It's the first time I've read Alexandra Brown's novels and this one totally disappointed me. I felt it was boring...boring...boring. Couldn't catch up with the plot and I was on the verge of literally throwing the book away ( I NEVER EVER do that!!) but after so many days I managed to finish reading it.
This however doesn't mean I will not try reading any other book from the same author. Far from it.
I would recommend it though because not all people agree on the same thing. So give it a try people and I hope YOU REALLY enjoy it....more than I did.

THIS BOOK WAS AMAZING! Ahem. It's 3.15am and I've just finished it after starting it just a few hours ago. I read Cupcake's at Carrington's last year but didn't get around to reading Christmas at Carrington's until yesterday (May 23rd). The setting of Carrington's and Mulberry-on-Sea is just wonderful and I would just love to holiday there. As long as I could meet Georgie, I would absolutely love to be friends with her. Georgie is happily in love with Tom, Mr Carrington and thanks to being the star of a reality TV show is somewhat of a celebrity. The real celebrity however appears to be the fantastic Eddie who is now pretty much an A lister with his own TV shows and Simon Cowell on speed dial... He is also managed by Claire Powell!
One of the first things that stood out to me was the writing. With this being Alex's third book, as with most authors, I felt like she is just so much more comfortable and confident with her writing and her characters that it was just a joy to read. The previous two books are both well written and I'm really crap at trying to explain what I mean here! But you can just tell when an author really loves what they are writing about and loves the characters and stories as much as the reader. The world created just feels incredibly realistic and every character was extremely vivid in my mind. When an author puts so much effort and love into a story it really makes it that much more enjoyable for the reader.
This time the story centres around a summer regatta and after two books it makes sense to move the action away from Carrington's but at the same time still have it playing a big role in the book. And of course the setting of Mulberry-on-Sea just works incredibly well for this sort of story. Or so I thought... Unfortunately for Georgie just a few things go wrong and this makes for some pretty shocking and hilarious story lines. Georgie is the face of Carrington's during the regatta and is warned by Tom's formidable mother not to make a mess of it. She also faces obstacles and criticisms from Meredith who is the PA of Mulberry's MP. Alexandra writes such brilliant bitchy characters that you just want to see given a good slap.
Not only does the story take place away from Carrington's, parts of it take place away from Mulberry! And that's all I'm saying on that! It was BRILLIANT and I pretty much went through every emotion with Georgie. She is just a fantastic character. I was happy, sad, laughing my head off and then halfway through the book practically screaming at my Kindle which at 2am in the morning isn't good... Alexandra has written one hell of a story here, just when you think Georgie can't have any more bad luck something else happens. It's written in a way though that you feel sympathy for Georgie but it's hilarious at the same time.
I then had the thought of going to bed and finishing the book in the morning, well, that went out the window and there was no question of me sleeping until I reached the end. I absolutely love this book, the excitement around it on Twitter from other bloggers is huge and I'm sure and hope it'll be a roaring success for Alex. I can't recommend it enough. I'm just wondering whether this is the end of the Carrington's story? I for one hope not as Georgie is a character I could never tire reading about and I'm sure her legion of fans wouldn't either! I would love to read more from Georgie in the future even if it's a short story! Please do not hesitate to buy and LOVE this book.

So for a little light summer reading and to fill the days till I can dive into the new Robert Galbraith novel, I decided to spend some time with the fourth and latest instalment of Alexandra Brown's Carrington's Department Store Series - Ice Creams at Carrington's.
I know summer is the time for a little light reading on the beach and lazy days but I really struggled with this book. We are reunited with all our favourite Carrington's characters from the series, heroine Georgie and her boyfriend, and owner of Carrington's, Tom along with her best friends Sam and Eddie.
It should have been a joy, as the story is based around Georgie trying to arrange the Mulberry on Sea summer regatta but instead I became disillusioned as our heroine appeared to drift further away from her down to earth roots and become somewhat of a want to be 'it girl'. No more are the stories focused around our hard working heroine working in her beloved department store, instead she was attending parties on yachts which had me visualising scenes from Revenge with Georgie in the Emily Thorne role. If not on yachts she was being flow across the world to hoi polloi "Sex & the City" style with her best friend Eddie.
I became even more disheartened that Brown's characters seemed to be becoming more and more stereotypical, her best friend Sam's descent into motherhood blues whilst her other friend Eddie seemed to be nothing more than a poster boy for what narrow minded people view gay men as. He grated on my nerves throughout. It also was the shameless use of words such as 'emosh' instead of emotional or 'amazeballs', I mean really what age are your target audience 14?
All this capped off with the interviews at the end of the book staged with her fictional characters - they aren't real people!
Disappointed and let down, think it's devastating that what started as such a lovely personal series is drifting into a stereotypical chick lit novel which seems to think the way to boost readership is to have our heroine whisked off to a more glamorous life. My question would be that whilst Georgie seems to be getting all she want is it at the readers expense.
Clearly the next book has already been planned, I just pray it returns the lovely Georgie to a more down to earth scenario focused on her lovely little department store.

