Warning: If you like your stories with every twist and turn explained and everything tied up in a bow at the end, Jumper will likely disappoint. Fans of Haruki Murakami and other surreal, magic realism authors may find this short story to their liking.
A town disappears. A new moon rises along with the old one. A woman accidentally remakes the world. Maddie Breslin is a world-class shopper, but a casual purchase delivers an unwelcome power into her hands. Jumper is a perfect lunchtime trip into a spiraling adventure that’s a bit fantasy, a dash magic realism, and a touch surreal.
Alexes Razevich grew up in Orange County, California and San Francisco. She attended California State University San Francisco, earning a degree in creative writing. She is a former editor for Electronic Engineering Times and freelance writer. Her work has appeared in The Easy Reader, (winner, fiction contest) Ceramics Monthly, Rolling Stone, and several electronics industry specific publications.
A Thread, A Stitch, A Jumper! Alexes has once again woven a tale and taken me out of my known world into a world where Maddie with her jewel colored thread knits to create a better life. I was enchanted by her story and happy with the results of her creation. A wonderful short story, that will stay with you for a long time.
Oh Lordy, I really hate to give out two stars however, I really felt gypped by this book and this author. She has some mad skills I'll give her that but this book is not finished. It didn't make any sense it (was like grandma finding a stash of mushrooms then writing a book) If you like airy nonsense or will just read anything then I suppose it's better than I thought. But two stars is very generous for me to give on the story.
I read this short story because I enjoyed Razevich's Ahsinthe Cycle series and enjoyed this story as well. I am looking forward to reading more of her work.
