Meet The Beckett Boys. Three Brothers. Each One Dirtier, Rougher, and Sexier Than The Next…
A standalone romance with a guaranteed HEA
SMITH
I want her.
Plain and simple truth. I want her. I want to push inside her. I want to grip her hair and tug her scalp and lick her bared throat. I want to tie her wrists and ankles to my bed, make her helpless, weak, begging for me.
I want to leave my marks on her, bruise that delicate flesh, have her sore and aching after I ravage her.
But my cravings are most definitely too dark for her.
I’m not the white-picket-fence kind of guy, and I can’t let myself start thinking otherwise.
My life is my brothers, the bar my father left us, and proving to everyone in this craphole town that we’re not the trash they think we are.
But Aubrey is off limits.
I should stick to the kind of girls I’m used to, the kind who are fine with one night.
Aubrey deserves love, real love, the kind of love I’m incapable of.
The problem is she’s all I want.
I know I can only destroy her.
But I can’t stay away.
AUBREY
I try to pretend that I’m not aware of the tattoos covering him. That I’m not aware of the muscles of his arms and legs. I try to pretend my core doesn’t tighten in response to his raw sexuality, pretend I don’t want him to push me up against the wall and have his way with me.
I’m so attracted to him I can barely focus.
He thinks I’m just some scared little girl, and maybe he’s right.
Am I really so naïve as to think that maybe what Smith and I are doing is different? Or is this just me being blind?
Sometimes I can see every emotion on his face. Other times, I can’t tell a damn thing he’s thinking.
I’m plagued by doubts, yet also trying to convince myself that I know what I know. I’m not just a booty call to Smith. There’s more between us than that. What that “more” is, I don’t know. But it’s there. Either that, or he’s the world’s greatest actor. Because the emotion in our last kiss was so strong it almost blew me over.
If I’m wrong about him, it will shatter my heart, break me into a million pieces.
The only thing worse would be walking away…
Aubrey’s standing there, lips swollen, breath panting, eyes heavily lidded. She’s so innocent but so primed for me. I could probably take her upstairs to my apartment, spread her wide and plunge deep inside her. But I can’t do that. Because she deserves better than to be one of my random booty calls. I can’t ruin her.
NOTE: This edition of Smith (The Beckett Boys, Book One) includes a bonus romance novel, Obscene by Kelly Favor.
I want her. Plain and simple truth. I want her. I want to push inside her. I want to grip her hair and tug her scalp and lick her bared throat. I want to tie her wrists and ankles to my bed, make her helpless, weak, wet for me. I want to leave my marks on her, bruise that delicate flesh, have her sore and aching after I ravage her.
This was my first ever read by this author and let me tell you it was S.E.X.Y. Her writing was flawless and kept me engaged. I liked the little drama thrown in. It was definitely worth it if you’re looking for a easy read for a sexy and a good time.
I try to pretend I’m not aware of the sweat dribbling down his chest and neck and back. That I’m not aware of the tattoos covering him. That I’m not aware of the muscles of his arms and legs. I try to pretend my core isn’t tightening in response to his raw sexuality, pretend I don’t want him to drop those bags, push me to the sidewalk, and thrust his hard cock inside me. God help me, I’m so attracted to him I can barely focus.
Aubrey moves to a small town in order to get away from her abusive ex and on the first night she ends up at Outlaw which is the towns bar known for its rough crowd and reputation. What she doesn’t expect is to find the owner of the said bar to be scorching hot and handsome but with a surly and rude attitude. What I liked was how she didn’t shy away from giving him a witty reply.
I guess she isn’t going to just slink away, despite me silently willing her to go away. I walk over to her. “So you’re back,” I say, and my voice isn’t any friendlier than last time. She lifts her chin. “I guess I’m a glutton for punishment. I haven’t had shitty customer service in a whole week, and I’m way overdue.” The smartass answer makes me chuckle unexpectedly.
Smith Beckett is known as a hothead actually all the Beckett brothers. They have a reputation because of the clientele of their bar despite being good at hearts. The second he sees Aubrey enter the bar and take a seat at the counter, he knows she doesn’t belong here with her innocent and soft personality. He even goes as far as telling her to go to other bar but is shocked when she does the exact opposite and even asks him to do a shot with her.
I drop a hand down to caress her clit and I feel the hard bud pulse under my fingertips. “You’re a wicked girl, aren’t you,” I breathe in her ear. “You like being fucked like this, dirty and spread open for me. Your nipples clamped and your wrists and ankles bound.” “Yes,” she gasps.
Their banter was funny and also filled with sensual tension. It always felt as if they wanted to rip the clothes off each and give in to their urges. There were so many sizzling intimate scenes, each one more hotter and dirtier than the last. Smith was a smooth dirty talker, filthy and oh so dominant in the bedroom.