Ice Cream at Carrington’s is the third and last book in the Carrington series. I loved each and every single one of the books and I was so excited to get back to these characters.
After getting “famous” on national TV, Georgie’s life has changed a bit, her job is different, although she still works at Carrington’s of course and the most important thing: She is still dating Mr. Carrington.
Georgie gets to organize a big event in Mulberry and she is doing her best, with all the obstacles, or should I say weird people in the way. She is a strong and passionate woman and she is funny.
I love reading about Tom and Georgie, they are such an adorable couple and their scenes are always great. Georgie is hesitant when it comes to moving in with Tom.
When she gets an opportiunity to go to New York, she grabs it. It would mean that she is away for her birthday… Tom hands her an envelope, but she never opens it… What about his surprise and will the regatta run smoothly.
I really loved every second of this story, with it’s twists and turns and the perfect amount of drama.
We learn more about Tom’s family, which is great, but also Georgie’s family is included and of course her very best friends Sam and Eddie. The three of them are just awesome!!! Both of her friends have their one real part in the story, without taking something away from Georgie.
This book is FABULOUS!!! My fave in this series, don't ask me why though, cause they are all awesome!!! Alexandra’s writing is passionate, funny, warm, sweet and really refreshing. I couldn’t put this book down!!! I loved following Georgie’s story and I really adored the last few scenes. It felt like watching a movie, which is a really good thing!!!

Sorry Alexandra, this book was one too many, too many things went wrong too much was predictable. I realise ends needed to be tied up from the first two books but I was disappointed with the constant drama. This is is purely my view and I don't want to put others off.

