When their best friends’ summer wedding in London pushes proud judgmental medical missionary Matthew Coalbrooke and bubbly shoe-aholic kitchenware saleswoman Anita Kiernan together, it’s dislike at first sight. The only thing they can both agree on is that the bride and groom’s matchmaking attempts are bound to fail. Between his pride and her prejudice, there could hardly be a less likely couple. But God has a bigger plan for them than they can possibly imagine.
The Love in Store series is set around a stately old London department store, and the same settings and staff pop up in each book. But there's no need to read the series in order. Every story is a complete romance, following a different couple through the trials and joys of a developing love, deepening their faith in the process, until they're ready for the happy-ever-after God has planned for them.
Teapots & Tiaras is a Christian romance. Includes hints of Pride and Prejudice, a church wedding, a couple of sweet kisses, and some gentle humour, as well as British grammar and spelling.
Complete with British English Glossary.

Faith, Hope, & Heartwarming - inspirational romance to make you smile!
Autumn Macarthur is an Australian writer of inspirational romance living near London with her very English husband and six spoiled cats. She loves reading, cooking, gardening, and writing deeply emotional stories to make you smile and remind you how big and wide and deep God's love and forgiveness can be.
She tends to talk a little too much, laugh a little too loud, and eat a little more than maybe she should. She's thankful to be blessed with some good friends and a very patient husband. Most of all, she's eternally grateful for God's great love and mercy.
When she's not writing or talking to her strawberry plants and cherry blossoms, she can be found blogging at www.faithhopeandheartwarming.com or on Substack.
She'd love to hear from you!

It was so nice to read a contemporary story, set in a place I have visited a few times, and written using British phrases and spelling. (The author is an Aussie who is married to a Brit and has lived in Britain for several years.) That all helped to make me feel truly "at home".
It was also a Pride & Prejudice type story, which added another English flavour to the story. I enjoyed following Matthew and Anita as they learnt to "let go" and move into the plans God had for them. With Matthew's abnoxious pride at the beginning, and Anita's love of shoes in particular and seemingly rather frivolous, I did wonder whether I was going to like this story. But I soon got sucked in and got invested with the characters, getting to know them beyond outward appearance they displayed. I came away from the story with a smile on my face.
Just out of interest I read her glossary of British words for her US readers. One thing she said was that historical readers might be interested to know that The Great Road North they might be familiar with from then, is the A1 of today she mentions in her book. I hadn't given it a whole lot of thought, but thinking about it, yes it would be. Not really sure why I hadn't made the connection before, but at least when I read about The Great Road North now, I'll imagine an old style A1.
Teapots & Tiaras is an inspirational, uplifting, opposites attract romance. Initially Anita and Matthew can barely tolerate each other. This well written book is their journey with God, to acceptance, admiration and love. There are some wonderfully funny lines as the two banter, but there is also some overwhelming sadness. Easily read as a lone book but if you have read the books before this one, you will recognize old friends. I highly recommend the entire series!
TEAPOTS & TIARAS is, I think, the first book I read by Ms. MacArthur, but I'm sure it won't be the last. I greatly enjoyed getting to know spunky, outspoken, plus-sized Anita (with a shoe collection a shoe store could envy) and rude, my-word-is-gospel Matthew. Both Anita and Matthew had baggage to get over and around and it was so fun watching their relationship go from crush, to hearty dislike, to maybe he's okay, to eventual love. And Anita's misadventures with blind dates are laughable.
I'm glad I had the opportunity to read this book -- normally I don't buy books by authors I don't know, but this was in the boxed set Whispers of Love with Valerie Comer (a favorite contemporary author) and I bought the collection for Ms. Comer's new book. Boxed sets are a good way to get to know new-to-you authors and I would look for more by Ms. MacArthur when I need a new book to read.
Teapots And Tiaras by Autumn Macarthur is a delightful contemporary Christian novel and part of the Love In Store series. It is also in a collection entitled Three Weddings. I thoroughly enjoyed catching up with familiar characters. There are the twin themes of love and duty. Sometimes in life we witness love stifled by duty. We see the detrimental effects on a character after his grandfather preached duty above all else. We all need love. When we are loved, we feel safe. Love is priceless. It is a terrible thing to misrepresent God. “He’d never measured up to the perfection his grandfather’s God demanded.” God is not a frowning, angry God waiting for us to mess up. God is a God of love who when He sees us mess up, He walks beside us and helps us clear up our messes. We never have to earn His love. God’s gift to us is His love. He loves us completely and always will. When we pray, we need to be ‘real’ with God. He “wanted to pray but that well had run dry.” When we have no words, God hears the yearnings of our heart. Praying is just talking to God but we need to remember to listen too. “Perhaps he had no idea of what God’s will for him was because he’d forgotten to slow down enough to listen.” There is the theme of healing. Sometimes we need physical healing. Sometimes we need spiritual healing. Teapots And Tiaras was a sweet story which revealed the love of God for us all. I received a free copy from the author. A favourable review was not required. All opinions are my own.
