One night. That was all it took for the world to be forever changed. Creatures that once lived in the shadows rose, spreading like a plague across the globe, swallowing whole cities and collapsing unprepared governments.
Survivors call it The Purge.
In the months since, every night has been a struggle against the supernatural terrors that thrive in the darkness. The days are no better, with constant battles against human traitors that have chosen to serve the new overlords.
But an end to the nightmare is finally at hand.
Mercer's army is in disarray, and Danny and Gaby have returned to the Trident with precious cargo. Meanwhile, Keo is a marked man behind enemy lines, and Lara once again finds herself tested as the answer she and the other survivors have been waiting for is finally revealed.
In the finale to The Purge of Babylon series, the future of mankind is at stake. Sacrifices will be made and heroes will be forged, and the road to Babylon will be paved with the deeds of the brave...and the Bones of the dead.
This was a solid ending to the purge series. This might have simply been because I knew it was the last book of the series but it was probably my favourite book of the series. For me it went back to the roots of what made me interested in the series in the first place. It was fast paced and tense throughout the story. The ending was okay but concluded satisfactorily.
My problems on the series as a whole still stand. The characters are all one dimensional with poor character development and the repetition grains me. The plodding pace in the middle books proves the series should have been three- four books shorter. it was clear Sissavath was dragging the series out. He is the reason I don't buy books part of long series anymore.
However, I'm glad I made it through to the end of this story.
What a fitting end to what's been an exciting, tense and dramatic series. I've loved every book but was secretly dreading the final instalment. The reason for this is on occasion, authors haven't been able to finish a series in a suitable way. Sam Sisavath however has been able to do that and he's done it extremely well. I don't want to say too much as I don't want to spoil it but I would highly recommend this series of books. I will be reading them all again and are by far one of my favourite series of all time.
The story of Will and Danny ended better than I ever thought it could. Yes, this was Will and Danny's story from the first to the last page of nine glorious novels. The fact that we have Keo intertwined throughout the series is a big bonus, for me. We always knew that Will and Danny were two straight-up guys, but the character of Keo has come a long way and collected many scars. I feel this series is a labor of love by Sam Sisavath for his fans. I'm sure countless others join me in thanking Mr. Sisavath for the many hours of exciting entertainment. We lost many good and memorable characters along the way that serve as enrichment of the story. Letting go of them brought about a higher purpose in the storyline. Are you a fan of horror and dystopia? If you, the reader, have not immersed yourself in this series I highly recommend you start at the beginning with The Purge of Babylon. You will find no regrets as you adapt and survive. As always, happy reading. And do something even if it's wrong.
Fantastic end to a really enjoyable series. So glad I stuck with it. Sam, in your epilogue you mention a load of people who sent terrible feedback- I thoroughly disagree. It was creative, plausible and interesting. Thanks mate. You've made my commute in London bearable for almost a full year. That's a major diffference to my life. Keep writing buddy.
A week later, I’m still rolling Will’s fate around in my head. I knew it was going end this way as soon as Keo was brought in to the story. He just seemed to fill Will’s shoes. Don’t get me wrong, I like Keo but I just had a feeling he was Will’s replacement and that’s not a criticism!
I think Will’s fate suited his character and the story. I didn’t want it to happen that way but I think the series was raised higher by doing this.
It was nice to see Lara really come into her own. She really grew over the course of the series and considering I couldn’t stand her when I first read book 1 a couple of years ago - that’s quite an achievement (although I’ve just re-read book 1 and revised my opinion)!! Gaby, too, has come a long way since her introduction.
Overall, I’m gonna miss these guys although I believe there’s a spin off set 5 years on ... but first the Keo “side” book.

The end of a Saga... Thank you Mr Sisavath for one of the best post-apocaliptic horror in recent years. Compelling characters, an exciting narrative and flawless technical details. ******Spoilers******
Altough its a masterpiece, i feel that the story dragged in some parts and that we really deserved to know more about Mabry, who was he, what was he, how was he turned into the "Father" ghoul, why the blue eyes, and so on and on.
I leave with too many questions for a 10 book series! There was always a plan z so how could that DST question even come up. The person in ? prepared for everything. You’re telling me this is the end yet you still haven’t answered a lot of questions about the creatures or ended anything. I have several ?’s but overall the book was enthralling. I was disappointed at the ending and was in tears. I don’t cry because of the book, I know it’s not real, but for humanity. What kind of world have we morphed into when books don’t have happy endings, or movies kill off the star and the monsters don’t die in the end. All in an attempt to be more realistic when in fact in my humble opinion the world is enough of that on its own. I grew up when even when dad yelled a tad to loudly at mom, or you had to watch out for bad men in the streets you could at least pick up a book and dream of being Cinderella. I can’t stand to be in this new world that drills into our kids heads that there is nothing left anymore that gives you a happy ending. Maybe I’m a dreamer or just old but I much prefer the time when we gave our kids hope, dreams and faith instead of bloody reality! Don’t get me wrong I’m still a fan I just hoped you wouldn’t go this new way of today by keeping the monsters in the closet. Anyway I would still read your books I can’t take away your skill as a writer. I guess I just hoped you’d do better in the end 😐
I'm basing this rating on all 9 books - and I think the rating is fair considering all 9 are basically the same in writing, characters, story, etc.
