A good story about the Civil War soldiers that died at Gettysburg. Some of the dead soldiers did not pass over to heaven and are stuck on earth. This was an excellent written story with a good plot. The only thing I did not like was too much explicit sex with the two main characters. Leave all the sex out and you would have a wonderful book.
The characters were well defined even the ghost had personalities. I loved the ghost Fillis , she was always happy and encouraged all the guys. Some authors have two books written ( one without sex and one with sex). It was a good story, thanks to the author for the warning of explicit sex in the book.
3.75 rounded to 4 stars. You have to have an imagination for this one as the premise is a support group for Ghosts dealing with PTSD and trauma to help them deal with their problems so they can cross over. Sean, the hero of our story, turns out to be a real soldier sent to Theresa, our heroine, by Joel, who crossed over in the first book. There are a few contrived assumptions made by Theresa that I guess were intended to produce drama. They fell flat with me & I found myself wanting to smack her for not giving Sean a chance to speak.
It really is a good story. A good continuation of Jesse and Lucy’s adjustments. It covered a lot of other things that are real in life and ways to cope. Proof that things really don’t change that much as time goes on. However, I would have liked a less detailed sex life of our main characters. I feel it can be implied and touched lightly and still provide the essence of the story.
Great combination of romance, drama, history, and ghostly goings on. Loved this second book in the series. Can't wait to get started on the 3rd. I've always been a fan of any ghostly stories of Gettysburg whether it be true or fiction. Someday I hope to get there. Anyway, great series!!!!
I didn't think it would be possible but I enjoyed this even more than the first. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed Jesse and Lucy's love story but the whole turning from ghost to human thing kind of left me unsure. I appreciated the realism here and was rooting for Sean right away. I absolutely teared up at some of their meetings and Adam's reunion.

There are ghosts in Gettysburg. They died at Gettysburg. They need to find peace so they can cross over. A student in Psychology is going to help them solve their problems. An Afghanistan veteran is in need of help too. Awesome read. Some very tender heart moments. Love this book.
I loved the continuation of Jesse and Lucy's story and I loved the story of Sean and Theresa. What I really liked was the soldiers going to the light and finding peace at last. Looking forward to the next book in the series
So this is part of one of my absolute favorites series. I am talking I have to reread the entire series at the very least once a year. Personally this is my favorite book in this series particularly loving this couple from the series.
I loved this series, being a I love going to Gettysburg every chance I get , for i live 40 minutes from there and wheni am at my daughters 15 minutes reading these books just makes it better...... thank you
I like book series. I enjoyed this sequel and how it continued the same characters stories. As someone who lives within an hour of Gettysburg I was familiar with many locations in the book. This added to my enjoyment of this book
I was so excited to read the second book in the series. I was so attached to the characters. Getting to visit their lives again and see how they have progressed was awesome. Watching Theresa counsel the ghosts and help them crossover was amazing. I was a little concerned about her feelings toward LGBTQ at first but it was addressed well and we saw her grow and learn. I was happy to see her revelations especially with Fillis and the young soldier ghost missing his love. Trigger warning for attempted attack on a woman but her ptsd after was also addressed.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book! The characters were very well developed and memorable from the first book, Somebody's Darling, that it didn't take any time for me to acclimated to this one, despite the fact that I read the first book a while ago. I loved reading more on the development of Lucy and Jesse's relationship. It wasn't just snippets but a detailed storyline of how they're doing after the first book ended which I feel most series don't provide. The author did an awesome job of intertwining their story with Theresa and Sean's, the second couple's. It did not steal any of the second couple's limelight. Some suspense throughout the book with some "controversial" topics covered but answered thoroughly. Very well written. Can't wait till the next one!!
I liked the book. I can't tell you why, but it was a good fluff read. However, it lost a star because of some of the writing style. I'm sorry, but if two characters are alone together getting some nookie time, I can understand who is speaking without saying their name after every single quote. Good Grief Charlie Brown, I know that Theresa is speaking to Sean... they're alone and nekkid together. We don't need to have it clarified that Theresa is the one to lustily cry out "Sean, oh Sean" ... other than that it was cute. ... And now I have to go clean off the rest of my mascara from my face... cause I have a feeling I am channelling Alice Cooper at the moment... stupid tear jerkers!!!
Darling Soldiers is the second installment in Linda Fausnet’s Gettysburg Ghosts series and I am here for it. This book picks up right where the first book ended.
I enjoyed this second book but the first remains my favorite. I recommend these if you enjoy paranormal romance and Civil War history.