Having read the other books in this series, I was looking forward to reading this one. However I have to say I was very disappointed. I actually went off the main character Georgie and, although the book is passable to read, ( ok for a light read on the train etc), I was just glad to get to the end of it and I shan't be reading anymore of this series. I think the author struggled with this one. I found it rushed and rather silly. I know it's fiction but I did find that even this stretched my imagination. The ending was predictable but quite honestly, I didn't really care in the end. This series has had its day.
I also found the way it was written having an effect on me, very garbled to me and I have to say the amount of times Georgie says "Oh my God" really becomes tiresome and also the use of the F word is quite unnecessary. Working in libraries, I think there will be many readers of Chick lit who won't appreciate this and it actually doesn't serve any additional purpose to the plot. There is a time and place for the use of this word in literature but this is not it and is another reason why I went off Georgie who just becomes more vacuous and materialistic as time goes on. Loved the final Carringtons installment as much as the first two! Georgie, her dad, and Nancy are totally adorable, and omgsh NEW YORK!!! I fell in love with the place when I visited (3 times and barely scratched the surface of everything there is to see!) so it was great reading through Georgie's trip and all the sights she saw that I visited too, like a trip down memory lane <3
Definitely could have done without all the Twitterspeak. After the 2nd "amazeballs" it just came across as trying too hard to be culturally relevant and didn't add anything to the story but instead made the characters seem shallow and unable to communicate in the real world vs. social media.
A couple of editorial notes. There were several instances of quotation signs not being correct around dialogue vs. non-dialogue statements. Also, I've always thought British authors writing any Americans should have an American read the American dialogue and make sure it sounds authentic. The guy at the airport says "you better pick up that lot" but we definitely don't say "lot" over here, and as a Southern woman, I've never said the GD word EVER and I can probably count on one hand the number of times I've heard anyone I know say it, but the Southern woman at the airport said it more times than I've ever heard outside of rated R films, and even then, almost never from female characters.
Lastly, the theme of people being mad at Georgie for not being able to read their minds is so frustrating and it's why I knocked off one star. Sam totally blocked Georgie out after Christy showed up, ignored several calls and attempts at contact, and made Georgie feel guilty for leaving her behind when she went to New York. Was Georgie to just wait around and put her own life on hold indefinitely until Sam finally decided to talk to her? This was totally unfair and put a damper on Georgie's once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. I'm glad Sam apologized too, but she let Georgie carry unnecessary guilt. They talk a lot in the book about Sam always being a good friend to Georgie as if Georgie had always been the taker and Sam the giver, dismissing Georgie from the beginning trying to comfort Sam after her mother left. Georgie definitely didn't get enough credit for her part in the friendship in this book.
Same with Tom. Again, Georgie is off to NEW YORK CITY, where she will be working with a designer at night, sightseeing during the day with her best friend (which Tom helped to arrange) and after two weeks of being constantly on the run, he expects her to remember to open the envelope, and expects her to read it first thing in the morning too, apparently. It was a lot to leave to chance; a simple reminder the night before wouldn't have been remiss, all things considered, but I guess he was too busy (as usual). And I'm not a feminist by any means, but it had this "I'm super busy and that's ok and I never have time to talk to you other than snatches of conversation at a time but I must mean nothing to you if you were so busy for two weeks straight that you forgot to open a birthday card from me." Juvenile. The "move in with me to my cold and personality-free apartment that I only stay in, that's not really a home because I'm never there, and leave the ACTUAL home you made for yourself and spend all your time in my empty apartment while I'm in meetings all the time." The "I know you've tried to reach me several times and I either ignore your calls or am very short with you but you didn't call me on Friday like you said you would so you must want out of this relationship." WHAT?! Yes, because when someone wants to break up with their SO they try repeatedly to contact them to talk and apologize and make things right. Not Georgie's fault he blew off all her attempts. Again, he just came across as petty and juvenile. And again, NOT a feminist, but having my own first place was a HUGE growth experience for me that really helped me come into my own as a person, and Georgie seemed to feel the same, so it's hard for me to appreciate Tom wanting her to move in with him and treating the life she built for herself as if it should be easy to give up and walk away from, especially for the only reason he'll give her is that it's "practical" - which is complete bull because it was based on practicality, they'd live in HER flat where they already spend all their time together. I mean, hello. I get that this was all driven by a previous relationship gone bad, but because he never has time to talk to Georgie about anything of importance in any depth, he brings all that baggage into his relationship with her leaving her none the wiser, knowing she is the worst about jumping to conclusions and setting her up to read between the lines and interpret everything incorrectly, of course. Just like in book 2, if he would just talk to her, really talk, so much of their relationship drama could be avoided. I want to like him, I really do, but I just can't stand the silent treatment crap. It's so cold and heartless and, like I said, JUVENILE. And maybe part of the reason he was so busy in this book was because he was trying to get the old dept store from Georgie's childhood, but the big gestures vs. regular quality time together (and I don't mean "filthy sex") just makes him seem like the "weekend dad" who is totally uninvolved during the week but claims he's "doing it all for the family", despite never really seeing or being with his family. Again, knowing Georgie, and how often in this book she mentions how they never have time to talk, time to talk and just be together is really what she wants more than anything.
PS: Who wants to be whisked away from NYC to the Grand Canyon??? BOOOO. And besides, knowing Georgie and her personality, surprising her in New York and proposing at one of the sights she'd be most excited to visit, or one that she especially loved seeing during her trip (which he'd known if he'd found more time to talk to her) would have been more meaningful to her. And from what I've heard from people who've visited Vegas, it's glamorous on screen, dirty in real life. A New York City proposal though? SWOON!

