"5 MILLION STARS!!!!! My new all-time favorite series. Heart-stopping. Jaw-dropping. You need to read these books." -- Megan, i fall in love book blog ★★★★★
Eighteen-year-old Seven and her best friend, Ten, live in a world where all is peaceful ... except for the violent war raging above the sky. But there are strict rules and breaking them can result in severe consequences.
Seven and Ten have been secretly disobeying the rules for years. They sneak into places where people are forbidden to go. And sometimes, when they're alone together, they allow their bodies to touch, even though touching each other is strictly prohibited.
Every year, on Assignment Day, each eighteen-year-old officially becomes an adult, and the path of their life is laid out by the Decision Makers. Some are given the jobs for which they have shown exceptional aptitude and are "paired" for mating. The others are sent off to fight in The War and never return.
When Assignment Day comes for Seven, the assignments shatter everything she has ever believed. For the first time in her life, she is certain that the Decision Makers have made a terrible mistake.
But the only way to right this wrong is to do something absolutely unthinkable.
If you like unique dystopian novels with page-turning suspense, unpredictable adventure, childhood-best-friends-to-lovers forbidden romance, and jaw-dropping twists and turns, you'll love this must-read dystopian trilogy!

I read A LOT, and I've learned how to pick books that I will almost certainly enjoy, but I was completely blown away by how much I loved this trilogy. If I could recommend one trilogy to anyone, this would be it. I read each of the first two books within 24 hours and then kept putting off reading the final book just because I didn't want the story to end. Its the type of series where each time you finish a book you just want to grab the next one and dive in. If you love YA Dystopian Romances then YOU WILL love this.
I received an advance reader copy of each book within the trilogy that I have chosen to review.
This.Is Top Notch!!! I never say must read, and I was Hooked in a Moment- Stayed till the End Wished it didn't stop, loved each part. Never saw certain things coming, loved the way she only gave context to past things with little detail so not to bother the reader who has read the entire story. Loved the ease between who was speaking, it was clean and clear and I wanted to skip ahead so many times just to stay with one of them, but didn't need to. Ryan was an awesome character, the ladies were each so strong, love how murphys twin changed over time and the way the mom of the twins was once the two came of age.
I couldn't belive how good this series was. I got my love of reading by these books and it had me wanting to read more on my own time. If you loved the Hunger Games like I did you would love this story almost even more.
Loved it!! I'm a huge fan of dystopian type stories, so that aspect of this book was super great, and even though dystopian is a popular story to write at this time, I still felt that this book was unique enough that I didn't feel like I have read it before. Seven is our lead for the story, and the entire book is from her point of view, she's just turning 18, and it's time for her to be assigned a job and a mate, well as long as she's not chosen to be a warrior. The warriors are sent to the surface where there is a war that is suppose to be going on; all the residents of Seven's home are rather kept in the dark about anything that is really going on, and the residents don't question anything. The place Seven is from is sheltered, and the rules are strict; people aren't even allowed to touch until they are mated and only in private. I loved that there are robots around town, and I love that the story felt futuristic, but still heartfelt. Seven has a close friendship with a friend from her childhood, his name is Ten, and I absolutely loved their relationship, its strong and they both really get each other. I couldn't put the book down! I just wanted to keep reading until I finished it, and I lost out on plenty of sleep because of this book, but it was surely worth it. I loved the training scenes, and all the scenes between Ten and Seven. I'm not super crazy about what happens towards the end, and I'm not thrilled that I have to wait to find out what happens until the next book, but I highly recommend this book. Truly excellent read!!
