Humanity may have colonized much of the galaxy, but space remains as dangerous as ever, and so do the people inhabiting it. When Alexis Solovy--space explorer, freelance scout, recalcitrant wanderer--lands the contract of a lifetime, the race is on to claim the prize. Now she must not only outrun but outsmart her rivals to uncover the secrets of an ancient, mysterious pulsar. For deep in the void, far beyond the reach of civilization, wealth and renown matter little absent the ultimate reward: survival.
Set five years before STARSHINE: Aurora Rising Book One (Aurora Rhapsody #1), VENATORIS takes a younger, wilder, rough-around-the-edges Alexis Solovy and Kennedy Rossi on an unforgettable adventure across the stars. * VENATORIS was initially published in Beyond the Stars: A Planet Too Far: amzn.com/B01DMZUIEM.
G. S. Jennsen is a speculative and science fiction author, as well as a futurist, geek, gamer, programmer and editor. She has become an internationally bestselling author since her first novel, Starshine, was published in March 2014. She has chosen to continue writing under an independent publishing model to ensure the integrity of her series and her ability to execute on the vision she’s had for it since its genesis.
While she has been a lawyer, a software engineer and an editor, she’s found the life of a full-time author preferable by several orders of magnitude.
When she isn’t writing, she’s gaming or working out or getting lost in the mountains that loom large outside the windows in her home. Or she’s dealing with a flooded basement, or standing in a line at Walmart reading the tabloid headlines and wondering who all of those people are. Or sitting on her back porch with a glass of wine, looking up at the stars, trying to figure out what could be up there.
This was another fun glimpse into the Aurora Rhapsody universe, taking us on a wild ride with Alex and Kennedy. It's a quick, entertaining ride, recommended for any fans of this series!
Veantoris, Aurora Rhapsody #.8 by G.S. Jennesen is a fantastic science fiction thriller with a tiny twist of romance. Great characters, cool science and an amazing heroine make this story work.
I love everything about this series and can't wait to read.
I truly enjoyed this short story. This is the first story by an Indie author that I've read in a long while that I could happily award 5 stars to. Characters, dialogue, pacing and plot were pretty good.
I'm looking forward to reading a lot more from this author.
Alexis (Alex) Solovy was here in this sleazy bar for only one thing, information. Information on which system to head to, to see if any elements might be valuable to any corporation. She spotted a well-known broker and learned from him that there was a pulsar with planets, which was rare. She was off the station and on her way to the location with her best friend, Kennedy (Ken), in tow. Alex knew the information would soon be posted, and she knew she had to be the first to claim any find for it to be hers. But, when she got there to the system of the pulsar, she was a bit disappointed as Joaquin Kyril was already there. Then she noticed that he was clueless, just floating there, but in a moment, he was behind her and ghosting her every move. She knew that he had not found anything of value yet, and knew his ship was faster. She had to distract him somehow, but how? Then Bob Patera jumped into the system, and she contacted him. Together they distracted Mr. Kyril, and Alex was able to stake her claim much to Mr. Kyril’s chagrin.
This short story is a prequel to the novel Starshine, which is a series starter. This story tells of how Alex got the funds to trick out her ship. There was not much world-building in this story, but there didn’t have to be. The character interaction was thoughtfully planned and executed very well.
Science Fiction, check! Action & Adventure, check! Do you like these genres? It is a short story, what are you waiting for? I give this little read five stars out of five stars.
Another will written fantasy Sci-Fi space opera adventure thriller short story by G. S. Jennsen about explorers searching for riches on cold planets in the galaxy and the risk they take. I would recommend this novella and author to readers of fantasy Sci-Fi adventure thriller novels 👍. Enjoy the adventure of reading 👓 or listening 🎶 to Alexa as I do because of eye issues and damage. 🏡🔰👒😢 2022
Alexis is a freelance scout aiming to stake her claim on a pulsar. She needs o get there fast and claim it before any of the other scouts manage to do so. Some scouts are friends but some are bad rivals. Good short book
This is another short story that happens before Starshine. We meet Alex and Kennedy and get to see their relationship and a bit of the work that Alex is about as an explorer of the universe. A good 30 minute read.
This was another quick little read that gives a little bit of extra background and insight into two of the main characters in the series. I like these short glimpses and tidbits of past adventures. Obviously with works of fiction the author's story is only limited by imagination. I love how these side novellas zero in on one or two specific things or people in one small moment of time. The reader really feels as though they are befriending the characters. This whole series feels like a giant network in my mind. Slowly the expanse of interconnected pathways are lighting up to form an amazing and creative world and series of events.
If you have been reading the Aurora Rhapsody epic saga, you'll already know that as an entrée it is better than the finest gourmet meal. When little Miss Jennsen's extraordinary imagination pops out these cool little stories as only she can, a marvelous literary dessert appears for your reading pleasure... It has become my drug of choice and I can't get enough of it.
