In Flint House, author Nancetta Liles offers a beautifully wrought and spellbinding testimony to the cruelty of slavery. Told with a good measure of redemption, a caretaker is unable to distinguish between fact and fiction, and the living and the dead. A modern world of voodoo and ghostly encounters opens up to her in this eerie tale set at an estate with an evil past in rural North Carolina.
Raised in Western North Carolina, this author loves the rich history of the mountains. She also loves ghosts and all other things that give one pause when a chill runs up the spine.
Nancetta Liles creates characters who move into your home and keep you entertained as you turn the pages of her book. You might just find that after you turn the last page, some of the livelier dead still reside with you...
One of THE BEST books i have EVER read! It was a page turner, enthralling, disturbing, and the characters endearing. I wish the author would write another book. A bonus for me was, while I was reading it, i was living in WEstern NC where this story took place.
For me Flint House was a virtual page turner. Although fiction, it sure seemed real. Nancie turned all of her research into a heart warming, yet exciting, book.
What I liked about this book - great story and setting.
What I didn't like about this book - the writing - too flat & narrative in style; awkward dialogue. Plus, there were too many grammatical errors and misspellings.
