Here come the Cream Puffs! Nate and his baseball team, saddled with the most embarrassing moniker in Little League history, want to show the world they’re not just a bunch of cupcakes. But it won’t be easy. Their opponents mock them. The local sports section misprints Nate’s name—THREE TIMES. And now, on the day of the big game, illness and injuries have the team facing a crushing defeat . . . unless the unlikeliest Cream Puff of all can come in from the bullpen and save the day. With a softhearted pitcher who channels his inner panda, a vengeful girlfriend who swings for the fences, and a healthy dose of Nate Wright mojo, the Cream Puffs just might have what it takes to stage an epic comeback. So grab a glove, smear on some eyeblack, and get in the game. You don’t want to miss a single moment of Revenge of the Cream Puffs!
Lincoln Peirce is a cartoon artist from Portland, Maine. He lives with his wife and two children, and occasionally gives lectures to students about cartoon creating. Peirce writes the comic strip "Big Nate". Peirce's comic strip, Big Nate, is featured as an island on the famous children's website, Poptropica. Big Nate appears as the first cartoon on The Maine Sunday Telegram in the comics section.
He studied art at Colby College in Maine were he began cartooning. He also studied at the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture before teaching art and coaching basketball at a New York highschool for 3 years. He currently plays hockey with "an old men's league" and describes it as his best sport as a child. In an interview with the Washington Post, Peirce stated that his last name is pronounced "purse" and is not a misspelling of "pierce."
Lincoln Peirce was a member of the "Surviving as a Print Cartoonist" Panel at the Maine Comics Art Festival with fellow cartoonists Corey Pandolph (Barkeater Lake, Toby: Robot Satan, The Elderberries), Norm Feuri (Retail, Gill) and with Mike Lynch moderating. On the panel Lincoln revealed he is currently working with some animation and licensing projects including the addition of a Big Nate island to the online game Poptropica.
If you have read Big Nate in the past, then this is the book for you. You will probably love to add it to your collection.
If, like me, you have never heard of this comic strip, then you will find this ok, but that is about it. It is a kids comic strip, about kids, but there is nothing that unusual about Nate. He is not Calvin of Calvin and Hobbs. He is not Charlie Brown of Peanuts.
The interaction between Nate and his friends was ok, but I got bored reading the whole thing at once.
Recommended to those who love the character.
And as a side note, I think it is sad that we can get so many comic strips online, that like TV shows, we are all consuming them differently, there is no longer a common thread. There is not the comic strips that everyone is reading and discussing, as there aren't shows that we are all watching when they are aired. It is a fragmenting of culture, and it is good, as there are so many options, but sad, as there is no continuity in the common culture.
Thanks to Netgalley for making this book available for an honest review.
Big Nate Revenge of the Cream Puffs is a really great book about persevering. It's also filled with lots and lots of humor, like most, or ALL Big Nate books. This book is really awesome because it's just about Nate's horrible life. On the day of his baseball team's championship game, he will face Randy, the bully at P.S. 38(his school). You'll have to see what happens... Read all about it in Big Nate Revenge of the Cream Puffs.
ive always loved comics especially big nate because they offer me a fun, lighthearted relief from anxiety and the heavier topics that cross my mind a lot :)
'Big Nate: Revenge of the Cream Puffs' by Lincoln Peirce is the umpteenth collection of these I've read, but I don't care, because they are so darn funny.
This time around, Nate's baseball team, the Cream Puffs, is in bad shape. They have lost their pitcher to an injury and the only replacement is Chad, who seems more interested in anything but the game. Along with baseball, Nate has to endure detention, decides to write a romance novel, and tries to correct the local newspaper as they keep misspelling his name.
I always get quite a few chuckles out of these collections, even though I've read a few different volumes. The humor is fun and definitely kid-friendly.
I received a review copy of this graphic novel from Andrews McMeel Publishing and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you for allowing me to review this graphic novel.

Hey guys! Today I am going to be reviewing a very quirky, fun book called Big Nate: Revenge of the Cream Puffs by Lincoln Peirce. This is a graphic novel series about a young boy, Nate, in middle school as he goes through middle school, encountering the many trials that a student faces, from losing in a baseball match to getting embarrassed by his dad. Lincoln adds a funny twist to every bit of the story, making the reader laugh out loud at every point, no matter what his or her age is. *I received an ARC of this book via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review*
I would just like to start off by saying that I do not have much experience with graphic novels unfortunately, I have recently started and I hope to continue because I AM LOVING THEM so far. They are so incredibly detailed and so much fun to read!
I absolutely adored the artwork in this book, it was simple and consistent, and it felt like I was watching an animated movie as I flipped through the pages. The drawings of the characters, the settings and even the speech bubbles were very cute, articulate and creative and I would not mind reading another book in this series just to look at the pictures!
This is a middle- grade book which I don’t read a lot of, but when I do, I enjoy it a lot. I recently “graduated” from middle school, so it was a lot of fun reading something that I could relate to. Nate goes through very common things in this book like, flunking a test, having ideas that he thinks could make him a millionaire, having verbal, very stupid battles with his best friends and facing his silly fear (of a cat). I could relate to this a lot because as stupid and silly as they sound, we all went through them, and because this author is quite clever to make it funny, it is even more enjoyable to read.
