Ecstatic Prophecy

Rate this book
Ecstatic prophecy is a form of prophecy in which the prophet is completely overtaken by the Holy Spirit--body, soul, and spirit--and prophesies almost as an oracle. In Ecstatic Prophecy , Stacey Campbell, a respected teacher and regular and high-profile recipient of this gift, explains the ins and outs of this remarkable mode of prophecy. She takes readers through biblical and early church examples of ecstatic prophecy and uncovers the history of its occurrence until modern times. She also examines how those with this gift can mature in it, avoid deception by testing spirits, and use this method of prophesying to grow closer to God and to reveal Jesus.
This unique book will be compelling to anyone who follows prophetic literature and movements, as well as to those who may be experiencing ecstatic prophecy without understanding it.

A must read for all Christians.

A must read for all Christians who desire to know how and why God uses the Spirit of Prophecy to generate revivals, both small and great. This is one of the most relevant books on the movements of the Holy Spirit and His Presence that I have ever encountered. Thus is absolutely a must read for all who are interested in how the Lord has used and still is using, the Spirit of Prophecy to reach both the unsaved and saved alike. Truly an inspiring book by author, Stacey Campbell.

This book was absolutely amazing. Stacey Campbell did a fantastic job of researching the history of OUR church, the church of The Lord Jesus Christ. The church's history is our history. We joined into the family of Christ when we said yes to Him. When we joined in, we inherited the richest family history and familial authority known to Earth. This book does a great job at opening your eyes to a part of what our history opens us up to.

This was surprisingly well-argued, especially the early sections. Campbell succeeds at creating a respectable theology behind the charismatic phenomenon of ecstatic states of being, drawing both from first rate academics such as David Aune as well as through juxtaposing the experience with the great revivalists of Church History. The second half of the book had a little more fluff than the first half, though.

If you would like to read one of the best books on the market relating to prophecy this book ranks as the best. With over twenty years of experience in prophetic circles nationally and internationally, Stacey Campbell's book Ecstatic Prophecy will clarify questions, paint vivid real life account experiences, and give a balanced approach to the prophetic. In clearly describing estatic prophecy she uses scriptures as the basis and will reveal the importance of knowing the Word and pursuing Him as prerequisites for being used powerfully. God led her through a series of experiences that broke through her traditional upbringing and set ablaze prayer and worship meetings where her prophetic gift was developed. You will understand the emotional experiences of the prophet and see why God uses unconventional ways to reveal truth. Stacey Campbell is very transparent in sharing her painful experiences along the way as she was maturing in her prophetic gifts. Her experiences will help you avoid some common pitfalls along the way while allowing you to see the human weaknesses we all succumb to from time to time.
Although ecstatic states and spirit possession occur in virtually every religion, you will learn how to distinguish between true and false prophets. Additional highlights this book entails include:Church history accounts of ecstatic prophecy, dangers of seeing prophecy exclusive of other spiritual gifts, prophets and character, and the importance of walking in love.
The author's heart is to see the five- fold ministry working together to build up the body of Christ into an active fellowship where the gates of hell cannot prevail.

Highly recommended. I thought that this book wouldn't be for me, considering that I thought it would only be for a small demographic of "ecstatic propheciers."
There is a whole new facet to Christian Spirituality available in this book, if you can relate to the above judgement of a book by its cover.