I get that this was all driven by a previous relationship gone bad, but because he never has time to talk to Georgie about anything of importance in any depth, he brings all that baggage into his relationship with her leaving her none the wiser, knowing she is the worst about jumping to conclusions and setting her up to read between the lines and interpret everything incorrectly, of course. Just like in book 2, if he would just talk to her, really talk, so much of their relationship drama could be avoided. I want to like him, I really do, but I just can't stand the silent treatment crap. It's so cold and heartless and, like I said, JUVENILE. And maybe part of the reason he was so busy in this book was because he was trying to get the old dept store from Georgie's childhood, but the big gestures vs. regular quality time together (and I don't mean "filthy sex") just makes him seem like the "weekend dad" who is totally uninvolved during the week but claims he's "doing it all for the family", despite never really seeing or being with his family. Again, knowing Georgie, and how often in this book she mentions how they never have time to talk, time to talk and just be together is really what she wants more than anything.
PS: Who wants to be whisked away from NYC to the Grand Canyon??? BOOOO. And besides, knowing Georgie and her personality, surprising her in New York and proposing at one of the sights she'd be most excited to visit, or one that she especially loved seeing during her trip (which he'd known if he'd found more time to talk to her) would have been more meaningful to her. And from what I've heard from people who've visited Vegas, it's glamorous on screen, dirty in real life. A New York City proposal though? SWOON!

This is the third book in the series. Things are hopping at Carrington’s in the aftermath of the reality series. Georgie has some stress from meeting her boyfriend’s wealthy parents and she takes on a role in organizing a big fete in town. She is also offered a unique opportunity to be the face and inspiration behind a new line of bags, which takes her to New York, and has her meeting up with her dear friend Eddie. Unfortunately, a fun time on her birthday leads her to forget to open the envelope that her boyfriend, Tom, gave her, which ruins a wonderful surprise from him and puts Georgie in a world of trouble. She has to work to sort out her priorities and help her best friend, Sam, who is having her own challenges with motherhood. This was a decent conclusion to the series and a great improvement over the second book.

Third book in this series and Georgie Hart continues to make a name for herself in the department store and as a fashion column writer. Georgie is involved with the owner of the department store and Tom finally takes her to meet his parents. Tom's mother really thinks Gerogie is not good enough for her son but then asks Georgie to plan a big event. Georgie's nest friend Sam now has a set of twins and still is trying to run her business of a cafe in the store as well as taking care of these two little girls. Event plans look good for Georgie but then things begin to go wrong but as always things turn around.

To be honest, I was about to DNF and give 2 stars after reading 200pages . But the last part give me enough sugar so the rating was higher .
I was satisfied with what’s happening at the end. Like there’s a closure to Georgie and tom’s relationship . Because I have been shipping them a lot since 13. So ... yeah . I need to read that ending .

Not Tindledale
Love the tindledale books but did not warm to Georgie at all. I found her quite irritating. Also, the writing/editing wasn't up to the usual quality... eg. Georgie and Eddie have oysters and champagne in grand Central Station.....a few chapters later Georgie opts out of trying oysters 'for the first time' in front of Isabella!?

I make no secret of the fact I adore the Carrington’s series by the lovely Alexandra so, as always, I got majorly excited when I heard Ice Creams At Carrington’s was coming!
I was extremely lucky to be invited to the book launch at the swanky Ice Cream Parlour in Fortnum & Mason!
It was so lovely to meet Alex, her editor and Jaime from Harper whilst we all ate the most sumptuous ice creams topped with colourful sprinkles, marshmallows and a deliciously moreish warm chocolate sauce. It was also so lovely to meet other bloggers too and all talk about how much we loved the book and how we can’t wait for Alex’s new series!
So, onto the book!
Ice Creams invites us, with open arms, back into Georgie and Tom’s world where things couldn’t be sweeter. I mean, what’s better than being able to wake up next to TOM CARRINGTON every single morning?! But, unfortunately, things start to get a little tricky as the summer regatta is fast approaching and whilst Georgie wants to ensure the regatta goes without a hitch, she’s also offered the opportunity of a life time that she just can’t turn down. She begins to stretch herself to try and do a little bit of everything and as the regatta gets closer, Georgie finds herself having to question where her loyalties lie. Her best friend Sam needs her more than ever, Tom wants his girlfriend back and Eddie just wants to have some fun…can she keep everyone happy as well as keeping her head above water?
WHERE DO I START?! I can’t even begin to coherently express how much I loved this book.
The thing I relished most about this book is how real Alex made this one – whilst the other two in this series touch on more serious issues, this book was a really in depth look at a myriad of sensitive issues, which, whilst dealt with perfectly, added a really lovely new layer to the plot. Instead of the love story dominating, we were able to learn more about the characters’ lives – especially Sam and Georgie’s dad.
Having said that, there is still the perfect balance of romance and humour stuffed into the pages and I found myself laughing loudly one minute and close to tears in the next! I love a book that can take you to two different emotional extremes in such a short space of time, whilst still keeping you addicted to the plot.
As always, the characters were TOTAL joys to read about. Especially my beloved Eddie and the delectable Tom! There were also plenty of cake references and ice cream ones too which made my tummy rumble as I read…make sure you have ice cream to eat whilst you read this book!
Alex writes with such warmth and as you read page after page you can’t help but feel the love seeping out of the pages which makes every single sentence richer and more enjoyable – when you can feel how much love and time the author has put into making the characters seem real, you can’t help but get sucked right into the story.
I cannot recommend this book enough and, I think, it might just be my favourite Carrington’s book so far! Also, the ending of this book is PERFECT and I am determined to get Alex to write another Carrington’s book one day! Even if it’s just a novella – I want to know what happens next!
A beautiful story with love, laughter and family at the heart.
Alex will be back sooner than we all anticipated with a new novel in November called The Great Christmas Knit Off which will focus on a whole new cast of characters which is so exciting! Roll on November!!

