SEVEN DAYS A BRIDE

Not so long ago, she'd been planning his wedding to another woman. Now Felicity Farnsworth was sharing his honeymoon suite. It had been a shock when dashing Reid Kelly, the former fiance of one of her best friends, had invited her to join him in Cozumel for one week, no strings attached. Despite all the reasons she'd declined, two reasons made her board the flight: she'd secretly, desperately wanted this to happen -- and so apparently had Reid.

But Felicity had another secret she would never dare divulge to Reid. She wanted more than just one week.

Patricia Ann Kay was born on 7 March 1937 in a small town in northeastern Ohio, USA, where she raised along with three younger sisters. She considers herself a very lucky woman. The family didn’t have a lot of money, but she says that didn’t matter, because what they did have was worth more than money — a happy home. Her parents had a good marriage and they doted on their four daughters. That upbringing is reflected in the stories she writes. As readers all over the world have discovered, her books are filled with warmth and love of family.

Pat has lived in upstate New York, Northern Alabama, Southern California, and Stockholm (Sweden), and since 1969, in Houston, Texas with her husband. She says that no matter where she’s lived, she’s found that people everywhere are the same and want the same things: love and committed relationships. The marriage has three terrific grown children. They currently share their home with two longhaired cats, and a backyard filled with squirrels, birds, and other critters. Her hobbies and other interests include reading, walking for exercise, going to the movies and the theater, swimming, and traveling.

In 1990, Pat sold her first romance novel to Silhouette. Since then, more than four million copies of her novels have been published in eighteen different countries. Today, Patricia Kay, alias Ann Patrick and Trisha Alexander, is an USA Today bestselling author of 50 novels of romance and women's fiction.

Reed, who was rather abruptly dumped by his fiance of two years in the previous book of this series, has been hiding out, trying to avoid the pitying looks and comments in his town and wondering if he's really hurt by his fiance's decision or if it was only his pride that was hurt. When Felicity Farnsworth, the wedding planner and his ex-fiance's best friend, shows up, he's surprised at the attraction between them and realizes it could work to his advantage. The fastest way to get people to stop talking about him is to hook up with someone else, and he decides Felicity fits the bill. He invites her on the honeymoon he'd already bought and paid for. She's initially reluctant, fearing talk and hurting her friend (the ex-fiance), but ultimately decides to go for it, damn the consequences. Both expect to be getting what they want, neither expect to fall in love.

Reed and Felicity had some good chemistry together. It was obvious in previous stories that these two were maybe attracted to each other, but with nothing to stand in their way (except guilt), the attraction could be let loose. And it was. While I couldn't understand why Felicity felt she couldn't talk to Emma about her feelings for Reed, given that Emma had already said she never felt like she was in love with Reed, it was a credit to her character that she at least felt guilty. Reed was a little less ideal in his character. He felt a bit Machiavellian in his decision to get people to stop talking about him by USING Felicity and getting laid in the process. He turned out to be pretty decent to her in the end, but just those initial thoughts really bothered me and made me wonder about the integrity of his character. Yeah, Felicity pretty much knew what he was about and she at least figured he was using her as a rebound, but still. This was a well-written story with an interesting setting and some good character interactions - I just wish I'd liked the hero a bit more.

The One-Week Wife by Patricia Kay is a fairly quick read, a great choice for those with limited reading time. Ms. Kay has delivered a book that is well-written and filled it with fantastic characters. Felicity and Reid's story is packed with drama, humor and spice. I enjoyed reading The One-Week Wife and look forward to reading more from Patricia Kay in the future. The One-Week Wife is book 3 of the Secret Lives Of Society Wives Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.

I read a print copy of this book.

Really liked this couple's story BUT the continuity between the books was kinda I don't know lame? slow? For some reason it just didn't line up properly, can't quite put my finger on it though.
