Searching in the secret city of Shangri-La, deep in the mountains of the Himalayas, Allora finds information that will lead toward the true purpose of the Eye of the Titans. It will also awaken a dormant enemy who's been waiting for the right time to strike.
At the end of the Rebel Wars, a sleeper agent, code-named Hades, wreaked havoc among the Guardians. The information he passed on to the King of Sonora led to the death of many high ranking agents, including Allora's uncle and Sas' father. Now, he's been activated again.
The only way that Allora can expose the traitor is to find the one item that he covets most. Hades is after an ancient scroll from the lost city of Alexandria, which carries a key piece of information that could lead to the destruction of Earth. Allora will test her limits, face new enemies, and figure out that in the game of secrets, no one is safe.
I'm a writer, skier, and wanderer. I grew up in Portland, Oregon, but currently live in the beautiful mountain resort town of Sun Valley, Idaho. I love history, mythology, and the fantastical interpretations that have been incorporated in my debut young-adult urban fantasy series called Sonora.
I never read the first book, but apparently, a bunch of kids who are sort of demigods are mixed up in end of the world type shenanigans, looking to find a traitor in Shangri-La. To smoke him out, they have to find what the traitor wants.
Light adventure. A nice change for the dis-topian stuff so prevalent in YA fiction.
No rating. DNF. It's kind of a YA New Age/science fiction/fantasy thing, and I just can't get into it. I don't know any teenagers who are this purely good. These kids are good even when they screw up.
I have reached the conclusion that if teenagers are ever going to save the world, it will be the nerds and misfit kids that do it. Personal bias, here.
I received this book from Goodreads in exchange for an honest review.

Characters - 4 - while some of the characters are well developed some seem to be left in the dark. I didn't read the first book in the series so I may have missed some of the character development. Thus a 4 star rating instead of three. Settings - 5 - so of the imagery used made me wish I could enter the book and explore this world. Plot - 3 - again, I may have missed something from the first book and my rating reflects that. Some chapters of the book are fast passed, interesting, and full of great description. Other chapters seem to go on and on like a dull high school teachers lecture.
I would not recommend this book as my favorite but I wouldn't try to discourage someone from reading it either.
I read the first book and I guess I liked it because I gave it a good rating but it's been a long time since I read it. This book however is terrible. I couldn't even finish it. The one thing that really struck me as annoying was how many times people are tripping over themselves and falling down. It's as though the author can't think of anything else to do to create certain situations and tension. There is one part when a blue goblin gets loose in their school and it's written like a scene from the three stooges with them running into each other and bouncing off walls and what not. These are people who are suppose to have powers and train to be fighters....yet they have no balance? It all just seems absurd.
Oooops! It seems that I read book 2 first. No wonder that I felt a little lost. Not that I didn't enjoy this book - I really did! I loved the imaginative way that mythology, science fiction , and fantasy were mixed. The characters were fun. There is a lot of action and I look forward to reading book 1 so that I understand the story a little better. I do hope that the other two books don't have sad endings.
Thank you for sending me this book! I won this book in a giveaway and it was a very good science fiction story. For some reason I thought it would be more fantasy based and its mostly science fiction. I also found it a bit confusing because I couldn't find the first book in the series. This was still an exciting read!
I received this book for free in a Good reads drawing. Of course i got book two, so I snagged book 1 first. I really enjoy this series. When I started, I thought it was very similar to a previous series I had read before (that I can't remember the name of) but I'm glad to say it moved away from the similarities. I just started book 3.
I highly recommend Sonora and the Scroll of Alexandria. It is a well-written book that will kept my interest from the beginning to the end. My students love it, which is the highest recommendation I can offer. Thanks to Goodreads First Reads for a copy of the book.
I won a copy of this book on Goodreads. This was a really cool book with a combination of history, science fiction and fantasy. This book was fast paced and I really enjoyed the characters. I look forward to more by this author and in THIS series.
This was a wonderful sequal to Sonora and The Titans. I enjoyed the character development in this book and I am looking forward to following the characters in the next books.