Georgie Hart has it all.
After becoming a reluctant reality television star, her life is completely different. She no longer runs women’s accessories but instead helps the posh customers in the personal shopping department. She also writes columns for a women’s magazine about fashion accessories and what the stars carry in their purses.
It’s a far cry from the days of scrimping and saving, of being in debt up to her eyeballs. A lot of other things have changed in her life too: She’s let her father back into her life and she is in love with Tom Carrington, who may very well be her one.
Yes, life couldn’t be more wonderful…that is until Tom’s mother comes to town for a visit. Giving off a royal air, Georgie is sure that Isabella hates her. Georgie is surprised therefore when she is roped into helping plan the Mulberry-On-Sea’s Regatta, even though she knows nothing about boats or racing.
Her father and Nancy plan to go on a trip across Europe riding in a yellow camper van. Georgie is instantly worried about her fathers health. What if something happens when they are travelling? Added to that, Sam’s going through a rough time with her husband Nathan and she doesn’t seem herself. Deciding to look for a Nanny or a Manny, Sam won’t be prepared for who comes through the door.
However, Georgie plans to do the best she can and raise Isballe’s opinion of her. That is until she gets the opportunity of a lifetime, one too good to pass up. Does she risk everything by taking a chance?
There aren’t enough words to describe how much I love this book. Indeed, all the books in the Carrington’s series are amazing, but Ice Creams at Carrington’s is my favourite by far.
Georgie is growing up. She’s almost thirty now and no longer the same young woman we met at the start of Cupcakes at Carrington’s. She’s still just as fabulous as ever though and just as endearing. All of the other characters we love are there too: Eddie and Ciaran got married in Vegas, Ms. Grace has penned a memoir and has become a literary star.
Everyone is just as we left them at the end of Christmas at Carrington’s…but different. They are growing up. The fact that Alexandra Brown let these characters develop further than the normal caricatures that people chick lit is utterly refreshing. These are people we’ve grown to love and it’s a treat to see them prospering.
Brown also tackles some difficult issues. In Ice Creams at Carrington’s, she tackles commitment issues, post natal depression, gay marriage, Multiple Sclerosis, and more. As well, tackling subjects that aren’t normally touched upon in chick lit give the book heart and soul and so much warmth in how Brown chooses to deal with all of these subjects.
What’s more, Ice Creams at Carrington’s a bright, funny jewel of a book. It not only touches on subjects that are kept in the dark but it does it with style, heart and warmth. Ice Creams at Carrington’s is my favourite book so far this year and I can’t wait to read it again.

