Slugger. Hot shot. MVP. I've been called it all. I was the real deal, baby. The diamond was my battlefield. Women were the victory celebration. My "Lucky" streak was a given. On and off the field.
Then I slept with the wrong woman, And she cursed me. Literally. Turned my game upside-down, In the ballpark...and bedroom. Now my team is paying the price.
My last hope is Cali Jones, A smart and sexy physician assistant. Her Midas touch may fix my swing, Repair my equipment. But will it be enough to cure my hard luck?

Really loved this! I loved Brady and his smart ass attitude and I loved Cali and her feisty attitude. There was basically no angst in this as well which was a nice treat.
Wow I want some Luck like that! Holy crap this book was freaking amazing! Brady and Cali's chemistry was off the charts! Such a great quick read that I wish was so much longer! I didn't want this to end that's for sure! This book had all the feels and even some laugh out loud moments! Brady had me swooning and cracking up at the same time! I cannot wait to read Tough Luck next!
Overall, this was a cute story, but there are some crazy parts. I think the author was going for humor. However, what was supposed to be humorous was really eye-rollingly ridiculous.
I did like both main characters, Cali more so than Brady, who was hard to like at the beginning of the book. Their situation was a bit forced though, and that made it somewhat cheesy in places.
I know books are fantasy. I just like reading those that are at least within the realm of believability. Some authors are talented at making readers swallow the unbelievable. This book fell a bit short, but not enough to quit reading it.
I overall enjoyed this book (even if I sometimes raised my eyebrows in incredulity) but found it lacked depth. But if you're looking for a fast paced story, with steamy scenes and "immature" characters this is a book for you.
I am not saying it is a bad thing, not at all, - one of my favourite books ever is about some of the most immature and foolish characters ever. I'd just say it more as a warning. Do not expect wise decisions, or long talks about life.
This just did not grab my attention. The heroine's inner monologue became annoying after 10%. I am not sure how many professional couches would encourage their players to let loose and party during a winning season. It also felt like a fantasy with the voodoo dolls. Just odd. Not for me.
Baseball fake fiancee trope. Cocky Brady and penis handler Cali have a fake engagement to break a voodoo curse placed by a one night stand Brady had. A good story! My first but not my last from Liv Morris.
Hard Luck is Liv Morris' rom-com debut and boy, does she deliver! This book is so cute and Ms. Morris has the right touch between fun and sweet. The premise of this book is hilarious - Cali is a physician's assistant for a urologist who specializes in men's health and Brady is a professional baseball player who has some, um, equipment issues and makes a visit to her office. What happens when these two "officially" meet had me laughing so hard that tears ran down my face! The dialogue and situations these two get into are hilarious and Brady is such a cocky guy, yet Ms. Morris manages to make this story adorable without going overboard with the jokes, which can sometimes happen in romance comedies. Also, Brady is the kind of guy who makes a big transition in the book, so even though he's such a cocky guy, I couldn't help but love him - and he is just so sweet to his mom. Brady got me, hook, line and sinker; I couldn't help but root for him. Also, the love scenes between these two...oh my, scorching hot. Ms. Morris knows how to write a love scene in a romance book and it was well worth waiting for!
The witty dialogue, fun shenanigans and tender emotion (Did I mention the love scenes too??) made this book perfect for me. It's such a fun and light read. It's the perfect book to get lost in and have lots of laughs along the way. Plus, the epilogue had me laughing so hard that I fell off my couch! It was perfect. Major kudos to Liv Morris for a delightful sports rom-com. I can't wait to see what she will write next!
An ARC was given to me in exchange for an honest review.
Right now I am sidelining this book. Its very easy to read. But I'm having some issues with things that the characters have done. Not gonna lie the hero Brady is a douchebag to put it kindly. He acts like a nympho who can't go a day without having sex and when he gets cursed(yea ok I'll roll with the magical implication of this book) he wants to use Cali for sex since she's the only one who gets his dick hard. Are you kidding me? Despite how he acts towards her and wants to blatantly use her she still can't resist his good lucks. As if. I just had to stop at 36% and am not sure I even want to continue.
The book was good, but the pacing was different. Storyline was good, albeit unbelievable at times, but it started out really slow, then was wrapped up far too quick...I think the beginning could've been shorter and the end a bit longer some how....but it was still good regardless.
I found this book by accident I guess. I was lucky enough to read an upcoming ARC of this author and it included 2 chapters of this book. It had me in stitches the first chapter. I was laughing my butt off ao hard that I downloaded this book in favor of an ARC that I was anticipating. This book has humor, insecurities and love throughout. Enjoy!
Brady kept me up all night. This was a fun read and I love how the hero is such a dude. The heroine is smart, sassy and strong-willed. The girl we all want to be.
I laughed and giggled sooo much I think I did my ab workout for the week in 1 day!
