USA TODAY bestselling author Stephanie Bond was seven years deep into a systems engineering career and pursuing an MBA at night when an instructor remarked that she had a flair for writing and suggested that she submit to academic journals. But Stephanie, a voracious reader, was only interested in writing fiction–more specifically, romantic fiction.
Upon completing her master’s degree and with no formal training in writing (her undergraduate degree is in computer programming), she started writing a romance novel in her spare time. Two years later in 1995 she sold her first manuscript, a romantic comedy, to Harlequin Books.
In 1997, with ten sales under her belt to two publishers, Stephanie left her corporate job to write women’s romantic fiction full-time. In 2011,
Stephanie launched a self-publishing business. Since that time, she has sold more than 1 million copies of her own books. To-date, Stephanie has published over 70 novels and has over 6 million copies of her work in worldwide distribution in numerous languages and formats.
Still entertaining with a witty protagonist and her unrelenting stream of visitors who continue to give her, albeit unwittingly, the breakdown of her life as it goes on without her verbal presence.
This is part 2 of 6 part daily serial, part two is the month of August.
Loving the concept of this daily serial, a girl in a coma after an unfortunate traffic accident, able to hear all the conversations of family, friends, police, doctors, medical staff & anyone else that decides to visit, without any of them realising that she can hear everything.
I’m still enjoying this serial, interesting, funny in places and even a bit of a shocking revelation at the end of part 2 which is a bit of a cliff hanger too.
So with that said, I’m heading straight into part 3 which is the month of September.
Great twists and turns can't wait to read book 3. If you have the time and trust me theses are quick reads so you have the time you have got to read these books. I'm off to read book 3. Bye bye for now.,........................................................................................................
>Book Review – Coma Girl >I am an independent reviewer. These books are a 6 part serial that ends in an HEA. Marigold is mentally alert, but stuck in a coma. As she gets visitors, they begin to unburden themselves and she learns TMI about her entire family, friends and even strangers. The story is both heartwarming and heart breaking. There is an unusual amount of humor, especially with Marigold’s aunt Winnie and her wanna be psychic friend who is more miss than hit. >The book also highlights the kindness of strangers. There is a little girl, especially, who seems to know exactly when Marigold needs a little mental pick-me-up. There are also instances of incredible cruelty, as some hospital workers refer to Marigold’s room and roommates as the “vegetable patch”. >Social media takes off, creating an internet sensation with “Coma Girl”. Along with all of this attention, the reality of the crazies really is quite scary. The scenes where Marigold attempts to communicate were poignant. The whole experience creates a new outlook for Marigold, as secrets are revealed. I had a different HEA in mind for her, though. >These books are appropriate for an adult audience. I am giving the serial 5 stars. The story is a quick read and so very entertaining.
In A Nutshell:Marigold Kemp is in a coma following a car crash. Marigold can hear, but nobody knows that for sure. So, it leads to a fantastic cast of characters including her dysfunctional family, crazy friends, members of the justice system and hospital staff letting their emotional guard down. You will laugh, perhaps shed a tear, but Coma Girl will enthral readers. Clever, funny and thought-provoking.
The Protagonist(s):Marigold Kemp is the middle child in a family of three. And so in many ways, Marigold appears the forgotten child. Her elder brother is a war hero and her younger sister the brain box. Written in the first person, Marigold aka Coma Girl gets to hear all sorts of secrets and confessions which she processes with dry humour.
I have covered Coma Girl 1 -5 in this review. The stories are so addictive I just had to keep on going. The story begins with Marigold hospitalized following a car accident that led to severe head trauma and her coma. The book is in the style of diary entries and starts on 1 July. There are plenty of twists and laughs in every entry.
Over the course of six months, Marigold becomes the social media sensation Coma Girl. And that brings additional pressure to Marigold's case and the other patients in the 'vegetable patch' which is what some hospital workers call the coma ward.
Readers will meet the detective Jack Terry who is investigating her case. And the head-on collision involving NFL star player Keith Young is not all it seems. There is the dedication of Dr. Jarvis, and the ethical lines one will's the professionals to cross. And some people are just so dang frustrating. Grrr. And others like Marigold's mum and sister are callous at times.
But there is plenty of humour, provided by Coma Girl, her wonderful aunt Winnie and Roberta, the best friend. There are also quirky characters like Sister Irene. All of them make for witty dialogue.
Coma Girl is a novel concept that might sound boring but is anything but! Highly recommended

My rating system (* = star) 0* Could not finish this book (waste of time) 1*Finished the book but didn't like it not fulfilled 2* Finished the book it was okay. 3* A good read worth your time. 4* An excellent read often with a novel concept or unusual plot. 5* A magnificent read. A prominent example of the genre.
