There is a particular kind of insanity running rampant in the world that compels most women to stuff down, ignore, or hide parts of ourselves in order to be acceptable, attractive, or taken seriously.
Which doesn’t work. It actually ensures we remain unfulfilled, miserable, and at war with ourselves—and that is a war no woman can win.
So now comes the good news: There is a path to help you become the woman you are aching to become.
This path is unruly, messy, a wee bit naughty, and audaciously asks you trust the very parts of you that you previously warred against. While this path has no script, map, or blueprint, you’ll learn to use your sensuous, desirous, wildly feeling female body as a steadfast and trustworthy compass.
This is the path of Feminine Genius.
To get you started, you’ll have the best of guides: women’s life coach LiYana Silver. "One of the most enduringly inspiring things in my life," says LiYana, "is to watch a woman slip the Gordian knot of self-loathing, people-pleasing, and over-achieving and become simply and fully herself."
Partly an irreverently reverent feminist treatise and partly a non-denominational devotional hymnal to the Sacred Feminine, Feminine Genius just might change forever what you know about your body, soul, sexuality, intuition, and power. In these pages, LiYana invites you to:
Go deep and reconnect with the powerful parts of yourself you’ve hidden away • Meet your innate genius: the wild, creative, and infallible wisdom of your body • Brighten your everyday with hands-on practices • Tap into your inner knowing so you can stop second-guessing yourself and get clear about your next steps • Learn how to embrace your sexuality, emotions, desires, and cycles so you can achieve enormous effectiveness and fulfillment in life • Navigate your "dark" and work with painful, difficult experiences in healthy ways • Learn how you overuse your "masculine" strengths to the point of personal, cultural, and global breakdown • Discover why your "feminine" isn’t weak, but is one of the strongest and most trustworthy parts of you • Explore the history, physics, and biology of a universe built for harmony between "masculine" and "feminine" • Look in the mirror and see the face of the Goddess gazing back at you If you found a dusty bottle on a shelf of your cellar, there would be only one way to know if it contained an all-knowing genie with the power to actualize your deepest desires: open, and look inside.
Feminine Genius is a provocative wake-up call, nudging you to uncork that fabulous flask and find out just how much magic you’ve been hiding. Because you do have a genie in your bottle—and genius in your body.
A torch-holder for a world-to-be in which the epidemic of women self-haters has long become absurd, LiYana Silver mentors women to unlock their Feminine Genius. She writes, teaches, coaches, and speaks, helping women to wake up their body wisdom, turn on their feminine strengths, and live brilliant lives aligned with their true desires.
“Someone finally gets me!” is what most people say when they cross paths with LiYana, whether they are (as they have been) edge-cutting entrepreneurs, corporate professionals, artists, healers, social activists, mothers returning to work or balancing career with family, Fortune 500 leaders, and even a shaman or two.
LiYana works immersively with women in her mentorship program, The Embodiment Experience, as well as in private sessions. She connects closely with women in the virtual sphere via her signature course, Ignite Your Feminine Genius, and her Facebook community.
LiYana is a Holistic Health Coach, certified by the American Association of Drugless Practitioners, is certified in Core Strength Vinyassa Yoga, and holds a master’s certification in Transformational NLP. Her eyebrow raising work has been featured in the likes of Huffington Post, Forbes, Jezebel, and Emerging Women. LiYana also dances, paints in oils, and makes home with her husband and son.

No doubt about it, even with 4 out of 5 stars I recommend this book. It has been one of many elements that have been a life-changer for me this summer!
At times the luscious, dripping-with-metaphors text felt a little disorienting. However, I think that's ultimately right in alignment with Liyana's central metaphor of feminine genius being akin to a cauldron, whereas masculine genius is more like the locomotive that takes things directly from point A to point B. As someone who, like many of us, values highly that masculine ability of a book, argument, or self help process to drive me from point A to point B, I sometimes found myself uncomfortable, squeamish, and a little frustrated as I, instead, felt as if I were swirling inside the cauldron.
And yet that was just what I needed. :)
(P.S. There are many excellent and practical practices in this book that will appeal to the masculine genius in you as well.)
Not only do I feel empowered after reading this book, I also feel enlightened. The way the information was presented in this book was so clear and concise, but never came off as being preachy. It’s the first personal development book I feel like I actually learned from (with the backing and foundation in science). If you’re a woman who feels as though society has beaten the individuality out of you, and you’re trying to get it back, I highly recommend this book!
This book is absolutely amazing! Not only is the subject matter and message ESSENTIAL to today's woman, but the book is wonderfully written.
I really like the voice LiYana Silver uses to speak with the reader. It's grounded, real and yet sassy - which is a complex blend that very few people can pull off. Perhaps it's simply her personality or perhaps it's slightly cultivated. Regardless, it's fabulous.
It is evident that the author has heaps of experience coaching other people, and more importantly, in delving deep within. Further, she has done much reading and research in her field.
There is only one very specific reason that I am giving this book four, rather than five, stars. I am completely over spiritual leaders/teachers who attempt to use quantum physics to describe why their particular flavour is amazing. I don't know the subject as thoroughly as I would like, but as a former science researcher, I'm know enough to see the gapping wide gaps in their arguments. Honestly, if you can't actually do the math, don't try to explain why quantum explains your hypothesis. You are contradicting yourself and make me want to give up on the rest of the book.
I really enjoyed this book. I’d recommend it to any woman who wants to feel more at home in her body and embrace who she is. Some parts felt a bit cheesy or over the top for my taste, but the heart of the message is so powerful and empowering that I still recommend it wholeheartedly.