It is not quite a long book, you can probably finish it in about 20-30 minutes but is quite a lot of fun to read. It is is a quick break from dragons and soulmates of the YA world; a refresher of sorts. While you are in a book slump or a readathon, I would definitely recommend reading this book. It is quick, light hearted and just a nice way to pass your time:)
The characters in this book were very funny and of all sorts, if I may add. All the middle school stereotypes are played very truthfully in this book and it is hilarious as they come together as a class! There is the nerd, the geek, the class clown, the topper, the fat kid, the sidekicks and the mean girl; bringing a book out of those characters, you know it is going to be funny.
I gave this book a 3 out of 5 stars because I really liked it but it was not all that extraordinary. It was short but it was a LOT of fun. One thing that I was not please about was that I had to read it on my laptop which I do not normally like to do. Other than that I do not think I had any complaints with it!
If you like Diary of a Wimpy Kid, I would definitely recommend this.
This book comes out of Sept 6, 2016 so mark the date on your calendars if you think this book might be up your alley! I look forward to reading more from this author in the near future!
Several comic strips in this collection Nate's adventures at home and in the classroom as well as on the baseball field where he plays for the, ahem, Cream Puffs. Readers will get to know more about Nate and his various friends, including Chad, Teddy, and Francis, and his father, in this humorous series of strips. Readers should be forewarned, though, that the entire book is not about little league baseball or the Cream Puffs as readers might surmise from the title. Still, the strips are amusing and insightful in their own way and cover unrequited crushes from Kim to Nate, dogs that get in trouble all the time, and teacher drama. Fans of Nate will enjoy having all of these strips in one place and may be quite amused with all the goings-on. Personally, I find Chad quite endearing with his gentle ways and connections with all the animals around him, and I was thrilled to see him become one of the heroes of the important baseball game described here. After all, one never knows who might become the next hero. The "Yo Mama" scenes are hilariously clever, and the scenes in which Nate and his father go shopping for clothing, and his dad thinks the saleswoman is hitting on him made me guffaw.
Despite the baseball team mentioned in the title, most of this takes place in school, where Nate—who is definitely not that big—spends all his time in detention, which leads him to write a romance novel. Other plots include a “Yo Momma” showdown and a grudge chess match, where Nate pulls a move out of my playbook; hope none of my usual opponents read this. He’s a bit of a butt monkey, so there might be some cringing, especially with the big girl who thinks he’s her boyfriend, but luckily it’s usually laughable. Nothing goes over the top, which I think is a good thing, although some people would disagree.
Another selection of weird and droll comic strips from the world's favourite 'goofy tweenaged male disaster area not called Wimpy Kid.' While some of the subjects of the strips in their daily format, that amount to full two- or 3-week stories, can be unusual (case in hand, the local newspaper misprinting Nate's name), there is a lot of familiarity in the content, and it all works as a reasonably entertaining glimpse of this humorous world.
My son is a a huge Big Nate fan. Has read all his books. I gave this to him. He is the appropriate age, twelve. He loved it. Actually he loved it 4 times so far. I recommend this book to all the kids who dig Nate and his buddies.
Meet Nate Write, he is a fun baseball loving sixth grader. But he has one problem, he has the most embarrassing little league team ever: “The Cream Puffs.” Their Opponents mock them for their team name, and the newspaper misprints Nate’s name three times! Now it's the big game and multiple injuries leave the team at a disadvantage. Can Nate and his friends, Francis and Teddy band together to win the biggest game of the season? Or will it be all over.
“Revenge of the Cream Puffs” is an amazing graphic novel all about friendships and baseball. Pierce made a very funny and well written dialog to go with very relatable characters. I felt as if i was right there with Nate and his friends throughout the entire story. The timeline and organization throughout the book made it very understandable and wonderful to read.
“Revenge of the Cream Puffs’’ is an exciting, relatable, and humorous story. I recommend this book to whoever loves funny comics and good baseball stories. That is why I would call this story a must read book.
This book is amazing and this isn't me being sarcastic . This book is a 10/10 and I surely think anyone would enjoy this book . If you thought school adventures were great , the summer time is 10 times better . Nate has free time on his hands to hang out with his friends and gets to have fun summer adventure . If you thought school was funny as is , summer is going to be way more funny . I promised you won't regret reading this book !!! This book is awesome for any age , so get Big Nate Revenge of the Cream Puffs NOW !!!!
Ah, a classic episodic comic. This was a quick read, and I can understand why kids really enjoy this book and others like it. The humor was sometimes at the expense of other kids, which I didn't entirely like. Some of the humor was mature, and while not all kids will get it, those who don't will likely be intrigued by it at the very least.
I would recommend this to kids who like funny books and to reluctant readers. Admittedly, this book is very gendered towards boys, but I could see some girls being interested.
It's Big Nate, need I say more. In his super hilarious comic strips he's always trying to be a little wiseguy. You'll definitely get a laugh or two out of it. It's aimed to children, BUT, as an adult I still enjoy them very much, so I'm gonna go with the five on this one.
Kids love these books. I guess they can relate to a lot to Nate’s strife’s with school and chores.
The book is a comedy strip and it is a good book for 13 and younger. I liked the book because it showed a middle school kid that is a class clown and there was jokes on every comic strip. But it did had some down falls like bad jokes, really not exciting, and a little to childish. I think that if the book focus on one thing on the comic for like 30 or more pages it would be a book that would like. But The Big Nate Book Revenge Of The Cream Puffs is alright book.

3rd the same time as well as well I have a new day of the week and a I half expect that that
I gave this a try since this is a popular book series in the library. I am not a big fan of graphic novels but this isn't even really like a graphic novel but more like a series of comic strips all together in one book. Some of them relate to each other and some of them do not. It is kind of like the Garfield books of my generation. I'm not really a fan but I can see the appeal for my readers.