Hey and boo! Guys and Dolls - First… HAPPY HALLOWEEN 👻🎃🧙♀️🐈⬛ 🎉 Second… OH SNAP! I love how Stephanie ended this book, but I have such an overthinking mind that my first thoughts besides “Oh Snap!” are, “How did they not know? She’s been in the hospital 8 weeks, so docs should have known the day she was admitted or shortly after.” Then, “It’s a mistake and the new drug is causing a false positive. Or it’s just a mistake.” Next, “Oh! Oh! Did one of the men that visit her - or hospital staff - do that to her?” Hmmm…
What I do know is that Stephanie’s stories are always so riveting. Wow! Talk about originality and creativity. I actually wanted to read Stephanie’s Grave Girl (I think that’s the series name), but all books haven’t released yet, so I chose the next most interesting and that was Coma Girl. I just knew I had to read another series by Stephanie, because Elevator Girl was so outstanding. I’m utterly hooked on this author since then.
Keep up the amazing stories, SB! See you in my next review! Devices to your cabooses!
PS - From the moment (in the first book) he sat down to read poetry to Marigold, I’ve suspected the poetry guy is none other than Keith.
This story has suddenly become more interesting! Young was drunk. Her mother has become a well known realtor because of her coma, her parents are at odds relationship-wise, Audrey and Joanna are not happy with their current lives... so both are awake and comatose! The final cliff hanger is Marigold is pregnant, leaving me to wonder who is raping her... the Detective, Dr. Jarvis, the orderlies, or Poetry Man?? How many months is she pregnant, more than two or less...??? Slowly getting into this series now, as part 2 is much more revealing than part, one as one gets a look into the characters’ personality. Must Read!!
Coma Girl is a 6 part serial following Marigold Kemp as she tries to recover from a serious head injury caused by a car accident. Marigold has visitors who aren't certain that they can be heard, so the interactions with her in a vegetative state is...interesting.
I really enjoyed the concept of this serial. Each installment was a month in the ward. The things Marigold became a witness to were sometimes heartbreaking but many times hilarious. I found this story entertaining and refreshing. It was also interesting that there was little if any description for the characters, so it allowed my imagination to run wild. Cool concept. Maybe offer a boxset??
Marigold is the narrator, and she's in a coma. She can hear everything going on around her, but she can't respond. She was injured in a car accident, but can't remember what happened. Her sister was in the car, and says the other driver crossed the center lane. The other driver is a famous football player who just happened to be driving drunk.
There are so many interesting characters in this series. I don't want to spoil the story.
I love Stephanie Bonds stories. When I saw Coma Girl I though, how can she possibly writer 6 Short books on this subject..Not only did she do it but kept it interesting, exciting, and humerous to the point I would laugh out loud. This is a great series and I couldn't put it down. I've enjoyed her other books but this was even better and though provoking. Exellent!!!
Absolutely delightful and heartwarming installment in the story of coma girl. It is funny, sarcastic, witty, and touching all at once. The cliffhanger ending in book two was a bombshell!. I just wish it was one book rather than six. But the technique of a daily diary one month at a time makes it easy to adapt to. I cant wait to begin book three
I was intrigued by the first book and was enjoying the second but the twist at the end of the book has me worried it’s about to go off the rails. I’ll keep reading because they are Kindle Unlimited books and I’m not out any additional money if I don’t like it.
Omg this book is awesome. This family sounds like mine sometimes I feel like a ghost in my family. You well love Marigold and her with in this book. Can't wait to read the next book. Hurry and one click its hilarious.
I can't seem to get enough of this book. It's like watching a soap opera without the bad acting. I'm just loving meeting these people and getting glimpses of their lives that they refuse to acknowledge. This is making me think about my own life. Wow!! Marigold is my hero.
I still do not like the family members (the father seems okay), but I really do like this story. You really start to feel for coma girl, but also for the others ones in her room. I will go on with the next book.
Every one of the Coma Girl books kept my interest. The protagonist throughout the story is a young woman in a coma. How could that be interesting? Believe me, it was! Kudos to the author for creating this unusual, entertaining series of books.
I actually enjoyed it a bit more than the first book. The thing that annoys me a bit it is that, now I have to read the third part to follow the last news that appeared in the end of the second part...
Four stars. Very entertaining despite the kinda dark setup. Have you ever wanted to be a fly on the wall and hear what your friends and family really think?