Loved this book!! Matthew and Anita meet when their best friends, James and Beth, are getting married. Matthew has been working in Africa, and resents having to return to London. Matthew has been taught that women are only good for one thing, producing an heir. He's not ready for that yet, and resents being reminded that it's his duty and that he's over 30. Anita wants to fall in love as Beth and James have, and though she's drawn to Matthew, she knows he's heading back to Africa as soon as he can. The more time they spend together, though, the more both of them falls for the other. Anita comes to realize that she's never really felt loved by anyone, not even God, but it's because she's afraid that all will leave her. When she finally realizes that God does love her and will never leave her, she realizes just how much she wants Matthew to do the same. Matthew has had a false sense of who God is his whole life, as he's been taught wrongly by his grandfather. When he meets Anita and sees her faith, how she can talk to God so openly, and after he talks with his godfather, he realizes he's been wrong about how he needs to relate to God. The more he opens up to God, the more he realizes how much he truly loves Anita. I love this book, and love how each of the characters grows in their faith!!
I received a complimentary copy of this book, was not required to leave a review, and the opinion expressed is my own.
This is NOT a book to read at night in bed because it will make one laugh out loud! There are also tender moments that brought tears to my eyes. And so many wonderfully descriptive phrases that actually gave me a visual of what the author was saying, like: “An elephant of grief and concern sat on Anita’s chest.” And: “had her prickles raised like an angry hedgehog.” And “Help me not to go redheaded on him.” And: “sadness weighed stone heavy in her chest.” The story is written around the topics of fear of rejection, abandonment, self-worth, actions speaking louder than words, the need for love, and learning to trust. This book was an absolute DELIGHT to read, and it is now on my favorite list of books that I have read. I won this book on FaceBook, and chose to leave my own honest review because I enjoyed this so very much!!! It's DELIGHTFULLY Funny and yet thought-provoking!
Matthew lost his parents as a young child, so was reared by an old, bitter control-freak of a grandfather. According to Grandfather, emotions were a weakness. He instilled all of these inappropriate behaviors into Matthew, as well as duty first to the Coolbrooke Trust. Matt is an African missionary for the Trust, but has been summoned home by the Trust and for a friend's wedding where he meets Anita. They did not like each other instantly. However, she"grows" on him and he begins to challenge all of Grandfather's behaviors. Consequently, many of the thoughts and behaviors change, including his faith. There are several secrets that both of them have that contribute to their relationship, but you will have to read the story to find them out. It is a good story, but surely needs some grammar and punctuation work. There are things like sentence fragments and at times the references to characters are confusing. If these were cleaned up, I believe I would rate the story higher.
A sweet, Christian story which was rather predictable with a lot of repetition about the feeling of Matthew for Anita, and Anita for Matthew; however, as Autumn Macarthur is so skilled in setting up her plots and characters, it still made me smile and wonder about what the future of the characters would be. Little Daisy is adorable as she appears all through the story, and many acts of love, loyalty and dedication is shown throughout.
I was about to rate this cute story as a 3, but then changed it to a 4 because, as I said above, this author's characters and plots are very memorable and that takes skill. Sometimes we just need a book which leaves us with a smile on our faces for days, and Teapots and Tiaras does that.
Wow! I loved this story. As part of the three volume set, Three Weddings, this story was so engaging. I loved Anita and her wild red hair. Matthew, the Doctor pulled from the mission field to continue with his grandfathers Mission work in the UK. Their start was shaky at best, he the best man and she the maid of honor at their best friends wedding. He under the impression that Daisy was Anita's child, and she not bothering to correct him. This story had such a great vibe. The characters felt true in their constant misunderstandings. But when romance blooms, they finally find their way.
Clean, contemporary Christian story. Loved it.
Neither the publisher nor the author paid me for this review. All opinions are mine alone.
Clean Christian romance between two unlikely people
Anita was a flamboyant, loving woman while Matthew seemed cold and almost uncaring. That was the enjoyment of reading their story. Almost laughable misunderstandings and wrong assumptions. Both Anita and Matthew had been abandoned as children - each in a different way but still abandoned. How they came to accept that they were valued, worthy adults made this story a reminder for me to always remember that God loves his children. Autumn Macarthur writes about this better than any other author I've read. By the way, you'll want to read this joy -filled story. There is humor along with sadness and best of all a HEA!
I liked that the hero has such an incredible character arc. He is truly humbled by his new situation and learns to open his heart to love (and heartache).
The heroine learns some things about herself and why she holds on to 'things'.
Both characters feel attraction, but their fears and issues almost keep them apart. However, there is a lovely HEA.
