Carly DiMarco, ex-hacker and bass player of a struggling all-girl rock group, is in deep shit. Stranded in the middle of nowhere, Nevada and with no money to make it home after their last desperate plan falls through, Carly is forced to accept a hacking job; something she swore she wouldn't ever go back to. She has no idea who her new boss really is, but they clearly know her, a fact that becomes crystal clear when she’s face down in a bar parking lot with a man’s arm around her neck.
Former Marine Stanton Morse is…complicated, to say the least. To the public he’s a hacker who sold out to corporate America, touting the next big thing on the tradeshow circuit. But to DARC Ops and the hacker underground, he’s Tansy, your go-to genius for when you need the job done fast and without a trace. When DARC is brought on board with a top secret case, Tansy recognizes the code that managed to break through one of the FBI’s servers—Carly's name is stamped all over it. He hasn't heard from his friend in nearly a decade, not since she cut all ties one night without even an explanation. When he tracks her down, the gun pointed at her head spins his reality out of control.
Will he be able to save Carly and work with her to bring down the organization targeting them both, or will Carly’s secrets from years ago kill them first?
Really hard to like, so I won't. These two are very unsympathetic especially Carly, but maybe that's what hackers are like. It's hard to feel sorry for her, since she was doing essentially what she wanted while finding a rationale for it. Even after it blew up in her face, she basically blew it off and became a dope dealer. Tough one to like and not a great story, either.
Man this story killed me. It was soooo slow in the beginning. It took 13 or 14 chapters for the H/h to even interact. But once they did it started to pick up. But for me a little to late, won't be continuing with this series.
Dark Web is the second book in the DARC OPS series by Jamie Garrett and it has action and drama, suspense and thrills and spills and romance. I enjoyed the first book and just like the first book you will find yourself getting caught up in this story because of the world and characters Jamie has created.
Carly has a past she would rather forget but when things go from bad to worse for her and her friends, she takes on a job that even she is not sure about but what she finds is bigger than she ever imagined. What she finds is someone from her past that may just be her saviour. But with the clock ticking can they pull the plug on trouble before trouble finds them?
I enjoyed this continuation of the DARC OPS boys and their women. I look forward to the next installment.
Oh boy what trouble has Tansy got himself into????? Carly is a part of Tansy’s past that he thought he had lost forever but when Carly is down and almost out she comes out of retirement for one job just to pay the bills to get her and her band mates back on track, little does she know the trouble she’s about to get herself into and that her past is about to come back and haunt her. Tansy and Carly meet for the first time in circumstances that really aren’t ideal and then have to work together to save both of their butts. This book is part of a series but can be read as a stand-alone book.
I could not get into the story of the characters. In my opinion, the characters were not fleshed out well. The story circles around computers and hacking; two subjects of which I have little knowledge. It may very well be an interesting plot to people who are more tech savvy. I had a difficult time finishing this book, because it did not keep my attention for more than a few minutes at a time.
The next installment in the DARC Ops books features Tansy and Carly. And man do they heat up the pages. I really enjoyed getting to know Tansy and who he is. And he's a sweetheart!!! I loved their story and breezed through this book! The plot seemed will thought-out and flowed really well as all of Jamie's books do. If you liked the first DARC Ops book, you'll love this one just as much! I cant wait to read about the other members.
Carley and tansy was hackers when they were teenagers but unexpectedly carley ended the relationship before meeting in person. Carley stopped hacking and was in a band and tansy went to war and then DARC. Years later they work together but for the right reason.
Another suspense filled story continuing the DARC Ops saga. There was tension between Carly and Tansy for several reasons. When they finally got together, it was hot!! Looking forward to book 3.
Hot fast if you know even a little about the web, the mix of action, inaction excites. Add hot romance, military, physical action & intrigue you have it all in Jamie’s Dark Web. I really enjoyed it.
I was given this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Carly and Tansy had a past, they hadn't met but became friends through hacking. But Carly had to cut ties to Tansy to save him from getting caught up in her mess. Years later he comes to her rescue and they finally meet. Seeing the story from both pov just made me want them to meet sooner to clear the past. These two has so much history even before meeting. Even when the truth came out of why Carly cut ties and he was angry with her, he still worried about her and wanted to take care if her. When they finally let go and get it on OMG HOOOTTT!!!!! These two have such great chemistry and once they let go of the past? Well it all falls it to place for them. Of course if they survive the terrorist and the FBI :) a piece of cake.
I was looking forward to this book after reading the first in the series and getting to meet Tansy. He didn't disappoint! If I'm honest I would have liked a bit more description of him but the cover model did the job. I've heard a lot about the Dark Web recently in real life so this came at the right time. It was sometimes a little confusing but then I'm not that nerdy, I'll leave that to Tansy and Carly. Great characters, as usual with Jamie Garrett's books. Sexy men and strong women with a strong plot and backstory. Great. I was given this book as an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
This is Tansy and Carly,s story in the Darc Ops series. They've known each other for years but never met in person. He could not forget her. Past indiscretions cone back to haunt Carly. While on a case, Tansy realizes that Carly is involved in a hacking scheme. Does she want out and at what cost? This book can be read on its own but I do recommend reading book 1 for background info.
I still got irritated with this book with the characters ALWAYS thinking, UGH. But it was the story that kept me wanting more.
Yes we get a third DARC Opps employee but not the real one I was interested in, Matthias. Oh, well. Jackson, Tansy & Jasper will have to do.
Another thing I like about these books is that it's not ALL about the romance scenes!! It might have taken them all the way to 80%, but hey at least it wasn't TOO much. The scenes were hot too!!
Desperate times call for desperate measures when Carly finds herself jobless and broke while on tour with her band. Slipping back into her old life is just a temporary fix. Tansy, the man who saved her from herself before, is the only one that can save her now....
When Carly dropped out of Tansy's cyber life 10 years ago he has never be able to forget her. When Carly finds herself stranded and penniless, along with her band. She feels she has no choice but to do one more job. Tansy recognizes Carly's cyber signature right away. Carly has no idea how dangerous this "last job" is. Her past could cost her her life. Can Tansy save her?
Have you ever made a mistake that can define your life? Carly and Tansy are hackers. Desperate for money Carly takes on another job. When Tansy realises what Carly's latest job is, will he be able to save her from both her latest assignment and her past mistakes? A great story and a gripping read.
It had been a while since I read book 1, but I found that the beginning of this book dragged a bit for me. I didn't really get into the story until about the 50% mark. I loved the second half of the book but felt it could have been expanded on a little more. The end also seemed abrupt.
I absolutely loved this book! It was fast paced and kept you on your toes throughout the whole book! I loved Tansy and Carly's story. I can't wait to see what Jamie comes out with next!
