a baby, but with their outlook in life. It was fun reading about how both of them squirm when the other is around. ;) Even though I already know where the story was headed, I enjoyed their interactions and light banters.
I admit, everything went too fast that at some point, I felt left behind wanting more details. Anyway, since this is a short read, I guess it was intended to be that way.
Kat Austen has become an automatic one click author for me as I enjoy reading over the top Insta-love with extra dirty sex in it. Not all the time but sometimes I don't want to have to think when I'm reading and I just want to be entertained by smut. Abel Lockwood is a thirty five year old, rich, successful businessman who has devoted his life to work never having time to find a wife. Now he realizes he would like a child but instead of adopting or using a surrogate he discovers the super secret company called Love Child. The company helps rich single men become fathers by matching them with women they employ to carry and give birth to their very own baby. The difference between a surrogate is at Love Child the woman picked to be the mother actually have sex with the client to make things more personal and intimate. Adeline grew up on a farm in the Midwest with several siblings so she understands how important family is and that's why she decides to work for Love Child. She's been unlucky in love so far and figures she'll never meet mister right so instead she wants to help someone who desperately wants a baby. When Abel and Adeline meet to discuss the terms of their contract they both leave knowing things will never be the same again. I loved this story it was so unique and I've never read anything like it and it was steamy as hell.
