I adored Janet Zimmerman’s previous cookbook, The Healthy Pressure Cooker Cookbook: Nourishing Meals Made Fast. So when I found Zimmerman had a new cookbook out for my favorite kitchen appliance, the pressure cooker, I had to snap it up. And at a mere 99 cents in the Kindle format, this cookbook will pay for itself several-fold when you use the very first recipe.

A pressure cooker allows you to cook dried beans in a trice. Here’s a tip Zimmerman doesn’t provide — but that I will. You never, ever have to presoak beans. Ever. Simply rinse and pick them over to find the stray pebble or deformed bean, then increase the time under high pressure to 45 minutes. No having to soak overnight or any other such nonsense! A one-pound bag of beans is equivalent to four cans; you can do the math on your savings.

Save time. Save money. Save hassle. Be sure to buy both The Healthy Pressure Cooker Cookbook: Nourishing Meals Made Fast and Instant Pot® Obsession: The Ultimate Electric Pressure Cooker for Cooking Everything Fast.

As an Instant Pot newbie, I selected this cookbook to jump start my learning curve. Ms. Zimmerman does a great job of covering basic Instant Pot knowledge and providing some insider tips. I made a large list of recipes which looked enticing. I was a little disappointed to find that several recipes required additional accessories which did not come with the pot. So I have a separate list of recipes to try if I ever decide to purchase additional items to increase the flexibility of my pot. In the meantime, Zimmerman did provide plenty of recipes which only require the accessories which came with the pot initially. I have tried four recipes and would make them all again. BBQ spareribs in the Instant Pot was delicious and amazingly simple. Loved the mashed potatoes - this will be my new go-to method (including upcoming Thanksgiving dinner). Also tried the Balsamic & Honey Glazed Chicken and Carrots (next time I will at least double the amount of carrots), and Chicken Cacciatore (which was actually better warmed up the next day). I have many more recipes to try. A good cookbook!

The Instant Pot in my mind has become one of my favorite way of cooking. I have not used it every day like some people, my sister does, but I have used it a few times, I was finally about to figure out how it gets up to pressure and how to set it up to cook.

Thank said, the Instant Pot Obsession cookbook is amazing! The book has 120 recipes and you can cook healthy too! I wish I had had an instant pot when my kids were little and I was working.

This cookbook tells you what to have in your pantry, each recipe has an "at a glance" panel that tells you what prep and finishing times will be. So many helpful tips! There is a breakfast section, vegetables, and sides, beans and grains, meatless mains, fish, and shellfish...etc!!! What amazes me is that you can make a cheesecake in the Instant Pot?

I like making hard boiled eggs in the Instant Pot. It is quicker than regular cooking and they are super easy to peal and I am a fan of soups and I have made chicken broth with leftover chicken or turkey bones and then made soup out of it.

So needless to say I love my Instant Pot and this cookbook will get a lot of use!

I was pleased to win this book as a Goodreads Giveaway. As novice cook and a stranger to Instant Pot, I needed all the help I can get. I loved the book. I thought the recipes were clear and easy to follow.
I awarded four stars for the content but to have received a 5th star, there would need (for me) to have at least one picture of each of the dishes presented, and there were only a few pictures in the book. However, having read the recipes I would recommend purchasing the book as the lack of illustration appears to me to be the only flaw.

I won this fantastic cookbook from Goodreads First-reads. This cookbook really is The Ultimate Electric Pressure Cooker Cookbook for Cooking Everything Fast. Many Americans eat out at Fast Food Restaurants because they want food fast and think they don't have time to cook. This cookbook has some great recipes that will save you time, money, and your health. Chapter One begins with really interesting reading about a Healthy Obsession that you won't want to miss reading. It is important to know that the Instant Pot not only pressure cooks but functions as a slow cooker, yogurt maker and rice cooker. The recipes are great. I made several of the recipes before writing this review. I made the Individual Spinach Quiches in Ham Cups which was delicious and I highly recommend. Our family absolutely loved the Mashed Sweet Potatoes with Toasted Almonds and we can't wait to try the Easiest Mashed Potatoes recipe. We love Beans and Grains and tried the Lentils With Short Ribs for dinner. It was delicious and we highly recommend this recipe. There are many recipes in this cookbook that are well worth the money. Chapter 9 is dedicated to Desserts which look delicious. There are beautiful pictures of the food that will inspire you to cook. The back of the cookbook has time charts, measurement conversions, and a very nice recipe index. I highly recommend that you buy, gift, but most importantly buy, read, and make some recipes. You won't be disappointed.

Excellent info for this newbie

I've felt a bit overwhelmed with my new instant pot, and this book provided a thorough overview of the many ways to use the instant pot. It is very thorough. The recipes look great, and I am excited to dive in.

They call this the ultimate electric pressure cooker cook book for cooking everything fast. They should mention that this book is NOT for Beginners like me. Even though the book lists the different models of Instant Pots and how the functions are different I didn’t understand how that translated to the recipes in the book and my machine.

For example, I have the LUX 80 the author mentions that it only has 6 functions and the fact that the manual button doesn’t have two settings. SO, I didn’t know what to do when I’m following the recipe that tells me to put it on high/low? I couldn’t do either.

There were frequently asked questions and answers, but I didn’t know enough about this machine to know what I didn’t know.

The recipes I made were the Sweet and Sour Glazed Brussel Sprouts, Asparagus Ends Soup, Orange Chicken, ad Braised Green Beans with Bacon. My family loved the dishes I made but I didn’t love making them. I was stressed at the fact my model didn’t have the buttons she mentions. I didn’t know how to actually translate her instructions and fit them to the model cooker I have. If my husband (who is the regular cook in our home) didn’t step in and help me with all the meals I made they would have been liquid. He saved me so they were mushy but tasty.