My review for the second book: Return to the Sky:
Return to the Sky is the sequel for Above the Sky, and I loved both books! This book picks right up where the first book ended, so I definitely recommend reading the first book before this one. *There will be spoilers for the first book in this review*
In the first book, Seven took Six's place as a warrior, so Seven had to leave home and fight to protect her home community and Six stayed at home and was assigned a mate, and since they are twins, they assumed each other's identities without most people knowing the difference. So, Seven returns to her home place, where it is safe, but there are very strict rules and the citizens are naïve to a lot of what is actually happening in the world. Seven needs to switch places because she is pregnant with Ten's baby, and that is against the rules as a warrior, plus it is dangerous, so Seven is going to be there for 9 months, and then leave her baby with her sister, and return to Ten and the warrior lifestyle. In this book, we get 3 POV's, Seven, Six, and Ten. I liked that we get all the POV's, since all the characters have their own storylines going on. Seven is dealing with being pregnant, catching up with what her sister, Six, had going on, and she also has an assigned mate she needs to deal with. I felt really bad for Nine, her assigned mate, and I hope Thirteen comes into play more. Six hasn't been trained as a warrior, so she has to find her strength, and when things don't go as planned, she needs to find a way to survive. Ryan was along for Six's storyline, and I wasn't happy about what happened to Ryan, and how blasé everyone feels about mating. Ten is trying to find a way to help Six, and he also is worried for Seven and their baby. I was hoping that our main characters would question the government more, and that would start becoming a storyline, but none of the really happened, so I'm hoping Jenny Lynne goes more into that in future books. I want the characters to get some spunk! They grew up in a way that was very sheltered and it seems like it is almost wrong for them to show much emotion, so I understand that they aren't programmed to question things, but I would think there would be someone that does. I don't like the whole government choosing mates for people and assigning people to departments without taking into consideration the people's desires, and I wanted for the characters to rebel; they all just seem to accept too much, too easily, but I still really love the characters, and there's a lot of growth for the characters to still go through, so I am definitely looking forward to see where Jenny Lynne decides to go in this series. I love the sci-fi aspect, and I like the suspense and action scenes. The romance between Seven and Ten is really sweet, and I definitely want more of them together! I'm hoping in the next book, the characters start to question the governments actions more, happiness for the side characters, and more of Ten and Seven together! There needs to be an UPRISING!
This is a series comprised of four books. I liked the first book but absolutely loved the other three books. The first book is primarily told from Seven's pov but the other three books were told from the other characters individual perspectives. The characters are well developed and the relationships are believable. The story is very exciting and engaging. Well worth your time for 900 pages!
I read the entire series waiting for the big boom that never came. The story was engaging but the characters are very flat without any depth whatsoever. The storyline is very interesting but flawed with many logical errors for example where did the soldiers for the warrior program come from? How did Jackie sneak in? Parts of the story seemed to be added like afterthoughts as if while writing the author decided oh let’s have this person change this way or that, without thought of previous actions. Like I said I read the entire series, it did keep me entertained but if you are waiting for a big boom at the end don’t.
Wow! This series is a must read! It kept me on the edge of my seat and I didn't want to put it down!! These books completely sucked me in. The characters were so well written, I felt like I was part of the book. I was on a roller-coaster of emotions with this and I loved every minute of it! This is definitely a must read series!!
I have been looking for a series to read that would grab me and this was it! Could not put the books down, read the entire series in about a week. The characters are great and their world unfolded amazingly. LOVED IT!
Kept my attention. Short and jam packed chapters. Good characters, storylines, and development of the characters and scenes. I will check out more by this author for sure!
Author has a very creative and imaginative mind. The characters in her books, especially the sky series are so vivid. I finished all four books and wish there were more.
Words cannot begin to Express how incredible this series was. 5 stars are simply not high enough. I devoured it in 5 short days. The adventure she takes you on is incredible. All these characters have become like family in such a short time. I was pleased with how the book wrapped up but it made me longing for more
When I started reading I thought oh this is just going to be a copy of the Hunger Games. I was so wrong! I was glued to every page with every twist and turn. If you enjoyed HG give this one a go! You won’t be sorry.
I couldn’t put this book down! Filled with action and romance, the last 2 books expand to different characters POV, and thank goodness the end is good and doesn’t leave you wondering or depressed LoL
If you want to read an awesome futuristic series that will keep you so very interested look no further. With as fast as our times are moving it makes one wonder just how futuristic these books are any more. I really suggest you pick this up and plan on spending some time in the future! They are great!!
Not at all what I expected, but in a really good way.
I really enjoyed this book. The characters were great, and the whole world drawn up was fabulous. It could be a little confusing if you didn't pay attention to who was the main character at the time. The story was so good though, it was absolutely worth it.
I really enjoyed the idea of this novel, but reading it became tiresome.
I enjoyed the world, concept and characters. I think I would’ve had an easier time reading it if the book would have been broken up into chapters (the author switches perspectives which is a way to break up the book into chapters but it felt ongoing. I read the kindle edition) I also had issues distinguishing between which character’s chapter I was reading because none had a clear voice although they varied in age, gender, and experience. The ending is a let down. There isn’t much resolution.
Overall it was a decent read. I probably won’t read it again.
I almost quit after the first chapter I actually thought I removed it. When I went back on to read it was still up. I wasn't happy but not being the mood to find another book I kept reading. What a unique view of the end. And it's one that actually makes sense. Can't wait to read the entire series.
Really great read. Kept me engaged and I didn’t want to put it down. Has lots of unknowns and unexpected twists and turns that you don’t see coming. Looking forward to the next series
