Love, love, love romance, the paranormal, hunky Highlanders with their delicious brogue and hot kilts, so Terry Spear writes about those hunky Highlanders both in medieval times and as wolves in contemporary times. Jaguar shifters too! And young adult urban fantasy. And romantic suspense.

She grew up reading mystery, adventure, mythologies from around the world, ghost stories, the paranormal, fell in love with Dracula and Wolfman, and felt they needed loving too. Everyone should have someone to love. Which means her stories always have a HEA.

Terry Spear has created a perfectly heartwarming Christmas shifter story with A Very Jaguar Christmas.

Demetria and Everett have been interested in each other for a long while. When they are placed together to protect a shifter child, Corey, their worlds are thrown back together. First, they never knew there was other shifter animals out there. Then to be stuck together, caring for a child, and searching for a new breed of shifter made for fun and highly entertaining reading.

I love the idea that the wolf and jaguar world are starting to come together.

The stunning discoveries, the absolutely adorable Corey and the tender romance made A Very Jaguar Christmas the perfect book to get you into the holiday spirit.

I received this ARC copy of A Very Jaguar Christmas from SOURCEBOOKS Casablanca in exchange for a honest review. This book is set for publication October 18, 2016.

This author is one that seems to always work for me and I had had a blast with her Jaguar series. But this book has a mix of Christmas cheer and bringing the two worlds of Jaguar and Wolf shifters together in a way that I have never imagined from Spear. I have wanted to see this happen, but didn't think that Terry Spear would ever actually do it. So I was delightfully surprised to see an element to the story that I have wanted ever since she started her Wolf and Jaguar books! The romance that develops in this book is a bit of unrequited love. Both Everett and Demetria has had a connection for a long time but never acted on it because Demetria was in a relationship with Everett's best friend Matt. But then he died on a mission and now its been a year and Everett and Demetria are to work together on a mission when they find a arctic wolf cub who is a shifter and try to locate his parents.

There were so many fun elements to this story and one of my favorites was seeing Everett and Demetria really connect together and be together after they have wanted it for so long. They are true mates and seeing them play together, their sexual bond grow and seeing their relationship deepen as they also connect with the four year old boy they are trying to return to his parents. There were quite a few feels that are reached out to the reader and we do get some fun holiday cheer that added a light element to balance out the story. I truly adored seeing this story come together and had some fun dynamics and I am eager to see with this author comes up with next. A story of delight, holiday cheer and romantic charm!!

I have been a fan of Ms. Spear’s shifter series since I first discovered them years and years ago. I don’t have a favorite between the two shifters groups, I love the wolves and the jaguars equally. They are both unique and enjoyable romances with their own interesting story lines.

A Very Jaguar Christmas is a bit different than all of her other books. First off it is number 4.5 in the Heart of the Jaguar series. So I was just as surprised as the characters when a wolf cub showed up at a jaguar daycare center. You see up until now the jaguars and the wolves have been oblivious to each other’s existence in the world.

Demetria MacFarlane and Everett Anderson are given the case to find the pup’s parents and to learn more about these wolf shifters. In doing so they become close to the pup and closer still to each other…

This fun romance is a quick and easy read and I am already looking forward to the next installment of this series…

Ramblings:
I'm calling this novel Crossovers, Cameos, and Cats! It includes cameos from three novels that I know of (Heart of the Wolf, Legend of the White Wolf, and Seduced by the Wolf). The last being my favorite! Not just because it was a great book, but because I love Leidolf Wildhaven who's an alpha "red" wolf. A Very Jaguar Christmas includes spoilers for Cameron and Faith MacPherson. Be forewarned if you haven't read their story in Legend of the White Wolf. Now, why do I keep referring to wolves in a jaguar book? Read on...

Summary:
Everett Anderson has always carried a torch for Demetria MacFarlane. While on a mission to save an at-risk youth, Everett will need to make a decision. Should he make his feelings known, or simply let them go?

Worlds collide in Terry Spear's new novel as jaguar shifters discover wolf shifters. Can cats and wolves play nice and coexist? They may have to! Because this marks the beginning of the United Shifters Force.

Review:
A Very Jaguar Christmas is the fifth installment in the Heart of the Jaguar series by author Terry Spear. It's a story about jaguar shifters discovering the existence of other shifters. The plot weaves an air-of-mystery around you where the reader questions why a lone wolf pup was abandoned. The book is a quest for answers. I loved the special forces groups because they remind me of military black ops, except these agents shift. Overall, it's a sweet Christmas time story with a heroine that's really "catty!"

Favorite scene:
Everett's taking a picture of the northern lights when he spots something in the scenery.

You'll like this story if:
You generally read PNR, especially, those with shifters. It's also for readers who like romance with mystery elements, and the friends-to-lovers trope.

Disclosure:
I purchased the paperback during RWA's 2017 "Readers for Life" Literacy event. Not only did I buy some wonderful books, but I had a chance to meet Ms. Spear. She's not just talented, she's really nice! It was a pleasure to have spoken with her.