Very inspiring and empowering, with a profound, transformative and beautiful message. When cultural norms do not seem to be the right ones to flourish and be yourself, the only way is to make one, to make that daring decision to take your life, your happiness, your truth into your own hands and be passionate and brave enough to walk it . It is the path to your true self that manifests in your steps, from which no one can give you the map or the instructions, because the map and the compass Are Yourself. This is the path of personal rediscovery and assertive decisions that LiYana Silver was spinning in Femenine Genius. The author offers a handy guide designed to give you what you need. First she takes you by the hand to understand and have the clarity of where the dilemma began and how your personal power weakened. Secondly, she reminds you that it takes a personal job to recognize all that you have given permission to manifest in your life sabotaging it, but that in reality is a necessary part of the path to your empowerment. And thirdly you must integrate your wisdom, dwelling your own skin and connecting deeply with your body. Finally it is necessary to cultivate your light through your divine guidance, to remember the reason to come to the world and contribute: “This path asks of you to take on counterintutive practices so that you can thrive, but also to re-create a world that works for men and women alike”. My gratitude to the Publisher and NetGalley for allowing me to review the book
I love the title and the cover of this book, but felt really off as I read it.
There are points of true grace and wisdom, and then, something jarring that just doesn't align at all with the overall tone and message of the book.
As an example, early on in the book there are a few paragraphs full of statistics about women's sexual abuse. I glossed over it, and felt out of synch as I read from there forward. It was almost as if the author was trying to prove something to me, just to show me another way.
I feel a bit challenged putting this into words, other than... there were great shifts in the text that didn't align with the rest of the message. I often found myself skipping pages, sections, just to get to the juiciness I sought.
One quote that demonstrates what I'm trying to convey: "One is not born genius, one becomes a genius; and the feminine situation has up to the present rendered this becoming practically impossible".
I just... I cannot disagree more, and this sentence came completely out of nowhere. I think it might be a quote from someone else (many sections have a related quote at the top), but it's hard to tell in the preview Kindle version. Regardless, it's so off-kilter to the rest of the message, I felt like I was on a boat in the Bahamas again right after hurricane Matthew.
Nutshell: I'm sure there's gold in here, I just want to avoid the whiplash to find it.
First off I wish every women in the world would receive a copy of this book in the mail as a gift. This book is the one we have been waiting for. The one we have stood and searched the book shelves of our local book stores or small libraries. This book will help! It has hands on activities that will teach a woman to rebuild your inner worth for it to shine on the outside. It helped me in many ways in dealing with writing my last novella about my past and it taught me how to accept, move on and to shine once again.
An inspiring book! I took my time with it and I reread a lot of chapters so I could internalize it better. There are some bold statements in it - as a recovering people pleaser I think I needed to read most of them. "Feminine Genius" covers the miracle of being a woman even though it can be challenging in our society. It offers great practices and I highlighted them so I can always go back as a reminder. The chapter about feelings (7) is awesome, I learned how to better understand and embrace them. I loved learning about my Oracle and I think I'm getting better answers now from it. The examples were good as well and they showcased the ideas the author was explaining. I was going to give this book 4 stars because it is a bit slow paced when it doesn't need to be and this kind of distracted me sometimes. But I enjoyed reading "Feminine Genius" so much and I learned so many things here - knowledge and practices I'll bring with me for my whole life - that I don't have the heart to give it less than 5 stars. Well done! I do recommend this book, it has a lot of wisdom, including thought-provoking facts and quotes.
I won this book as a Goodreads Giveaway - thank you. As with most self-help books you have to look for the advice that works for you. It took me almost 10 months to read this book as you need to ponder several of the chapters for a week or two. Ms. Silver discusses the Heronine's Journey stating "[it] is more of a spiral than a straight line, all players..., are internalized in the heroine herself. They are all part of her." This concepts summarizes this book. It is a spiral journey that can be picked up and reread depending on which advice would be most meaningful in that moment. In addition, not all the ideas will click, but I believe the ideas become part of you for use later in life when they just might click. This book will go on my reference shelf for future rereading.
This book changed my life. I recommend it to every woman I know, and give a copy to every client I've worked with, as their life coach. It's a wonderful, insightful, chunky, yet readable guide to channeling and accessing your inner power as a woman. This book is also an incredible guide to learning how to utilize the power of our emotions. I can't recommend this book enough!
Feminine Genius is a book about empowering yourself as a woman. It is full of exercises to help you tap into your intuition and lean into the feminine aspects of yourself. It's really helpful for those who want to add some femininity to their lives. In a world of personal development books that are very male-focused on doing and achievement, this one is a breath of fresh air.
If I could choose 0 stars, I would. This book was complete new age crap. I thought I was picking up a book that would offer insight and guidance, instead I picked up some expensive kindling for my fire place. Not joking...I used this book to start a fire.
A few simple words: Thank you Liyana for sharing your light and for me to be able to reflect it back to you...How you shine so bright & miraculously! This book is a gift to all women.
The wisdom in this book feels extremely relevant for this moment in time where feminine based leadership is rising in our world, yet we sometimes aren't quite sure what the even means or looks like. This book helped me tap into that alternative paradigm within my own self.
I was excited to win this in a GR giveaway.I was hoping it would give me some inspiration for my locked away feminine self and it did a little.
I felt this book was disjointed.A mix of practical steps, stories, and something I can't put my finger on.I loved some parts, particularly the practical aspects, but the changing tones threw me off. It felt kind of aggressive like the author was trying to get me to agree to something I don't agree with.
