Oh, it only gets worse

I finished the first book and gave a scathing review, but I decided to give it a second go in hopes that it would improve. It only gets worse. There's zero suspense because the author doesn't allow there to be any suspense. They are constantly prophesying what the characters will be or are in some cases. That is until it doesn't fit the lane change they decided on last minute as they were writing. It's terrible. I'm still baffled by the comparison to the Cradle series.

This is like amateur hour in literary form. I will openly admit I was confused and grasping for context and understanding when I began reading the Cradle series. It took me a few chapters to really get me into the book, but not once did I regret reading it and giving it a shot. It's what started me on this journey into cultivation books.

Cradle kept me guessing and wondering if my favorite characters were even going to survive to the end. I never felt anyone in the series was ever truly safe. That's part of the reason it was so good. I only say all of that as actual constructive criticism. I feel like this author has massive potential. They're a beautiful dreamer, but they've got a long way to go at this point.

I'm actually starting to wonder if they paid a company to say it was comparative to Cradle. That was a mistake. A massive one.

The overall plot and general storyline is good. I find be an enjoyable read overall but the timelines throughout the book are a struggle to parse through. Most of the story feels like it is taking place over the course of a few days but the chat will casually state that it’s been months that have passed. This does not mesh well with overall flow as it’ll state earlier in the book that only a few hours have passed. This is the only critique I have and it can at times steal away some of the attention away from the plot due to the confusion introduced to the reader.

Different direction from book 1

In most cultivation novels there is an effort to slow the growth of the MC for plot development. However this was a bit much. From month to get from 0 to peak of the spirtual tier to five years to break through to the next next made the development of book one feel pointless.

Basically he worked out for 5 years?

This was taken in a different direction from book 1. It doesnt touch on the aftermath of book one at all.

MC Felt like a smaller charachter from a plot standpoint in this book.

The quality is consistently high, at least in terms of plot. character and world-building.

If I can offer one piece of advice to the author... Dialogue is formatted like this:
"Blah blah blah," charactername said adverbedly. He paused briefly and then continued, "Blah blah blah."
There's no need for a line break at the end of every quotation mark.

Keep up the good work.

what a huge let down this was (spoilers)

The first book was good, not great but good I thought the second edition to the series would improve but it was a major downgrade. Majority of the story was the main character talking to baby animals that have for some reason been abandoned; the plot makes no sense. Why is he now a bird when in the first novel his azure lighting was represented as a snake? It’s so full of holes that it’s honestly annoyed me.

It was ok....I guess

I found d the first book to be better than this one. Not a fan of the elemental beasts arc. Hopefully the author gets back to humans because the beast plot is boring

I read this book on wuxiaworld.

The continuation of a hero path that is already powerfull but has to grow a lot more. This is a different story, as the hero goes on it's own, to try to find himself, though he might not like what he's going to find.

So cute

I love this introduction to the realm of beasts. The cute baby beasts are so precious. I'm glad the main character hasnt given up on caring for others. I never expected the main character to have beast lineage.

Great continuation

This was a real good development of the MC. With him developing feelings for others and opening his heart. However, the cliffhanger was upsetting. I wanted closure with the real villian.

dissappointing

The 1st book was far much better. This 2nd book’s storyline is jumping around and the whole book is like the story of mowgli in disney cartoon. I lost my interest to read the next book.

Good book

Very intense book I'm normally not a fan of stories that change characters and time lines erratically but the story was good and has me definitely interested in reading more

Really good.

Simply put. If you liked the first book, then you're probably going to like this one.

It is a bit more polished than the first one, with a compelling story. And, on top of that, there are cute critter characters.

Highly recommended.

We went Beast Mode on this one and not in a good way. Carlon's progression was the only thing keeping me reading, everything else i did not like. The ending brought back the two characters i loved from the first book so i will be reading the third book.

Found it to be lacking. The hole animal city / kingdom wasn't well executed . Though, it does get good towards the end, so much so. I had to buy book three.

Eh

Again the book tends to suffer from grandiose ideas and poor execution. The main character just seems to magically understand and use new, stronger abilities

Hella Awsome!!!

There are no words to express how freaking obsessed I have become with this story! Fantasy is one of my favorite genres of books & for me too be so enchanted by 'big brothers' life is a new level of awesome. There was never a point where I was loosing interest or not following the story. I definitely loved how I got to experience different POVs throughout both books & how that kind of filled in gaps in the story & added to the overall reader experience. Loved these first 2 books & can't wait for the third!!!!!!!
