When Jesus gave the Great Commission—to go to the world with the gospel—He didn’t give it as a theoretical possibility for anyone who might be interested. He gave it as a direct command—a personal commission to those He would leave to carry the gospel message as He ascended to Heaven. This Great Commission is not only God’s plan to reach the world, but it is His command to every Christian to personally share the gospel with the lost.
Indeed, most Christians want to share their faith, but many wonder how. How do you initiate a gospel conversation? How do you share the gospel itself? How do you lead someone to a decision to trust Christ? And how do you explain baptism to a new Christian or lead them toward spiritual maturity?
In this practical manual, learn how to share the gospel, how to follow up on new Christians, how to cultivate relationships with people not yet saved, and how to involve young Christians in growth and gospel witness.
Take It Personally will encourage and equip you to own the Great Commission as your personal responsibility and to obey it as you share the life-changing message of the gospel.
Dr. Paul Chappell is the senior pastor of the Lancaster Baptist Church and president of West Coast Baptist College in Lancaster, California. His biblical vision has led the church to become one of the most dynamic independent Baptist churches in the nation. He has been married to his wife for over thirty-six years and is the father of four married children all serving in Christian ministry. His books can be found at http://www.strivingtogether.com.
This is an encouraging and readable guide to sharing the gospel. It gives basic tips and instructions for presenting the gospel in door-to-door evangelism, follow-up visits, to family and friends, and also gives a structure to follow in discipling the newly-saved believer.
Filled with Scripture, this book helps remove much of the fear and uncertainty often felt by Christians with regards to sharing the gospel, either in formal or informal settings and would be a helpful read for those just starting out in their church’s soulwinning program.
Another good book by Paul Chappell. As with many of Pastor Chappell's books this is incredibly practical and not an incredibly deep read. This is a great challenge for people who desire to win souls and even those in the church who need a little push to help start the process of winning souls.
Concise, practical, & inspirational guide for "owning" the Great Commission. I like the fact that this can be taught as a four week series with accompanying workbooks.