It is summer time in Mulberry-on-Sea and Georgie is more popular than ever! The town is holding a big summer festival and Georgie wants to make sure that Mulberry puts on the show of its life! But Georgie son gets the offer of a lifetime, and in between her romance with Tom, and her friends needing her too, can Georgie be there for everyone and pull it all off again?
Words cannot express how much I was looking forward to Ice Creams At Carrington’s! It was the book that I was most excited for this year and Alexandra didn’t let me down one bit!
It was truly WONDERFUL to be back in the company of Georgie, Sam, Eddie and Mr Carrington himself – I have spent the series following them on their journeys and their stories have always stuck with me. Being back with them was fantastic – it was like meeting up with your best friends for a catch up and a chat – I immediately felt at home in the novel and I raced through it, thoroughly enjoying every second.
For me one of the things I love most is Georgie – she is a character that I think everyone can relate to in some way. I see a lot of myself in her, I can relate to things she feels and says, and she feels like a best friend. When I was reading Ice Creams At Carrington’s, I laughed with her, I swooned over the gorgeous Tom Carrington with her, and I spent every moment cheering her on! I really enjoyed seeing Georgie grow so much in this book.
Alexandra always writes with such warmth and such passion and this shines from the pages! Every single part of this novel is a delight to be in the company of, and I thoroughly enjoyed every minute. As well as the beautiful happy moments and romance moments that I always love from the Carrington’s series, there are also some more serious topics covered in this book. I thought that these parts were very well written, it sucked me in and had my attention straight away, as well as my emotions. Alexandra writes with such sensitivity but in a realistic way, and these topics gave the book a lot of depth and emotion – it was very touching. There is also a lot of humorous moments that had me giggling and at one point even snorting with laughter, not to mention the fun and most of all drama that seems to happen whenever Georgie is about!!
This novel is absolutely everything I was hoping for! Ice Creams At Carrington’s is a BRILLIANT read for the summer and it has everything you could ever want in a summer book – Ice cream, fun, romance, drama, laughter, family and friendship! And if that isn’t enough then there is a truly handsome and swoon-worthy hunk in the form of Mr Tom Carrington! If you’re going to buy any book this summer please buy this one!

Tutto nella vita di Georgie Hart sembra andare a gonfie vele: ha recuperato il rapporto col padre; è diventata responsabile del salotto vip dei grandi magazzini Carrington e l’amore con Tom è una vera e propria favola. Per organizzare la tradizionale regata estiva che vede coinvolta l’intera popolazione di Mulberry – On – Sea, Georgie scende in prima linea così da enfatizzare il ruolo dei Carrington ora che stanno per inaugurare una nuova sede. Impegni fitti da un lato, un imprevisto viaggio a New York dall’altro e una suocera un po’ ingombrante porranno in serio pericolo la posizione della giovane e l’amore di Mr Carrington nei suoi confronti.
“Io lo amo. L’ho sempre amato, fin dal primo momento in cui gli ho messo gli occhi addosso quel giorno in mensa da Carrington, mentre si serviva un’insalata e io lo guardavo sbavando. Non posso avere la certezza che vivremo per sempre felici e contenti, ma so che quando sarò vecchia potrò dire di aver vissuto una vita degna di essere vissuta. Questo sì che sarà meraviglioso.”
Dopo aver apprezzato “Natale da Carrington”, non potevo perdermi il capitolo estivo della serie.
Georgie è cresciuta, certo. L’amore di Tom le ha infuso sicurezza e ancor più determinazione tanto da voler ricoprire incarichi di rilievo. Tuttavia se si pensa all’elemento che la contraddistingue (il combinare pasticci) ecco che ci si rende conto di quanto la protagonista sia rimasta fedele al suo “marchio di fabbrica”.
Tom non è poi così diverso da Georgie. Uomo d’affari a capo di un impero economico, innamorato pronto a distruggere tutto dinanzi a un equivoco.
Personaggio rivelazione è sicuramente Isabella, la madre di Tom. Abituata a vivere nel lusso, sempre pronta a giudicare l’operato altrui, è per Georgie un vero e proprio ostacolo da superare oltre che il principale motivo che la spinge a entrare nel comitato organizzativo della regata. Personaggio odioso solo in apparenza, poiché sarà proprio la fredda Isabella a imporre una svolta significativa all’intreccio narrativo.
L’autrice sceglie una prosa semplice, ironica, diretta, ricca di dialoghi e dal ritmo incalzante capace di catturare il lettore e di condurlo fino al tenero epilogo.
Un romanzo dalla trama ben strutturata e dall’ambientazione curata nei dettagli. Un’opera romanticamente spassosa che fa venir voglia di preparare la valigia, raggiungere Mulberry – On – Sea, assistere alla regata e gustare un gelato preparato su uno dei furgoncini vintage.

