First challenged by a friend to write a story, Erin has since written numermous online and publish works. Her story Deception, was a GCLS Finalist in 2008. That book also garnered the Sapphic Readers Award in 2009. Story creation involving strong characters always seems to dictate the story and invade her mind at all hours. It always amazes her when the characters she is developing suddenly take on a life of their own and lead the story down a completely different path. She thinks that, when all is done, the characters make an impact on the storyline the story is better for it her.
Widowed Kylie is ready to move on with her life. She takes a job as an archaeology assistant. Her boss, LJ, is something else. She is closed off and antisocial at the best of times. However when she meets the personable and beguiling Kylie she begins to feel things she would rather not. Its not too long before Kylie starts to feel the same. The question is how will she break through the thick walls LJ has surrounded herself with?
Ready for Love is a very sweet romance. I was fascinated by the archaeology parts of the story. I enjoyed watching Kylie and LJ dance around their feelings. I liked how the closed off LJ began to slowly open up and after meeting Kylie's little girl, Ryan, she thaws even more quickly. I loved how the lead characters didn't just jump into bed but instead became friends first. It was important to LJ to go slow, to be sure of both of their feelings This endeared her to me even more. I adored Ryan. Her cuteness came across so clearly. She was so open, funny, happy, carefree and loved unconditionally. She was the perfect segue way for LJ to open herself up to others. All said this was a really, really good book and is already in my 'must read again “ pile
This book was an average read, it didn't really grip me but it didn't completely lose me either. Out of both of the main characters I like the character of LJ the most even if she is a bit too morose and angst filled for my taste. LJ was my favourite character even if I didn't like how she acted, I can't explain it any other way, and Kylie was my least favourite especially once LJ acknowledged their attraction to one another. She was too needy and pushy about the sex thing with LJ even though she said that she understood the need to wait.
I felt that some of the writing was too rushed and the characters went from not being able to be around each other to being head over heels in love in too short a span of time. The only reason i have given this book 3 stars is because of the authors decent writing skills that didn't make reading this book a painful experience.
This was a great story with fantastic characters. LJ, Kylie & Ryan were so interesting! The story dug deep into grief, love and self worth. A good read that kept my interest from beginning to end.
Another great story by Erin O'Reilly! I love how she makes the characters real, with baggage and emotions that make the two main women human. Well done!
