A very short sparse acerbic story told in tiny vignettes about a writer who takes a trip to Mexico to think about her marriage and how she wants to leave it. It's poetic and funny, especially the very first paragraph:
"At a pivotal point in the movie, Blue Valentine, the actress Michelle Williams beats her chest to empathize that there is nothing left inside it for her husband. This is not what happened in my life, with my husband, when I told him that I had fallen out of love. I didn't pound my chest. I said he didn't "stir" me. I compared him to a chair."
That paragraph won me over. The rest of it has a couple worthy lines but mostly I think it's trying too hard to be artsy. But it was the perfect read when I locked myself in the bathroom to get away from the chaos of an almost 4 year old.