Another great, exciting adventure provided to us by the talented author, Travis Hall!
I read the first book and absolutely loved it, so I was super excited to receive this one, once again sent and signed by the author, Travis Hall (thank you!). The first book had a lot of grammar/typo mistakes, so I was happy to see that this book had less of those problems this time around.
Once again the cover art was really awesome, just like it was with the previous book. There are always lots of little details like described from in the book that makes it fun and perfect. I always catch myself looking at the front and back covers multiple times while reading.
Now getting into the book, starting with chapter one- I was really happy that the book started almost right where the first one ended. There wasn't much of a time gap, so if you haven't read the first book, you may really want to, although you could possibly get away with not reading the first but I wouldn't. The first chapter quickly went from fun-filled/relaxed to extremely intense, which was nice because it still showed how dangerous the situation in the previous book had left the characters.
The author excels at smooth transitions into each new chapter/phase of the story, which seems like a pretty rare talent anymore. You will also (mentally) explore a large amount of landscapes and climates during the books, which is really fun. Whether its skiing, hiking, swimming (or drowning- your choice), or rummaging through the desert in ancient ruins, its a fun filled adventure. Maybe we will get to experience going in the jungle next!
I love how it is still comical and serious at the appropriate times, for the most part. Near the end it was starting to have comical comments too often and it was actually getting annoying, seeing how they could like, die, at any moment...
I still haven't quite understood why Allora leaves Milly hanging in the dark on any important information... It seems that if she was more open and honest about her findings/discoveries/feelings, then Milly wouldn't go so bonkers and also, a lot of stuff that happened wouldn't have probably happened the way it all did.
I like how each character has certain struggles during training. They don't instantly excel at things on their first try. Although, I think Katie just got pathetically weak and not as alert as she use to be... She seems super fragile now and can't hold her own weight.
I couldn't stand Jenny in the first book but, oh my goodness that poor girl! She goes through soooo much! I was happy to see side characters from the first book still being mentioned/involved and playing important roles. I hope Jenny becomes more part of the main group now.
I was really sad to see that around the middle to near the end of the book that Bell was practically non-existent... She really needs to be part of the main group already. It was weird at the end how Allora talked to Bell as though she was a child, but at the beginning of the book you find out that Bell is actually going to the same school as Allora now.
Overall the book was awesome and the third one will need to come out ASAP because where it ended is driving me nuts and left me full of questions (in a good way). 5 stars!!!
Holy hell. I am at a loss of words. Well. This book blew book one away. The book is phenomenally well-written and one of the most interesting reads I have read in a while. I cannot wait to read more. Now this is not a romance. It’s a sifi mystery.
This book is about Allura, a young woman that is the Queen of Snora she just does not know it. And her band of friends. They all have powers. And they are just coming into them. Aullora got hers in book one. And the rest are coming along. When she falls though the chicken coop floor and finds her uncle’s secret workshop. That is went the quest starts seems she needs to find the scroll of Alexandria. And before Hades dose. Yup the bad guy is Hades. As they trek all over the world in search of it. and how they use their gifts to do.so. I love how she liked tanner in book one but he has finally interested in her in this book. And oh man that kiss sure lit things up. This book ended on one hell of a cliffhanger. And I so need book three now.
Sonora and the Scroll of Alexandria (Sonora, #2) by T.S. Hall is the first book that I have read in the series and by T. S. Hall. It exciting and fast paced. It is a great mix of history, and mythology in a science fiction / fantasy. A very enjoyable read that was a fast read.
Who doesn't enjoy sci-fi fantasy? Tanner, Dax, and Katie search for answers to unlocking an Orb's secrets. The answer could be found in an ancient scroll lost during the Titan Wars. Mythology and the historical aspect make this a fast-paced tale. I enjoyed the character's interactions with each other and their interesting abilities.
I just couldn't get into this book. I tried, I really did. Perhaps I need to read the first one. Anyway, it wasn't for me, but someone else may enjoy it more.
