WINNER of the 2015 PWA Shamus Award for Best Paperback Original and the 2015 ITW Thriller Award for Best Paperback Original!

Dick Moonlight can’t help himself. Moonlight, the private detective known as the head case with a bullet lodged in his brain, should be grateful for his current job. But when it becomes clear the cash-starved brain surgeon he’s been hired to drive around is protecting his son from a rape conviction, Moonlight is disgusted.

Worse, when the charges turn into a case of “reckless murder,” Moonlight’s the only one trying to keep the kid from the electric chair though the girl—a state senator’s daughter—clearly committed suicide. Then Moonlight and his unwilling assistant, a fat Elvis impersonator owing him money, stumble into a much bigger plot and are soon dodging Hollywood obsessed drug-running Russian thugs, corrupt government officials, and the specter of Moonlight’s recently diseased girlfriend.

New York Times bestselling author Vincent Zandri delivers another fast-paced, grizzly thriller in the Dick Moonlight series, offering readers plenty of wry humor, bullets, car chases, and Scarface references.

Moonlight Weeps
A Dick Moonlight PI Thriller, Book 8
By: Vincent Zandri
Narrated by: Andrew B. Wehrlen
This is an audible book I requested and the review is voluntary.
I really loved this rough and tough PI and his unintentional side kick of "Elvis". A great mystery, wonderfully developed characters, a very devious plot, a touch of gore (not much even though the Russian mob is in it), and a hint of romance. I liked the humor, the witty dialogue, and how the whole thing just works. A real gem of a read! (or listen)
The narrator was truly awesome! He did all the voices just perfect for those characters and in each situation, and that was no easy task! He kept the story interesting and enhanced the story in my opinion. Wonderful job!!!

Like a great summer blockbuster, Vincent Zandri's Moonlight Weeps has been highly anticipated and delivers. (If I could hold a book and munch popcorn at the same time, I would.) The eighth book in the series, it's obvious that Zandri's adventures for Moonlight have no chance of waning. But don't let all of this fun and suspense fool you, Zandri is a writer's writer and his eloquent phrasing and spot-on descriptions are a thing of beauty.

Moonlight Weeps - a review by Rosemary Kenny

When a disgraced and disbarred brain surgeon hires PI Dick Moonlight (and his deputy, an Elvis tribute act), to investigate ways to get his delinquent son Stephen Schroder, cleared of rape and other accusations (where the alleged victim, Amanda Bates, has committed suicide), re-instated at his high school, it seems a fairly easy task for our hero, in Moonlight Weeps, Book 8 in the wonderful series by illustrious writer Vincent Zandri, especially when the youth in question asserts he's gay!
Of course Dick's cases are - like the course of true love - never smooth-running, leaving Dick convinced that the botched, self-inflicted, gun suicide remnant lodged in his brain, is finally going to be the death of him too.
What does he find about the so-called gay Stephen? What secrets are both Stephen and his father hiding from Dick and the police?
What was the true relationship between Stephen and Amanda? Who was feeling jealous of Amanda and Stephen's supposed affair?
What reason to hate Dr Schroder did Deputy Miller have? Who is Lola and who helps her and Dick reunite after the case is concluded?

Don't miss this great laugh-out-loud/edge of your seat all-action thriller by the remarkable Vincent Zandri - you'll love it and all the series - guaranteed!

We find our intrepid P.I. Moonlight enjoying a cushy job driving a brain surgeon around after he lost his license due to a D.W.I… Moonlight is morally irked when he discovers the surgeon is protecting his loud-mouthed, irritating son from rape and possible murder charges. This piqued Moonlight’s interest to look into the son and the charges. Unintentionally, Moonlight also investigated his client, the surgeon, by association. By investigating, Moonlight began to believe the son was being framed, the father was up to no good, and Moonlight expanded his services to the surgeon by taking the son as a client while passing the driving duties off to his friend Elvis. Moonlight had his work cut out for himself. Lola, Moonlight’s recently deceased lover, is never far from his mind. Especially when he believes he saw her coming out of a cafe. Driven by grief and guilt, Moonlight looks deeper into the accident but can find no proof of Lola’s death. Is it possible, could Lola still be alive? Excellent story, great characters, and a well-deserved recommendation. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Moonlight Weeps is AWESOME!!!

I love the fact that Moonlight can easily fit into any situation, legal or illegal, kick butt, take names, and keep it all together enough to keep going on and on until his job's complete. He's got an assorted mishmash army of supporters behind him, who always manage to bring in the Calvary at exactly the right crucial moment. And no matter how hopeless the situation gets, he always walks away from all of the troubles that he gets himself involved in smelling like a rose, and with his job perfectly and competently completed to the satisfaction of him, most of his clients, and often, even the police. As an added bonus, the last paragraph of this particular book is deserving of fireworks and celebration, it was a "picture perfect ending," and I LOVED IT! Thanks Vincent Zandri, for yet another fabulous "Moonlight Story," to add to the previous "Moonlight P.I." books in this continuing series, about a seriously flawed private investigator, who always leaves me looking forward to his next investigation case!!!

"Brain surgery is a risky business."
Moonlight is a Private Eye with a bullet lodged in his head. His most recent client is a brain surgeon. A pairing made in heaven? Well.
, not exactly ...

Once again Mr.Zandri has written an unusual, fast paced and humerous well written work, replete with snappy one liners. Reading this fun action story is the excellent Andrew Wehrien, whose narration perfectly fits with the character and his sardonic attitude, whilst the voicings of everyone else is distinct and individualistic.
My thanks to the rights holder for gifting me a complementary copy of Moonlight Weeps, at my request, via Audiobook Boom. Great performance, fun book. Recommended.