What a story! Spear is an author who can make the pages sizzle just as easily as she can draw you into the suspense of the tale that she creates. It is a phenomenal mix that kept me on my toes throughout. The solid mythology and world building that she presents is intensely intricate and draws you into it. I love the mixing of the series & can't wait to see what comes of it and the colliding worlds.

Spear leads the way with some very memorable characters here. Their actions and reactions to the events within the story really serve to solidify the plot. The plot twists kept coming as the characters kept surprising me. On top of that, they're just plain fun individuals. The amount of heart that goes into every aspect of their lives is endearing. Oh, and just FYI. Jaguars in the snow are priceless.

Spear has created a very intricate and intriguing addition to her series that opes up the doors to a whole lot of fun! This is a story that I'd easily recommend to others and that has left me wondering what will happen next.

DNF’d at 22%

I never thought I would be DNFing a Spear’s book. I’ve always enjoyed the stories and romances, but this time it wasn’t clicking for me.

I was not feeling the story, characters, or the case. It felt blaze, predictable, cliche and it wasn’t pulling me in or catching my interest.

I will say the start was dramatic and sad, but after that nothing more for me.

A Very Jaguar Christmas was not the book for me. If the blurb intrigues you, I urge you to give it a shot. Just because it did not work for me does not mean it won’t for you.

I immediately loved this story and the characters in it. Their easy banter and camaraderie was relaxing and fun. Everette and Demetria made the perfect couple and the perfect agents for the Christmas time mission. There wasn’t a lot of action with the mystery, rather it was a sexy, feel-good romance. It flowed nicely and was a perfect book to curl up with.

It's unintentionally that the books I choose to read the last two days both happened during Christmas time. It kind of fit, since here the snow doesn't seem in a hurry to disappear.

Don't know who's prettier on this cover. The guy or the jaguar :p I wanna say that I always liked the name Everett. I always thought it's a cool and pretty name.

One year ago, Everett Anderson and his partner Matt were in Costa Rica to free a little girl who have been kidnapped. The little one was returned safe and sound to her parents but Everett's buddy was shoot by the abductors. Before he died, he made Everett promise to take care of his girlfriend.

Everett has always been in love with Demetria MacFarlane, but she was his friend's sweetheart. His jaguar side wanted to fight for her, but his human side won. After Matt died, he respected his promise and kept an eye on her but he stay away. It was before his boss decided to make changes for the team and he found himself working with her on a case about a teen shifter and his unreliable stepfather. And when Everett's mother calls him for help because someone just dropped a wolf pup shifter into her day care, the new team will start the search (after the shock of learning that werewolves exist) to find out who this boy is and how to return him to his parents.

There were cute moments, like when Everett soothe the little girl in his jaguar form, nuzzling, purring, licking her tears and carrying her on his back. Or when he and Demetria bring the little boy to the zoo. Or when they played in the snow. But the thing is, I expected more from this book. First because we are told the heroine is supposed to be a wild cat with a temper, but she wasn't. I expected sparks, things to be explosive or passionate between her and Everett, but it was more sweet than anything else. And to be honest, their relationship felt to me more like friendship than romance. At the beginning I thought Matt's death would be an obstacle for them and that it would be heartbroken, especially since Everett was already in love with Demetria, but then we learn that she wasn't in love with Matt and that she felt something for Everett and kind of knew he did felt something for her too, so it left me wondering why she was staying with Matt in the first place. I guess she didn't want to ruin the men's friendship, but this part was just too odd for my taste. I haven't read Terry Spear's wolf series yet but I have a feeling the wolves we saw are related to it. And maybe because of that I lacked information but I had a hard time believing that the jaguar shifters didn't know about the wolf shifters existence and that it was such a surprise for them to learn about it and vice versa.

But I like this series because even if there's villains and violence, it's never too graphic nor disturbing or sleazy. And of course, it's always a pleasure to see them in their animal form.

•••••••••••

REVIEW: A VERY JAGUAR CHRISTMAS is the fifth installment in Terry Spear’s contemporary, adult HEART OF THE JAGUAR paranormal, romance series. This is Guardian agent Demetria MacFarlane, and JAG agent Everett Anderson’s story line. A VERY JAGUAR CHRISTMAS can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from previous story lines is revealed where necessary. JAG is the policing arm and special forcers agency of the jaguar shifter community.

Told from dual third person perspectives (Demetria and Everett) A VERY JAGUAR CHRISTMAS follows the building relationship between two jaguar shifters-Demetria MacFarlane, a Guardian agent for the special forces JAG unit; and JAG Golden Claws agent Everett Anderson- a friends to lovers romance that sees Everett falling for his late former partner’s girlfriend. When a young artic wolf shifter is dropped off at the local jaguar daycare Everett and Demetria are assigned to investigate the whereabouts of the child’s parents, and the who, what and why behind his appearance at the shifter daycare.