The story/concept is great. I got the first 3 for free via Amazon and I was hooked. What prevents the series from getting a higher score is the horrendous jokes, dialogue and middle-school romances that are riddled throughout the series. No heterosexual man I know would ever give one crap and a monkey piss if some 18YO girl was kissing one boy on Monday and another on Thursday - especially when they were in the middle of a firefight with undead vampire monkeys. Yet, half of this series reads like a Sweet Valley High novel aimed at 11 year love-sick middle-schoolers.
And the "jokes"? They are terrible. Danny and Keo are supposed to be the comedic flavour of the series and neither are remotely funny. I've laughed more at funerals than the jokes offered in these books.
Lastly, I felt these 9 books could have easily been condensed to 4. There's a lot of filler that could have been stripped away. But then it would be tougher to make more money. Why write 4 when you can write 9?
All in all, I can't say that I wouldn't recommend this series. I was entertained and I ended up sloshing thru 9 books - each of which is about 500 pages. But for anyone thinking of reading this series, be prepared for a lot of bad dialogue and Grade 6 romances.
Wow!!! I just finished the 9th and final book in this series and I’m sad the see the characters go. Over the series I had come to know and be very fond of Will, Danny, Lara and all the other characters. As I reflected after closing the cover of the last book I realized that the series was, to me, more than a dystopian story. I witnessed a beautiful love story about Lara and Will and to realize, once again, that no matter what happens in our lives we are blessed and uplifted by the love we receive and the love we give. I was left with a large lump in my throat and tears in my eyes, something that rarely happens with other books I read.
If SiFi, fantasy or dystopian stories are your niche then this series is for you. Just be aware that you to may find yourself with the same lump and tearful eyes when you finish.
I could not imagine it ending any other way but cried like a baby. I fell in love with the characters and cried when one of them died but the ending was the biggest saddest, yet satisfying ending. It had to end this way - nothing else would have made sense. Kudos to the author for being brave enough to kill off major characters - it gave the story line a real gutwrenching feeling. It was a truly epic tale told through 9 books. I look forward to reading more of his works.
I cannot recommend this series enough! Very well written, keeps you in the grip of the story. I read the series, each book, back to back because I had to know what happened going forward. There’s romance, death, heart ache . . . You name it, it’s got it. Honestly, kept me on the edge of my seat. Basically, follows two Army Rangers through the end of the world as we know it . . . Earth taken over by another species, and a bunch of survivors that continue to survive. One of the more interesting survival series out there. Highly recommend!!
Great series, it started out a little slow, character devopment was a little slow but if you can hang in there until book 2 or three it really takes off into one great story.
Great story,it starys off lkind of slow but if you can hang in there it really takes off by book 2. From book 2 the story really gets good by book 6 its hard to put down.well worth the read. Enjoy
Would love, of course, to see the series go on forever. And of course to have Will and Lara somehow be together. But this final book was surprising and interesting. Definitely not as "edge of your seat" powerful as the first five books, but made up for it in it's creativity. Overall a satisfying end to the series! I look forward to reading any and all add on books.
I am speechless, this book, well, the entire Babylon series has been great. I haven't read like this for quite some time and I am hoping to continue with " extended Babylon series which I know Sam is more than capable of and owes me for becoming so interested in his novel".
A storyline that always twists and turns as fabulous characters fight an apocalypse to the...... The author promises more from Babylon. This is as good as Stephen King's The Stand. He left evil with almost nothing left. Can good make a comeback? Keep reading the next series.
All 9 books in this series where really good, always wanted to read 1 more page. No really dull spots where I usually lose interest. This is not the usual Hero always wins type of book, there is horror, love, loss, sadness which makes it unpredictable. If you are an apocalypse fan I highly recommend this series.
One of the best series I've read in a long time! When I started with book one, I never thought I would practically shut myself away to back-to-back read this series. But I did because of the depth of the characters. The story of human frailties and weakness. The story of men and women coming together to fight a unbeatable foe. I had to read this story!
What a ride this series has been!!!!! Luckily, there's more!!!! Just under a different series name. Action, love, hate, laughter (SO much laughter!!!), everything you ever wanted in a great series of this type, is in these 9 (10 really) books!!!! I hope y'all enjoy this series as much as I have!!!!!!
Thank you for the thrilling ride. I can't wait to continue the journey. I have read so many of these types of series but Dang this one was the best by far. Forget the naysayers and keep them coming. Did I mention I read all 9 in a week? A bit tired and got to sleep before I can get started again. To your continued health!
I just finished reading the entire series for the second time. There is SO MUCH to love about these books....The characters, the storyline that keeps you guessing. Anyone who loves THE REMAINING series (when it was still self-published) should jump right in! WELL DONE, Mr. Sisavath, well done. Pretty sure I will read it again next year ;)
This has become one of my favorite series of books. Just finished my third read. This is the bar for other series of this genre. I have read almost everything Sam has written. In each series his story and character development is outstanding. The story should be picked up by Netflix or Amazon. TWD, move over!
I spent the few chapters in tears. I will most definitely be reading the next book, & the next one, & the never one..... Thank you Mr. Sisavath I truly enjoyed this story.
I enjoyed all the books in this series. I'm glad the author "wrapped up" the series, even though it wasn't the ending I wanted, it was still good. I'll definitely check out other books by this author.
I enjoyed the series so much. I even signed up with Amazon prime so I could get the books faster without costing my paycheck. The back and forth commentary between Danny and everybody was really fun.
The title says it all. One of the best series that I have read. Even the ending was spectacular. I highly recommend this book and this series to fans of good fiction!