I'm new to this series but not for long! I was worried that being the eighth book in the series I would have trouble getting into it, having missed so much. Those worries were summarily quashed as I dove in. Wow, what a terrific story! I just couldn't stop listening to this fast-paced thriller laced with quirky characters, humor and great dialogue. Dick Moonlight, where have you been and why didn't I know about you? I can always count on Andrew B. Wehrlen for topnotch narration and he certainly didn't disappoint here. If you want a very entertaining listen, I would highly recommend Moonlight Weeps: A Dick Moonlight PI Thriller, Book 8.

Moonlight’s cases pop up in the strangest places.

Moonlight Weeps the latest in my Dick Moonlight PI binge reading/listening excursion is the first of the Moonlight books where I wanted so badly to be able to hop into the storyline and give Moonlight an assist. From the start and Dick and Fat Elvis finding the head to the very last page I was fully engaged and entertained. Along with Moonlight’s normal antics, parts of this story could have been plucked from the current headlines of any major newspaper. Once again, I listened to the audiobook version of Moonlight Weeps expertly narrated by Andrew B. Wehrlen. I believe this is my first experience listening to Andrew’s narration, but after looking at the books he has narrated I doubt it will be my last.

Another enjoyable story from this author. This story is complex. There are many lines and ways this can go. Who do you trust? Or believe? I really like Dick Moonlight, local PI and hired driver as needed. This guy grew up in a mortuary and he knows some cool stuff. Then he does some business with a Elvis impersonator and this guy becomes like a sidekick-his really is a great addition to the story. He adds some fun and lightness to an otherwise serious story. It is very twisted and I am surprised at the ending.

I did listen to this on audio. Andrew B Wehrlen is the narrator. Another solid job from him.

Moonlight Weeps (Richard "Dick" Moonlight #6) was a good read by Vincent Zandri. Dick Moonlight is a private detective who has a bullet lodged in his brain. Moonlight is disgusted when he finds out that the brain surgeon who he drives around, is protecting his son from a rape conviction. The charges then turn to "reckless murder" when a state senator's daughter commits suicide. Moonlight finds himself with a fat Elvis impersonator that owes him money. They find themselves stumbling into a bigger plot and they are dodging Hollywood obsessed Russian thugs. I can't wait to read more by Vincent Zandri.

The plot is descriptive, which draws you in. His clients may not have money to pay him. He doesn’t have a girl friend, and bars seem to be his home. A client comes, get his son off, from the charges, then again the father has secrets, Non stop action, the plot flows, another good action story. Can be read as a stand alone.

When the daughter of a politician commits suicide, Moonlight is thrust into the world of drugs. A colorful cast of characters include Russian mobsters, a drug dealing brain surgeon, and a teenager looking for revenge. For additional color, Moonlight enlists the help of an Elvis impersonator. Great fun. I was gifted this from the author.

I enjoyed this story. There's some course language and adult subject matter, but a good story. Definitely some interesting characters. Dick Moonlight is a PI who is a little rough around the edges, but gets the job done. I got a kick out of his Elvis impersonator sidekick. Fast paced and full of action.

They keep getting better. Moonlight is hired to drive and be a bodyguard for a famous brain surgeon. Turns out he is responsible for the death of Detective Miller's wife. His bratty kid is a thug and a drug addict. He gets his Oxy from dear old daddy, and distributes it to the schools. Throw in the Russian mob and there is plenty of action and humor.

Another winner!

Yep, another good one in the saga of what is everything Moonlight. Again Mr. Zandri has penned a twisting tail of Moonlights escapades as a PI . If you are following the series, this one will not disappoint. If you haven't read the previous books, I would say that it is easier to keep up with the characters if you do, even though Mr. Zandri drops clues to help you along if you haven't. I would definitely recommend it either way. All the Moonlight series are exellent.

Dick Moonlight has a new client, and an old heartache in this newest installment of Vincent Zandri’s MOONLIGHT series. Moonlight is a private investigator with a bullet in his brain that threatens to end him at any minute. His new client is a brain surgeon, whose son is accused of ‘reckless murder’ in the suicide of a young woman… the daughter of a State Senator. But, the good doctor has secrets of his own, and Moonlight is left to his own devices as to how to clear the boy, while stopping the doctor’s devious and dangerous plans.

With an ‘Elvis’ impersonator for a sidekick, Russian Mafia bad guys, and double plays from all sides, Moonlight just wants to find the truth.

Zandri has hammered out another solid link in the ‘Moonlight’ chain and this one is the best yet. Characters that smack of authenticity, and a story line that will kick the reader’s backside with humor and bullets, this installment in Zandri’s series is thriller awesomeness. Stunning realism and full of action, “Moonlight Weeps” is a fantastic addition to the already acclaimed works of Vincent Zandri.
If you are a Dick Moonlight follower, you are in for a treat.
And then there is Lola…

This story is a little melodramatic and cliche. It's also obvious that something happened to Moonlight's girlfriend in a previous book of this series. And we're left hanging at the end as regards this girlfriend, but honestly, I don't really care about the girlfriend or their relationship. I'm also not impressed by Elvis and all the movie references. Overall, I'm somewhat disappointed with this story.

Andrew B. Wehrlen has made these characters his own with another satisfactory performance.

OK. Something to read in an afternoon a bit annoying heating about his very cool outfit especially his combat boots. Great for 98 cents. Would read more by author