Author Liv Morris gives us this very funny romantic baseball comedy that is filled with scorching hot sex.
Feisty heroine Cali and alpha cocky baseball player Brady totally completed each other in this story.
I loved how Cali makes it hard for Brady to resist her even though she is stubborn as hell to fall for his tricks.
This story was a fast read and kept me very entertained. I liked that it was filled with romance that makes you smile and did not shy away from keeping it real which had my cherries popping.

I have had a lifelong love affair with the game of baseball. The game has certainly given me a fair share of heartbreaks (looking at you 1975, 1978, 1986 & 2003 Boston Red Sox) and joys (2004 World Series!!). I count A League of Their Own, Bull Durham and Field of Dreams among my very favorite movies. So a book about baseball? By Liv Morris? YES! PLEASE!
Hard Ball is just plain fun. I loved getting lost in this book because Liv Morris has a wonderful way with banter and it snaps and crackles like the best Hollywood romantic comedy. Her characters, Brady Luck and Cali Jones have a chemistry that is hot as a Chicago pizza oven and it is turned on full blast here. And lucky for us, we have box seats behind home plate for all the action!!!
Brady Jones has the world is every bit of charming and it is nothing short of spectacular to see the toast of Chicago set back on his heels by a woman who isn’t fully mesmerized by all the trappings. But through Cali’s eyes, we get to see that there is more to this man that what he does on the field or in bed and he is even better than advertised!!
Cali is a sweet and kind, but don’t mistake her as a pushover – the sass is strong with this one. Very strong. I loved so much about her, starting with that she was first and foremost a fan of the game of baseball and adored her local team. While she is a little starry-eyed by Brady, Cali still had most of her wits about her and didn’t hesitate to stick a pin or two in his very generous ego.
I loved watching Cali and Brady’s tango through their lives, as well everything that the outside world threw at them. Together these two were sweet, hot and sexy and they made me smile -- constantly.
Like I said, Hard Ball is just plain fun, but at its heart, this book is pure romance. Grab this book, settle in to your favorite reading spot and just fall in love. Happy reading!!!
I randomly came across this book and was skeptical at first when I couldn't find a review on GR. So, I took a chance and went for it.
Glad I did.
Totally enjoyed this story - even though our H, Brady Luck, was super cocky and a supreme manwhore (that's what gets him "cursed" in the first place).
But to every ying, there is a yang and our h, Cali Jones, was just that to Brady. He noticed it when he needs "help" with his situation that Cali is the only one to undo what was done (I'm being vague here, I know).
The premise of the story has been done before. We're all used to NDA's, faux relationships/engagements/marriages. This story was no different but still holds it own.
Overall, you do get a ton of chuckles out of this story, leaving you looking forward to the next installment of the series (Brady's brother, Bryce is up next!).
One of my issues - I hate when I "miss" when our H & h actually fall in love with each other. I know it was going to happen but I felt like one minute it was this then next minute it was that. It comes much later in the story.
But, overall, still a really good read to enjoy on the beach or sipping wine in your backyard!
Hard Luck is a perfect mix of hilarious LOL moments, swoony romance, and a cocky book boyfriend!
We meet Brady, star baseball player for Chicago, as he’s runs into one woman who intrigues him, and ends up with another that puts a curse on him at the end of their time together. When Brady needs a fix to his problems, the only one that seems to help is Cali, and she wants nothing to do with him. Cali is a strong headed, baseball loving, hard working, amazing character who is just what Brady needs to knock some sense into him.
These two on the outside are complete opposites, but as the story progresses you see how similar they really are, and why they just work. Even though Cali fought tooth and nail before they came into their agreement, I knew things were going to be hot between them, and I was not disappointed. I loved how she kept Brady on his toes, and didn’t put up with any of his crap. She balanced him perfectly and Brady fell hard for her, even without realizing it.
This is an extremely fast paced read, that had me laughing out loud, and swooning over and over again. Brady and Cali’s story isn’t a normal one, yet it was predictable at times. I loved watching them push each others buttons, and the steaminess and sexiness between these two.
If you’re looking for a fast paced romance that will leave your heart feeling happy at the end, I suggest adding Hard Luck to your TBR list today!
Brady Luck, a professional baseball player who loves to sleep around and have his pick of women until one women he kicks out his apartment turns his world upside down and curses him.
Cali Jones, a physicians assistant who specialises in men's health is still dealing with a nasty break up from a year or two ago. A night at a club has her swooning for the leading man on her favourite baseball team leaving her completely embarrassed.
Will Brady realise what will break his curse and will Cali ever get over the man who broke her heart? What will happen when Brady and Cali spend a little time together? Well, you're going to have to read the whole book to find that out.
