Rate this book
This is a story about a horse and a boy, but not just any a wild mustang stallion and not just any boy, but a native American proud member of the Arapahoe nation on the Wind River reservation in Wild Wyoming. When these two wild hearts are knit together through unique circumstances and challenges, they become a championship team. Chastised by his peers and often excluded because of his disability, Trey Standingelk is more comfortable enjoying the solitude of long rides in the mountain with just his horse, his dog and his lifelong friend and often companion, Skye. The two companions find themselves as the captors and eventual trainers of a beautiful mustang stallion, but Trey's challenges lend an obstacle that must be faced. After learning about the opportunities in the realm of horse training and especially the competitive arena of Free-Style Reining, Trey and Star's world is rapidly expanded. The connection that develops between the horse, Star Dancer, and Trey goes far beyond man and beast, and becomes a heart to heart lifelong bond.

Wow! And wow again!

This may have been written as a book for younger people but this over 65 year old woman loved it, maybe even more than anything I've ever read! The amount of knowledge that went into writing about reining was impressive and the final free style was astounding! I have done reining and as a young kid tried to impress my uncle by showing off bareback, often with the same ground slamming results! Awesome story!

Teenage Arapahoe Trey Standingelk captures a wild mustang stallion. Trains him and enters the state championship rodeo competitions. Really not my kind of book but good for horse lovers.

A Good One

Classed as "young adult" but enjoyable to me, an octogenarian. I always enjoy a book from which I learn something and did so from this story. Well done, Mr. Rendell!

Star Dancer

Wow, what a great book. I really enjoyed this book, it grabs you, makes you want to keep reading to see what happens next. This would be a great book for young people. It lets you see even with a disability you can do any thing you want if you want it bad enough.

Amazing

Young adult or old adult this is a beautiful read.
I especially like seeing a pastor who is all a pastor should be, young people growing, elders assisting, customs and beliefs honored. Read it with an open heart.