Un gelato da Carrington è il terzo appuntamento della Carrington's series. Fatto di divertenti aneddoti, ironici colpi di scena e personaggi intraprendenti. Amo questa serie...perchè? Perchè mi fa ridere, piangere, divertire, amare, immedesimare e svagare. I personaggi magnetici e ironici, la naturalezza di essi li rende inimitabili e goliardici. Tutti dal primo all'ultimo hanno la loro personalità, che sia invasiva o meno, che sia buona o cattiva, che sia simpatica o antipatica.

Whoop whoop! Georgie Hart and the gang are back this summer and it's a fabulous time to be enjoying the summer sunshine and eating a delicious ice-cream! I was so excited for the third (hopefully not the last) book in the series and it's even better than I expected. A pretty cover, exciting new plot, familiar characters and a dashing hero, what's not to love?
Ice Creams at Carrington's continues off where the previous book left off, if you've not read Cupcakes at Carrington's and Christmas at Carrington's, I urge you to - you won't be disappointed, trust me! If you'd like a little taster of how scrummy Alexandra Brown's writing is, why not pick this one up and give it a go? I'm all about discovering new authors and Alexandra Brown is definitely one to watch! Back to the book, after reading the second book, I believed I couldn't be happier for Georgie and Tom, but I was so wrong. In Ice Creams at Carrington's, be prepared for a wonderful and exhilarating ride of excitement as well as emotions. I would keep going on and on, but I wouldn't want to spoil it for you. Just so you know, I squealed. A LOT.
The thing I love about reading a series is that everything falls back into place and when you read the book(s), you are immediately embraced by the familiarity of it, especially the characters. Reading Ice Creams at Carrington's after almost 6 months, the book welcomed me back into the lives of Georgie and the gang and it's an incredible feeling. It felt so good to be back with the insanely crazy yet lovable characters, especially the incredibly sexy Tom, fiercely loyal Sam and flamboyant Eddie!
The plot was sublime - exciting and highly enjoyable. I loved how the book kept me guessing and predicting but I was wronged more than once. Sprinkled with little surprises, I couldn't get enough of Ice Creams at Carrington's and the ending was equally perfect and beautiful. Fingers crossed for another book - I'd be heartbroken if there isn't one!
Ice Creams at Carrington's is delicious and fulfilling as ice-cream on a hot summer's day. It's comforting and delightful and you just cannot get enough of it! Funny, sparkling and utterly delectable. Your ideal summer holiday companion. Alexandra Brown is one of the rising stars of chick lit.

I would love to live in Mulberry-on-sea, it sounds like a fun town to live in and with Carrington's Department Store at its heart, a real traditional town. Carrington's has lots of history but is also very much a part of modern day life due to a reality show series being filmed there in the last book.
Angie Hart used to be on the designer bags section but following an appearance in the reality series, she has now become a personal shopper and her department has gone from strength to strength, as has her personal life as she is in a relationship with Carrington's owner. Her best friend is Sam, who owns the cake shop within Carrington's, and a mother of twin girls.
This is the third book in Alexandra Brown's series about the seaside department store and this one is based more on the community outside of the store. A festival is taking place in Mulberry-on-sea and Georgie wants to make sure that Carrington's is well represented there - not only does she want to prove to her partner that she can do this, but also his mum who has dropped anchor in the town for the festival.
The festival sounds like an event I would of loved to have visited - lots of fun for young and old and a celebration of Mulberry-On-Sea and its history. however, as is often the case, behind the scenes of the festival there are disagreements, arguments and cat fights - however these disputes end up affecting the festival, is it really Georgie's future mother in law who is to blame??
I really enjoyed leaving Mulberry-On-Sea and following Georgie on her travels and also on finding out more about other characters within the book. Alexandra Brown has tackled issues in this book and I think it adds depth to the book.
I think this book should be the book for the summer - slip it into holiday luggage or take it in the garden to while away the afternoon.
I am already looking forward to the next installment of life at Carringtons, although I have seen that Alexandra Brown is writing a three-book series , all set in the fictional picture-postcard village of Tindledale, with the first one entitled The Great Christmas Knit Off, which I also look forward to reading soon.

