Deadworld: Tattoo

Deadworld is one of the longest running independent, acclaimed horror comic series, with over 1,000,000 copies sold that attacks the zombie menace from a different 'supernatural' perspective. The dead return to walk the earth...but this is no standard zombie story. In addition to having intelligent zombies with a mission and goal, Deadworld also explores the human interactions as mankind finds itself facing extinction. And while some groups organize in the best interests of self-preservation, others use this as an opportunity to explore their own self-deluded dreams. Surprisingly good chapter of the Deadworld series.
Donna, a character who has been with the series since the first issue, now takes center stage in her own series. It's not fully explained, but somehow the body hopping zombie Vamp attempts to take Donna's body, but somehow it goes wrong and Donna ends up in control but with Vamp's skills and memories. She then becomes the greatest weapon against the zombies yet, as with her demon sword she can kill and banish even the leader zombies. The story starts out confusing but is told organically and the book does a great job of slowly unfolding everything in an entertaining manner.
This one was released in the late 90s and I think it was an attempt to cash in on the "bad girl" comics craze at the time. Tattoo fights zombies in a thong, very scantily clad and there are plenty of buttshots as well (not that I'm complaining, but it was a bit obvious at times.) The character even looked a little like Lady Death, had pet wolves, etc. But if you can get past the "Bad Girl" fluff there is a very strong story here. This is definitely one of the better Deadworld series.