I do need to watch some instant pot videos to understand how this all works. Once I get my decoder ring (experience) I’ll try more of these recipes. Maybe then they will be simple and fast for me.

This is a really comprehensive book for anyone new to instant potting (seems this should be a verb by now). With more than 100 recipes for any occasion, this is a great book for novices, but also for people with several years of experience in instant pots because the recipes are often unique and not the usual ones you find in other books. Settings and easy to see timelines are included with each recipe, making meal planning really easy and straightforward. I also like the fact that the author has the recipes nicely structured into vegetables and sides, desserts and breakfast ... This makes use of this book a no brainer when trying to come up with new recipes. I like the SW spin she put on some recipes such as pot roast and there are also some seasonal recipes, such as Pumpkin-based desserts.
Overall, a really good collections of recipes for anyone experimenting with the Instant Pot and looking for new challenges.

I checked out several Instant Pot recipe books from the library because I got an Instant Pot for Christmas and have really been enjoying it. I mostly get recipes on Pintrest but would consider buying a cookbook if there were a lot of recipes that I like in one book. I am looking for simple healthy recipes that I can make for breakfast and dinner on days that they kids have a lot of activities. I only found one recipe in this book that I was interested in. It was a steel cut oats recipe and every cookbook that I checked out had a steel cut oats recipe so this one will be going back to the library right away.

By now I've read a bunch of Instant Pot cook books and this, as well as Melissa Clark's book, is one of the best. The information outside of the recipes is comprehensive and well organized. Lots of tips, time cooking charts, and a recipe index. The first chapter is devoted exclusively to explaining and answering questions about the Instant Pot and I found it very helpful. The recipes themselves are written clearly with lots of info including calorie counts, cooking times, and icons for one pot/grain-free/dairy-free meals. I liked the Pantry List and the discussion on different cuts and types of meats was something I didn't know till now. I only wish there were more photographs!

Now that I have an Instant Pot, I've been looking for some easy recipes to try.

This book is divided up into 9 chapters of recipes like breakfast, meat, meatless mains, desserts, etc.

Each recipe is also labeled Gluten free or dairy free which is very helpful. The author stated at the beginning of the book that the recipes were developed and tested using the 6 quart duo instant pot. She also includes suggestions if you are wanting to double the recipe and some other tips and tricks.

Lots of variety of recipes, some easier than others. Can't wait to try them out!

I received a copy of this book complimentary for blog and social media review. All opinions are my own.

WOW this book is loaded with great recipes. It is nearly 3 times as thick as other books. That being said there are only 20 pictures. Thus the 3 star rating. I understand that to have a full page photo of each recipe might not be feasible but they could have either put small photos with each recipe or a collage of all the recipes in each section at the beginning of each section. I found several recipes that I will be making on a regular basis.

I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book provided by the publisher.

Great bunch of info in one book.

Janet A Zimmerman has put together the best info needed for everyday cooks using the Electric Pressure Cooker. Love, love my Instant Pot. A real game changer in saving time, energy and steps in the kitchen. Janet has some really good recipes. The charts of cooking times for meat, chicken and fish along with veggies is priceless. No, I don't know the author but I read a LOT of cookbooks and this is the best for my needs!!

Nice book- clear instructions. Some recipes are not really ideal for Instant Pot, and a couple recipes were not instant pot at all. I didn’t like that several recipes required you make a special condiment (recipe provided - chili paste, and adobo sauce) first. Would have liked it if a convenience item was suggested as an alternative.

I did see a few that I definitely will try such as carnitas and perhaps the caramel sauce.

Complicated Recipes

This is an extremely well-written and thorough guide to the Instant Pot, but the recipes generally are too complicated for cooks with little experience or whose families prefer simpler fare. Buy this cookbook for the information on the Instant Pot and on food in general, but get your Instant Pot recipes elsewhere. Unless, that is, you are comfortable cooking exotic recipes with many ingredients.

Good read

Love this cookbook .Janet Zimmerman really knows her pressure pots. I cooked hard boiled eggs in my new 3qt Instant Pot following her directions and I have never had them peel so easy. The shell almost fell off after cracking it. I'm definitely getting another book of hers.

There are so many of these Instant Pot books out there, it's insane. This one has a decent assortment of American recipes and it does include nutritional information, prep times. etc.. I'm not sure how good a cook the author is, but none of the recipes I looked at closely looked wrong, just not too much out of the ordinary.

This is one of those cookbooks that I started marking recipes I wanted to try and then realized I might as well just buy it. Yay for a reasonable eBook price on Amazon. So far I have made the Easiest Mashed Potatoes (with garlic of course) and they were AMAZING!

This book has a lot of good information about pressure cookers, but the recipes are very high in calories. Like a bowl of chili (no beans) or stew that are over 1000 calories?! I might as well be eating at a restaurant.

Some of the recipes look lovely and very creative, but I was hoping to learn more about the Instant Pot. She describes the different accessories (trivet, baking dish) but there are no pictures to visualize how to use the product.

I checked out all the Instant Pot cookbooks from my library. Not a bad cookbook, but it did not thrill me. Out of about 75 recipes, only a few are something I'd make. Personal taste, food preference issue.

The instructions from the Instant Pot manual for making yogurt were unclear to me. This cookbook provides the perfect yogurt-making instructions and also has great information on using the Instant Pot for making bone broths/stocks. I refer to this cookbook weekly.

Good info on IP

I was mostly impressed with the instruction/tips on using the IP, which I needed as a beginner. (My IP came with minimal info on how to use.). Haven't tried any recipes yet.
