Rosie Featherstone loves her high-flying job at a social media firm. So what if she isn’t married and settled like her sister? A relationship would only get in the way of this workaholic’s hectic schedule!
So when she unexpectedly finds herself at a loose end for a month, Rosie keeps busy by helping her Italian nonna serve espressos and biscotti at the Lemon Tree Café, a little slice of Italy nestled in the rolling hills of Derbyshire.
Worryingly though, the café’s fortunes seem to have taken a turn for the worse since Rosie last went home. But with Nonna blind to the truth and angry at the idea of anyone interfering, the two are soon at loggerheads.
However, just when Rosie decides it’s time to head back to reality, an old acquaintance suddenly reappears, and the prospect of life at the Lemon Tree Café begins to seem more appetizing . . .
Cathy Bramley is the author of the best-selling romantic comedies Ivy Lane, Appleby Farm, Wickham Hall, Conditional Love and The Plumberry School of Comfort Food. She lives in a Nottinghamshire village with her family and a dog.
Her recent career as a full-time writer of light-hearted, romantic fiction has come as somewhat of a lovely surprise after spending eighteen years running her own marketing agency. However, she has been always an avid reader, never without a book on the go and now thinks she may have found her dream job!
No strata času, spomedzi týchto "kaviarňových" kníh ide o veľmi slabú vec.
This was a great start to what I'm pretty sure will be a highly entertaining and enjoyable story. This first instalment to the story draws you in right from the first page, introducing you to all the characters, getting a feel for the family and the illicit village.
I've enjoyed getting to know the characters and can't wait to see how there lives will develope and what will happen over the next three instalments.
"Predstav si starého človeka, čo žije sám a práve s tebou vedie prvý rozhovor.
Kaviarnička pod citronovníkom v sebe sľubuje oddych a príchuť malomesta, do ktorého sa hrdinka vráti potom, čo dá výpoveď v práci.
I really do like books released in installments. Quick to read - perfect escapism in a small parcel. Loved the Lemon Tree Cafe and it's idyllic location. Some great new characters to develop along with some old friends. What us there not to like. Can't wait for the next installment. Another winner from this author.
Postavy neměly hloubku a příběhu chyběla atmosféra.
Lemon Tree Cafe... what can I say? It took me a while to read this one, I have to say. If I had to sum it up in one word it would be something like ‘sweet’ or ‘nice’. It’s definitely a sit by the pool on holiday reading something that doesn’t require any mental energy kind of a book. Predictable, ‘samey’ and a maybe even a bit flat. Having said that it was a nice, comfortable read. I didn’t get frustrated by it and the characters were likeable and well visualised. Plus I’d totally like a visit for a coffee and a slice of pizza!
Was ok. Just be warned that although this is a series of books, it’s actually 1 book split into 4 books! Each book is not a different story/person but a continuation of the same story.
Career, family and secrets..... Quick read, looking forward to reading the next book, perfectly worded with your imagination painting pictures as you read.
Like all other Cathy Bramley books, this one sucks you in to village life from page one. I really can't wait to read book 2 to find out if Rosie stays in the village or leaves for a career in Manchester.
Rosie Featherstone leaves her media job due to having different work ethics to her boss.
While looking for other work, she helps in her Grandmother's cafe, The Lemon Tree, where Rosie starts to feel at home and wondering if staying in the area and working with the people she knows and loves. Rosie faces a dilema when she is offered her dream job in Manchester, but now she has to decide if she should stay or go.
I loved this first book of four about Rosies life and can't wait for the second one to come out in a few weeks.
