Everyone tells Sheriff Sam Garrett to find a good woman and settle down. When he sets his sights on Clifton’s veterinarian, he fears she despises him yet he’s desired her from the first moment they met. She is quite possibly the only woman in town who isn’t attracted to him which might be why he wants her even more.
Tessa McGuire has a secret and she fears anyone learning it, especially Sam who she can’t seem to resist even though she knows she should. After arresting her for outstanding warrants, desire fuels their mutual needs to the point where neither can resist its pull. Once they start seeing each other, she’s happier than she’s ever been but knows she should tell him the truth.
Tessa wants Sam to be happy, but wanting him for her own is dangerous because her secret could change everything… When her secret comes out, Tessa’s life and hopes fall apart, possibly putting everyone around her in danger. What once was a hopeful relationship with Sam comes to a heartbreaking end. Now can she win him back and save what they had?

Tessa moves to Clifton to get away from a cruel and abusive husband. As the local vet, she sees lots of people in town but shy's away from getting to know them for fear they will all find out her secret. Sheriff Sam Garrett wants her but she keeps resisting. When she finally gives in, it gets very hot, very fast but her past has caught up with her. When Sam finds out her secret, he is so angry he leaves her. He ends up having to save her from her abusive husband but will he forgive her for keeping this a secret?

I normally don't like books with cheating in a marriage, but with this story, it was totally different. When you read it, you will understand why! I LOVED this book and would recommend it to everyone who loves a hometown cowboy who knows how to keep his woman happy!!

Sam is book seven in the Men of Clifton, Montana series by Susan Fisher-Davis, but can certainly be read as a standalone. In this book, hunky sheriff Sam finds himself wanting the town’s veterinarian, Tessa. Tessa is the only woman to really capture all of Sam’s attention and believe me, other women have tried. Tessa is hiding a big secret and doesn’t plan on getting involved with anyone, especially the mouthwatering sheriff, but when he wears her down, Tessa finds herself at crossroads. Her secret is a big one and could potentially ruin any chance with him, but her attraction to Sam is just too deep to ignore. Secrets have a way of coming out and when they do, Tessa has some explaining to do!

I really enjoyed Sam and Tessa’s story. I loved both characters and felt for both of them. Trust is a big factor in a relationship and when it’s gone, it’s hard to get back. Thankfully, this talented author believes in happy endings, because that’s exactly what we get. Tessa and Sam’s journey is filled with love, respect, and passion but they’ve got a bumpy ride ahead of them. Great story!

Meet Sheriff Sam Garrett my new hot book boyfriend!!
5+++ stars!! Wow... I loved this book! I have obsessed over Sam since he was introduced in the first Men of Clifton book. What happens when an author creates a story that leaves you breathless wrapped in a gorgeous cover - MAGIC!! Matt Oubre is the perfect Sam.. With each book I became intrigued with the men of Clifton, Montana and the women they loved. The author left me wanting more of this hot sheriff each time she would weave Sam's character into a storyline. Sam and Tessa's story won't disappoint the reader. With every twist and turn I became immersed in the story tuning the world out. Sign me up to be the president of Sheriff Sam Garrett's fan club!!

I was waiting for Sam's story since he was introduced in the first book of this series, Jake. Who couldn't love Sam? Tall, handsome, dark-haired, blue-eyed AND a sheriff. He's every woman's dream and so I waited patiently for his story, the one in which the perpetual bachelor would find the love of his life. Or will he? In an engaging story where the motives of those involved are in constant question, Sam is a thrilling tale filled with emotional ups and downs. Containing all the elements of a fabulous romance, from the perfect book boyfriend, a strong heroine who's easy to relate to and love, and ... well, you'll never get spoilers from me. If you'd read this series then you have undoubtedly been waiting for Sam's story. You won't be disappointed.

I love book series - Men of Clifton will always be one of my favorites. We have all wanted SAM to get his HEA. Sam and Tessa finally get their chance but not without a few tests along the way -- wow such great chemistry. When Tessa's secret is revealed it's hard for Sam to forgive but they finally work through the roadblocks and make sure a great couple. Loved this book and how it drew me in cheering Sam and Tessa together.

Lies

What kind of like would it take for you to say forget the whole thing? A lie by omission or one spoken out loud.

A fitting finale to the series

I have been waiting for Sam's story throughout the series and it was well worth it. Such a pity there are no more friends in Clifton, Montana. Sam is a wonderful character in the stories and he proves to be even more so in this one. Strong, handsome, brave, friendly yet humble, vulnerable with flaws like everyone else.
Tessa McGuire is the local veterinarian and has lived in Clifton for two years. For some reason, she will have nothing to do with sheriff Sam Garret, going out of her way to avoid speaking or meeting him. Sam can't understand why she doesn't like him, because he surely fancies her! Love is a hard road to walk on as Sam finds out, but will the troubles that arise be too much for the couple?

The attractive Sheriff Sam Garrett

This is book seven and it features the attractive Sam Garrett, Sheriff. I am reading not in order, but had to go back to find out what happened for Sam Garrett and Tessa. They play a predominant role in many of the other books and are a sweet couple. Sheriff calls her angel and is dedicated to loving Tessa. This is their beginning and it is a struggle. Tessa is harboring a secret that keeps her pushing Sheriff Sam away. Fortunately or unfortunately Tessa and Sam’s attraction is too deep to ignore so they give in. Then the past catches up with them. There is a happy ending. Read On!

Great!

I chose this rating because this was actually a pretty great book. I pretty much enjoyed all of the characters. This was a book of compassion, kindness, complications, staying safe, protection, and falling in love. I enjoyed Sam and Tessa story. I think the author did a great job putting these characters together. When Sam found out about her past it through a damper in things, but everything worked out as it should have. I recommend this book to all romance readers.

Forgiveness is possible for the right one

Hope all the romantics out there get to read SAM. This is one for the books that has you melting and laughing at the same time. Sam stayed true to his word as Sheriff but still has a sense of duty. I liked Sam almost as much as Wyatt’s book as two strong characters stand by their women no matter what they have to do to find the right one in their life.

Love at First Site

Deception mystery and love. All rolled into one. He spotted her across the room at a bar. Sam and Tessa were just ment to be together. The passion and love making can drive a man or woman wild. Susan's description of the love making scene keep you tide to the scene. The story line make you want to stay up all night to finish the book. I've been read for about six or seven days sometime until 3:00 in the morning. I love these books.

"Sheriff "

In the other books, he was put on a pedestal and I was looking forward to this book. But he wasn't on a pedestal in this one so much. It could if been more flirting by both of them. Granted he got the girl in the end but just seemed she should of still fought the urge.

Stand alone

Although this book is part of a series it can be read as a stand alone. Sam was not my idea of a book boyfriend. I personally didn't /couldn't connect with him. He did have a sense of humor but was a downer.

I found that most of the story consisted of details of their sexual encounters and not interesting, interacting lives together.

Tessa had a secret that she hoped no one would find out. Especially the sheriff, Sam Garrett. Sam had wanted Tessa from the first moment he saw her but she kept acting like she hated him. Eventually he wears her down and she agrees to have dinner with him. One thing Sam can't handle is lies and he reminds her of that all the time. Tessa knows in her heart she should tell him the truth but is afraid of losing him. Her secret finds her and Sam learns the truth. Can they work through this or is Sam destined to be alone?? I absolutely loved this book. It brings out all of your emotions. It is a must read!!!