This is the first book I've read by Autumn MacArthur I enjoyed the reliance on the Lord and the faith that her characters show. They feel like real people who have struggled with hurt. I'll definitely be reading more of her books!
*poor, **ok, ***good, ****very good, *****something special
A lovely story of 2 individuals who thought they knew what life was for them. Matthew, a doctor, working as a missionary in Africa because his grandfather expected it of him and Anita, a store worker, who cared deeply for her niece and was prepared to do everything to support her sister to look after Daisy, her daughter. Once Matthew meets Anita he is forced to look at his life and what he is missing. Anita and Matthew are rewarded when God shows that they are meant to be together.
Anita is helping her parents to support her institutionalized sister and her baby niece, Daisy. Matthew, having arrived from his mission in Africa to head up the home office, is busy misjudging Anita as a fibberty gibbet. Her passion for shoes certainly does not mean she is shallow- just short. A fun story to follow as both Anita and Matthew learn who lies under the surface as they get to know each other.
What a great book on love and forgiveness. This was a great story to read and let your mind wander to all the things that can take place in your life as well as the lives of your friends and family. To learn how to live with cancer and how to enjoy your faults and overcome your fears as well as follow the characters through London and Cambridge. Well written Autum. Now for number 6. This is my review and mine alone. Norma Gorrill
Teapots & Tiaras, the story of Anita, a girl full of spunk who’s reactions to certain situations (or people) aren’t always predictable. She doesn’t swoon or turn to mush, instead she keeps her cool and drags her shoe collection into the conversation as often as needed. Another great read from Autumn Macarthur! Her characters are always so likable—it feels like they’re real people, doing real things, flaws and all.
This is by far my favorite book yet of Autumn Macarthur. She does a wonderful job unraveling the heart of handsome, well-renowned, Dr Matthew Coalbrooke as he works through issues alongside a surprise interest in plain and ordinary Anita Kiernan. Each character starts off guarded, but end up open and vulnerable as each discovers their true selves spring-boarding from their encounters with each other. (I received this book from the publisher. All thoughts and comments are my own.)
Anita spends her life selling kitchen wares and caring for her niece. She spends her money buying shoes! ! Love just isn't happening for her. Matthew has dedicated his life as a doctor in war-torn Africa, caring for the poor villagers. He doesn't believe love is real, and certainly not needed for a productive life. But sometimes, love happens unawares, maybe even healing a wounded heart. Another exceptional book by Autumn Macarthur.
Anita loves with her entire being, but questions her worth. Matthew believes his worth lies in his talent as a doctor, but love is not part of his bedside manner. In this Pride and Prejudice-inspired contemporary Christian novel, opposites attract despite the obstacles in their way. As the characters develop, change, and grow spiritually, their ideas about love evolve with them. A sweet clean romance.
Love how she always praying! I like books where the characters grow and develop and fulfill a Godly calling. This book does that, with some added warmth and sparkle the characters bring. A good turn-around and healing in relationships always good too. A really nice read, with a great ending.
Another great book in a great series. I'm really enjoying this series and all the characters. It's good to read a series that talks about God's love and his guidance in our lives. I loved Anita and Matthew's story and little Daisy was a good addition to the story.
An uplifting story about Matthew Coalbroke, a Doctor from an African mission who is called home to run the mission when his grandfather dies. When he meets Anita Kiernan sparks fly. They are thrown together numerous times as she is Maid of Honor and he is the Best Man in his best friend’s wedding. Both have misconceptions about the other. A must read.
I love Anita! She is such a fun loving character. It was fun getting to know her better. Matthew is a more complex character and not one I cared for in the beginning, but as he finally allowed emotions back into his life he was a great guy. He and Anita make a wonderful couple and I loved their story.
This is a sweet love story with ups and downs. A woman who.wants love and a man who isn't sure what love is. The other characters in the book are worth knowing too
I enjoyed each of the others in the series but I think I enjoyed the theme of this book the most. I contains some great theme statements. Most are highlighted as notes. This story helps the reader understand love.
With the trademark Macarthur touch of humour, this book chronicles a most surprising match. Shades of Pride and Prejudice hover as the pompous missionary collides with the frivolous shoe-lover. It's clean, wholesome and a delight.
Story is built gradually and brings the beauty of rediscovering a true relationship with God. The main character s had baggage from childhood which god deals with.
A very enjoyable book! Anita meets Matthew at the airport to give him a ride thinking ahead of time that he's awesome. Was she disappointed? You bet! Matthew is proud. Stuffy. Read and see how God works on both their hearts to bring them to know Him better and each other.
I absolutely loved this story❣️I’ve been reading these Clean Christian stories series and have enjoyed every single one‼️ I think Autumn Macarthur is Fierce! A Must Read ~ I rate it 5⭐️’s