Liv Morris has created an amazing story with Hard Luck. It's fun, emotional and damn right sexy. Cali's witty attitude will have you loving the bones of her and Brady's Cockiness and the passion he deals with have you falling in love with this gorgeous hunk.
This is my first book I've read from Liv and I certainly wasn't disappointed. It'll keep you hooked from the very beginning. If you want a hot sexy read with some laughs and romance this is definitely the book for you.
I absolutely loved this sweet yet sexy story about Chicago's Brady Luck - The man who will finally bring Chicago away from the curse their baseball team has been under for decades. The city loves him, especially the ladies. After one drunken night and a woman who has stayed way too long Luck finds himself under a new curse... His "equipment" won't work until he meets the right woman to break the curse.
This was a fun and sweet page turner and watch the cocky yet charming Brady turn from Manwhore to Man in Love was a fantastic journey. I love Cali and her sarcastic spitfire way of handling Brady and how both of their worlds turn upside down when they figure out that their relationship is much more than breaking a curse.
Can't wait for brother Bryce's book coming in September!!
I wanted to like this one more, but Brady was a hard character to like. He was a cocky baseball player that thought he was God-like with women when it came to sex. So when his luck changes at a crucial time in his season he does what he coach tells him to do and buys a woman to play a role to turn his luck around. Normally, I'm ok with these types of tropes, but for some reason I had an issue with tough as nails Cali falling to his charms (and money) when push came to shove.
If you have Kindle Unlimited, this isn't a bad book to pick up, it just didn't live up to the expectation I had in my head.
I really enjoyed the story of Brady and Cali. I have to admit that I wasn't to fond of Brady at first. He was a typical playboy, arrogant asshole with little respect for women. He didn't seem to value Cali that much at first, she was a means to solving his problems. But as you and Cali get to know him he starts to grow on you and you start to root for a Hea! Do they get it you'll have to read it and see, lol! This is a nice, light RomCom. Perfect for the summer!
I didn't think it would be possible for me to be appalled and then swoon right after in the exact same sentence. But damn...Brady Luck did just that!
I loved this book! Everything about it was fantastic...from the arrogance, to the romance and charm, this book is a grand slam! I'm a sucker for baseball themed romances.
This was my first book I have read by Liv Morris but definitely will not be my last. I absolutely loved Brady and Cali! If you have not one-clicked Hard Luck, what are you waiting for!
“I agreed to inspire your dick, not get asphyxiated by it.” I loved Cali Jones! She was the type of girl you wanna have in your friends posse. So much sass, and she gave Brady Luck a run for his money. I love that spark in a heroine! Brady Luck was just hilarious to me. Typical jock who didn’t see love coming for him. All of a sudden...BAM! Total KO for the elusive love em’ and leave em’ athlete. Gotta give it to him, he tried real hard just to leave all that serious love stuff outta the equation and just satisfy his urges with the sexy young PA, but no can do...his damn heart and his “bat” just couldn’t get on the same page. Hate it when that happens lol.
Another quick, funny, easy to love, fun spirited read! Perfect way to end an angsty, miserable week and take a load off the stress. I plan to finish the series, and I’d recommend this one if you want low drama, lotsa laughs, and a book that is sure to help you relax along the journey to a HEA. Very pleased that I picked this up!! ❤️🔥👏
This book was part of a giveaway in order to receive a free sticker. My inner child loves stickers so I figured I could pick 10 from the list to read. So far, this sticker had better kiss me goodnight and do my taxes for the underwhelming experience I've had with these books.
This book was very weird with the cursing from the voodoo queen, and then 3/4 of the plot being about Brady's broken dick. That's what he gets for screwing over 200 women in less than year. The damn thing probably figured it was one more piece of ass away from genital warts. The curse throws his game off too when they're trying for the World Series. Then whatshername (I'll have to go back to the blurb to remember) was truly pathetic. This guy is a pig and she's all "but he's soooooo hot and wears his baseball pants like a second skin and I wanna lick him."
I kept screaming "SHALLOW HAL WANTS A GAL" at my kindle. That's what this book reminded me of.
Brady Luck. A super-manwhore, making women sport sleeps with a voodoo queen and think his game -on the pitch as well as in bed- is off. ho to save him from this curse? Why, of course, the sweet doctor's assistant who's already come face to face with the crown jewels.
Is this a story to write home about? To laud and enter into the Indie Romance Hall of Fame? Nah. But it's fun. It captured me. It made me not want to start my day and instead read read read til I was done. Are there scenes to shake my head at? Sure. Is the hero enviable with his 200+ conquests in 2 years? Not really.. but he changes. And not in a grovelly-absolute 180-change. No, he stays his charming-arrogant-smarmy way, but those edges become round, become smoothed down when he changes simply by being the guy you want around yourself.
Fun, sexy, and thoroughly enjoyable. Can't wait for Bryce.
