J.B.Forsyth lives with his wife and three children in Scarborough, North Yorkshire.
He is the author of the ABSENCE fantasy novels and their spin-off series TALES OF THE WESTLAND. Other works include TWISTED, a short story series set in and around Scarborough.
I liked this book well enough. I think there were issues with the flow of the story because the author would spend lots of time on a particular character and then would abandon that part of the story line for a long period of time before it was picked up again. There was quite a bit explained in this book about where Della came from. Even though we got a sort of backstory for many of the characters, I didn't like the way the author did it. I found it took you too much out of the rest of the story. There was a twist toward the end which I did like. The editing in this book was a bit better.
This series took me to places I never would have imagined. I met an incredibly gifted girl, a tormented young man and a stubborn man, bound by law of his profession and tradition. I encountered strange and exotic creatures, plants and animals that possessed abilities that cause no small amount of trouble for the determined characters in the story. I truly enjoyed this series, and highly recommend it for your reading pleasure.
Why I like to read fantasy is best represented in these two novels. It takes great skill to bring the reader into the author's world and make the story part of their own life. J.B. Forsyth has that skill.
Well drawn characters with backgrounds and pasts. Had no bother picturing the places and people .loved every minute and couldn't stop reading . Now I'm lost without it. Thankfully still got some more books by this author.
This second book was even better than the first. I was hooked from volume 1 Whispers and Shadow and this one didn't disappoint. The characters are thrown into the worst kind of dangers. It was packed full of original monsters, unlike anything else I have read. J. B. Forsyth has a unbelievable imagination, nothing was predictable. Hope he writes another one of these Absence books. I keep looking out for more of his stuff. I love the art work on the covers too.