If you want a summer read, then this is the book for you. It is the perfect accompaniment to your beach bag, summer satchel, travelling tote or even your 99er with strawberry syrup. It has everything a summer read should have in it. Drama, drama, ice-cream and did I say drama? No!? Well drama.
Coming back to Mulberry-On-Sea for a third (and a half) time to see how everyone at Carrington's store was getting on was always going to be charming. I've struck up relationships with these characters, so of course I'm rooting for them all and excited to see what is going on with them. Well it seems that since Christmas that them lot can really turn themselves round. Wow! I was shocked to see the difference in them all. Some for the better, but unfortunately for me one who's not. My beloved Eddie, had me flabbergasted. It seems money has gone right to his head and what was once bitchy, catty, remarks that were made without malice and had you grinning, are now full on I'm better than you remarks. So sad :(
Anyway, moving on. If you've not already read any of the Carrington books before this in my opinion I think you should, but author Alexandra Brown has everything covered for you, with little reminders and keeping you up to dare with the past as you go through the book. That's also great for us Carrington fans as we love to look back.
I enjoyed Ice Creams at Carrington's. It was lovely to see new characters bought in and old in a different light. The plot was extremely dramatic, but that we have come to expect when with our friend Miss Hart. From the start the fast wit and humour of Alexandra comes through and you do smile and giggle a lot. It's fun and flirty, summer in a book. It should actually smell of coconut suntan lotion it's that much a summer book. Fab! And, I mean that in both the great way and Lollyice way.
Super-Yachts, Knife wielding psychopaths, Handbags galore, Fighting ice-cream Men, Friendship struggles and Tom. Mr. Tom Carrington.

Georgie Hart seems to have her life on track. The perfect job, the perfect boyfriend, the perfect life. Then she is given the challenge of organising the first summer regatta for Mulberry-on-Sea, sponsored by Carrington's Department store! With the regatta looming, her father loose on the continent in a camper van and an opportunity state-side that is just too good to miss, Georgie finds herself pulled in all directions. This is the summer when Georgie will discover what she truly wants out of life.
Personally I enjoyed this story a lot more than the previous one in the series, Christmas at Carrington's. However as in the previous book, the slang annoyed me a bit; I've had enough of 'emosh' and 'amazeballs' to last a lifetime as it is so I don't want them in my books too (plus I don't know anyone in real life who actually uses them...). The one thing that this book lacked in comparison to its predecessor is it's focus being on the family run department store. The whole New York trip thing has been done so many times before in other chick-lit novels that I'm getting a little tired of it - I didn't even like Sex and the City!
The novel features stereotypical characters and a relatively predictable storyline, but this isn't necessarily a bad thing. It is easy to follow and easy to read, which in my mind makes it a perfect book to spend a lazy summer afternoon with. I can relate to Georgie in the sense that I'm torn between home comforts and the excitement of new places. She must be loaded though!

It was great to be back with Georgie and co at Mulberry-on-Sea!
Fame hasn’t changed Eddie! He’s just the same as he drops in to Tom’s parent’s super yacht and meets up with Georgie in New York. We see a deeper side to Sam as she struggles to cope with trying to organise everything with sleep deprivation now she has the twins. Georgie’s dad and Nancy are off on an adventure in ‘Daisy’ causing Georgie to worry and fret about her dad’s health and of course it is out of character for them both. I felt quite envious! I think we could all day with a 'Daisy' at times in our lives :)
Conflict comes not only from Isabella (Tom’s mum) and surprisingly Sam but also from Meredith who has history with Carrington’s. She’s now the councillor’s PA and taken charge of the meetings in the run up to the regatta. Although nasty, the true depth of her feelings isn’t known until one very dramatic scene.
Georgie makes her own trouble by forgetting to open something really important. So much tension with the awful timing with Georgie and Tom! How could it go so wrong … Was their relationship ever going to run smoothly?
The scenes at the ice cream factory and the epilogue are such feel-good events.
Alexandra Brown is fabulous at moving the story along and giving her readers reasons for sitting on the edge of the seat waiting to see what will happen. No scenes are drawn out and the story just flows.
If you haven’t read the previous stories about Carrington’s then there is enough background so that you can read Ice Creams as a standalone. However, I would recommend that you read them too for the full experience.