Smith isn’t perfect—he’s surly and abrasive at times, hard to read, and his temper is quite strong. But he’s also got this vulnerability underneath all of that.
Both had a rough past and were broken in their own way. Smith had lots of responsibilities on his shoulder ever since his father died and he had to take care of his younger siblings making him jaded towards others so I liked how Aubrey made him soft around the edges and supported him in saving his bar.
Smith closes his eyes, seems to struggle to breathe. He presses a tender kiss to my forehead, and for some reason, that simple, unexpected gesture gives me a lump in my throat. This felt like more than just fucking. This felt dangerous. Exciting. Addictive.
Aubrey learned to lean on smith when her ex showed up stalking and threatening her. She loved his dominance knowing he would never take advantage of her trust. He brought out the good and naughty side of her which made for a very steamy chemistry.
Overall it was an amazing read and fast paced. The plot was pretty predictable and kind of repetitive but enjoyable none the less. Also the book felt really short and I wanted a lot more, the romance could have been grown a lot more as it seemed they fell for each other pretty fast.. Still am going to continue with the series.
If you guys love a good steamy and small town romance read, then this is the one. ♥️
This book peaked around the first 1/3 for me. I had a feeling that this was one of those kindle unlimited books that I'd better not get attached to because it would actually end at 50%. The novella (and this must be a novella because it is very short, barely a beginning, middle, and end) is hot and sweet. Our characters are fairly well developed. I didn't find Aubrey to be as spunky as the writer tried to make her, but she was relatable and vulnerable. Smith's cliched BDSM interests (Do authors realize they are using the exact same wording as other authors with this? Is there a class with 'trigger' words or something?) were okay. I guess they added a little extra spice here and there but honestly his down-to-earth personality was the highlight of his character. Don't look for anything special in the plot here. Pretty much average running from the abusive ex story but a well done one.
I liked this book. Smith is the eldest Beckett brother and together they own / run their Dad's bar. Aubrey is a Nurse who is escaping her nasty ex. When these two get together, sparks fly. It's a little bit instalove but it works.
Smith is a tough guy but he has an endearing vulnerability about him too. Aubrey sees that in him and together they make a strong couple.
The book finishes at 50% but you're made aware of this at time of purchase and there is a second book by another author.
It's sexy, quick paced & enjoyable. And I definitely want to know more about the Beckett Brothers......
So be forewarned this story ends at 50%, there is a second book by another author included with this one. I did not read the second book.
So I found that I really liked the H Smith. Audrey was ok... The story had potential but just fell flat. The first couple of chapters were very repetitive, she's to good for me I have to stay away.... Or I must have done something wrong to make him not like me...over and over.
As the story goes on it just seemed rushed and in need of an editor. The drama with the ex was so anticlimactic it was disappointing. The drama around the bar doesn't really get addressed or resolved.
Ending is a HFN-ish ending. Again very rushed. Got this though kindle unlimited, wouldn't buy it. Not sure if I am interested in reading the other brothers stories. I read the blurb for Jax and it sounds just like this one, which doesn't interest me. The one good thing is I did like the H.
My Review: Well, this was a very short read, and you need to know going into it, that it's more erotic romance than anything. There wouldn't be much book there without the sex, which is really rather sad. Although I didn't mind the sex (it was rather hot), the seeds were there for more. There is a lot of depth to the story which really could have made it an amazing read.
But as it stands, it's a good read as an erotic romance...although to be fair, there were hints at BDSM that could have stepped up that aspect of it just a touch more, too.
The story is not anything new, although I did enjoy it. Aubrey is on the run from an abusive ex and she finds refuge with the local bartender...seriously, this story has been done a lot lately. I did really enjoy Smith's relationship with his brothers and how they were so antagonistic toward one another. They are all under a lot of stress. Although that story wasn't fully fleshed out the hints were there...maybe in the coming stories.
Like I said there were lots of good possibilities with this story that didn't quite pan out. But the book is incredibly steamy and sexy. it's a great one to read with your loved one nearby. ;)
This was a short sweet sexy read. Sexy and short literally. The book description doesn't tell you that it ends 50% of the read and there is a "bonus" book. I don't like that and you just feel cheated somehow.
I liked the characters and Smith was freaking HOT!
The story was paced well, but then it wrapped up and was done with too many unanswered questions
Its not perfect. Its erotica I don't expect it to be award winning writing. Probably makes me judge it differently to a non-erotica novel.
I liked this a lot, its funny and the sex is great. Its interesting the whole BDSM. I like it in writing but I am not a practice BDSM(er). I do think we read the same bits of BDSM everytime and I was concerned when I started this was going to be a 50 shades of grey moment in writing, but its fine.
Aubrey is great. She isn't as feisty as I think the author wanted us to believe, I don't think if I ever faced an abuser who had abused me I would have let my partner face him alone. I probably would be right there with him, but I've never been abused by a boyfriend so I can't say for sure.
