When journalists Gemma Masterton and David Levy start investigating their colleague's untimely death, they uncover a world of sex, violence and murder. As events spiral out of control, the two reporters realise they're in over their heads. Their main question now is whether they can survive long enough to find and expose the killer before the killer finds them. Chris Brosnahan's pacy thriller lifts the lid on an unfamiliar London, full of ulterior motives and deception.
I read this book through The Pigeonhole and enjoyed it very much. The intricacy of the plot was well paced and clear. The action was swift and very intriguing. The characters were well fleshed out although the romantic moments were a little trite. But they were peripheral to the main story, so did not interfere in any way. The story dealt with the lack of morals often embraced by those in power and the author did not push any point of view, so the reader was able to keep to a personal point of view. The ending was a touch unfinished, but all over - a very enjoyable story - well done to the author.
I read this book via the Pigeonhole, but after the initial serialisation, thank goodness, because after the first two staves, I read the whole book in one sitting. It was gripping, well written, with real, likeable characters. The plot was fairly routine, with not many twists and turns, but it wasn't predictable, either. The ending was maybe a little trite, but for all that, satisfying.