I like Smith, he changed a little quick for m, I would have liked a slower progression maybe another 100 pages or so for both of them to fall in love not a wham bang thank you ma'am scenario as we saw. I do however like he isn't perfect but perfect for her, and hes a strong male that wants to protect his partner and allows himself to fall in love without the whole 'ahh I love her but I'm scared' crap that is in a lot of these romances.
I'm interested to read the next book, this has me hooked!
I thought this was a really sweet story. Kind of predictable, but one of the reason I took the chance on it was in hopes of predictable. The only reason I didn't give it a five, was a few times I would reread a sentence two or three times to realize I didn't write it wrong (it just wasn't edited and corrected completely). And while I appreciate bonus (free) stories, I wish Kindle would state where that will happen (in this case at 53% location 1903 of 3695). While I am wishing...I also wish all Kindle books where in page format not location, as Smith is in location format. I did however really enjoy Smith and Aubrey and plan to continue the series.
Book 1 of the series and I got what was probabaly promised - sexy, dominant alpha and lots of hot sex? The story was ok too, even if a little predictable.
I like Smith and Aubrey. They were both comfortable and trustworthy enough to experiment openly in the bedroom, trying different things which were refered to as BDSM but were anything but? I would say more along the lines of a little kinky experimentation?
Aubrey was running from a past but Smith wasn't going to let that scare her from a future they both never knew could be so good.
This book was super quick and super sexy.... a light quicky inbetween more intense reads.
I loved the chemistry between Smith & Aubrey and their sex scenes were seriously raw and primal; they will strip you to the core, leave your heart pounding and wanting more. Smith never expected to find someone who would accept him for who he was and not be turned off by his kinks. So when Aubrey didn't back down things just got hotter. I enjoyed the way their relationship evolved and how they were able to let go of their pasts and fall in love. Once I started reading this book I couldn't put it down. No cliffhanger and a HEA....a must read for sure! I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review and originally posted it on another website on July 9, 2016.
This is the start of a series on 3 "bad boy" brothers. This story is of the oldest, Smith Beckett, grumpy but hot owner of a rundown bar. When new-to-town good girl Aubrey moves to town (to escape an abusive relationship- off page, mostly just controlling rather than physical), she feels a bit unwelcome but determined after she tries the local bar (owned by above grumpy & hot). They eventually connect in some pretty hot ways. Impressive dirty talk, little bit of bondage... Sweet but sexy ending without a cliffhanger, though some larger plot lines were hinted at for later books.
I received this book as a bonus content when I bought Mason (Billionaire Bastards, book one) The characters kept me alert. I stayed up all night to read it. Sure there were no break up to make up but sometimes all we need is that fast pace hook up story that leads to true love. There is a lot of cursing but I enjoyed it. The sex was steamy with a little a hint of BDSM. Aubrey and Smith took me on a ride that left me so damn horny for my own dirty perverted bar owner. I can't wait to see what fuckable Jax does to me...on to book two.
Kindle unlimited standalone book in a series. 4.5 - 5 star book but there are a lot of mistakes so I gave it a 4. She's running from an abusive ex. He's a hot bad boy bar owner. He tries to push her away because she's too good for him. He can't seem to stay away. She wants him but when her past catches up with her, can he save her? Hot little HEA
I chose this rating because this was a great book. The characters were very masculine. I didn't like Aubrey's boyfriend he was a douche bag the one that she left, and moved out of state to get away from. I'm glad she met Smith Beckett. I believe they need each other their past had tormented them enough. I recommend this book to all romance readers.
A great beginning to this exciting series. This had a good storyline (even if a little predictable), complex characters, humor, angst, steamy intimate scenes, and some surprise twists to keep it interesting. I'm intrigued by the brothers, and can't wait to start the next book.
I enjoyed the story line but I needed a little more to the story. The small conflict was resolved quickly. Jax and Aubrey's love story didn't have much build up either. It was good but it won't go in my re-read pile.
I liked this book, but nothing was flushed out enough for me. I need more info on the who, what, and why. The characters were too flat to really enjoy. The story was there.... But not quite enough.
História curta mas bastante aditiva. Macho Alfa Penso que a história pessoal das personagens deveria estar melhor desenvolvida. Bastante spicy 🤭🌶️🌶️🌶️ BDSM
I rarely give below three stars, but I was very disappointed. First of all, just as it's getting interesting it's abruptly over. Seriously? Just as she calls her parents, who loved the ex, it ends. How do they take it? Had I known that Smith was only 50% of the book I would've never purchased it. This is nothing more than an installment series. I hate those! I think it's a ripoff to pay for 110 pages that cliffhanged or leaves you wondering what's next, so the author can gouge you 3$ for another 100 pages. No thanks.