One year earlier, Demetria’s boyfriend, Matt Bruskrud, was killed while on assignment in the Costa Rican rain forest. Matt’s JAG partner Everett Anderson had always had a ‘crush’ on Demetria but the female jaguar was off limits while Demetria remained in a relationship with Matt. Now partnered together to search for information regarding the foundling wolf cub, Everett begins a slow seduction of the woman that calls to his heart.

A VERY JAGUAR CHRISTMAS merges Terry Spear’s HEART OF THE JAGUAR and HEART OF THE WOLF paranormal series wherein neither species was aware of the other’s existence. With the merger comes the USF-United Shifter Force that will be headed by our leading couple-Demetria and Everett, and badass JAG enforcer Howard Sternum. I am not sure if Terry has planned a spin off series, but I am looking forward to more stories focusing on the newly formed USF.

There is a large ensemble cast of supporting and secondary characters including many of the previous story line couples, and a few cross over characters from Terry’s HEART OF THE WOLF series. We are introduced to JAG enforcer Howard Sternum- a bit of a badass jaguar who is called in when a jaguar has gone rogue or needs to be taken out. And of course Corey’s family of artic wolves whose own story has yet to be told.

A VERY JAGUAR CHRISTMAS is a fast paced, sweet story that focuses on a small artic wolf shifter child named Corey MacPherson who brings together two supernatural species during the Christmas holidays. The premise is heartwarming and magical; the characters are sweet, enthusiastic and animated; the romance is passionate and fated.

Terry Spear is one of my favorite authors and this book is a clear example of why as she flawlessly blends fantasy and reality with two kinds of shifters ~ jaguars, one of my favorite big cats, and wolves. Terry brings together the world of shifters with day to day real life. I love the jaguar series and eagerly look forward to the release of each book. You can easily picture the scenes Terry creates as she draws you into the story.

Everett, a JAG agent, is called to his mom's jaguar day care center because a woman dropped off a child and left. Originally Everett's mom thought the child was human then he shifted into a wolf pup! Everett thought it was a joke because jaguar shifters didn't know there were wolf shifters but he saw it for himself as a young boy shifted into an arctic wolf pup in his arms! The boy was an adorable Arctic wolf. Everett is assigned the task of finding the woman who dropped the boy off then finding the boy's parents. Also assigned to the case is Demetria, a Guardian agent. And that's where Fate plays its hand because Demetria and Everett have always had feelings for each other but when she began dating Everett's best friend, Matt, he backed off. However, Matt was killed on a previous mission with Everett and both he and Demetria have had time to grieve and work through their feelings for each other. As they work closely together along with another agent, Howard, to find the pup's family, they have time to see where those feelings will take them.

This case has Everett and Demetria working with wolves who are also surprised to find out that jaguar shifters exist. The pup finally shifts into a boy whose name is Corey and stays that way. Everett and Demetria are taking care of Corey as the case takes them into new places and discovering new things. Everett is then asked to head a new unit whose mission is to deal with rogue shifters of all kinds. He asks Demetria and Howard to join the team. On a personal note, Everett's and Demetria's relationship blossoms as they discover that they were meant to be together.

JAG Golden Claw agent Everett Anderson promised his dying partner, Matt, he'd take care of his girl, JAG Guardian agent Demetria MacFarlane, if Matt didn't come home alive from their mission. Matt didn't make it and Everett kept up with Demetria through her best friend, his sister. As part of interagency training and cooperation a year later, Demetria and Everett are assigned to the same case.

Quickly resolving the neglected teen case, Everett tries to think of ways he can work and socialize with Demetria more and an opportunity arises when a wolf cub is dropped off at a local daycare. Working together, chasing clues, taking care of a cub and being with family works for Everett and Demetria. They get closer and look at each other as mates. But things are seldom as easy as they look.

As a fan of the author's shifter series, this reader was disappointed in this outing. While both Everett and Demetria were okay, there was really good crossover and mentions, and the read was holiday light with an interesting plot, the writing wasn't as strong as the other series reads with too much repetition as if more editing was needed.

Terry Spear delivered another fantastic book in her Heart Of The Jaguar series. Two worlds collide with this one and I absolutely loved every heart warming minute of it.

Up until now the Jaguars and the Wolves have been oblivious to each other's existence. That all ends when an adorable wolf pup makes an unexpected holiday arrival at a Jaguar daycare. At first the Jaguars are surprised and then begins the mission to reunite the pup with his family. Everett Anderson and Demetria MacFarlane work together to piece together a mystery and make the first contact between the Jaguars and Wolves. Everett and Demetria already have a connection and were drawn even more closer as they work and travel together and got to know each other better.

A Very Jaguar Christmas is a heartfelt and entertaining read that had my attention from beginning to end. I loved this book and how Terry Spear brought two of my favorite worlds together so seamlessly. This is a five star book that gets my highest recommendation.

My thanks to the publisher for gifting me with an ARC of this book.

I really liked this one. It was a bit of a change of pace and not as suspenseful as most of the books I've read by this author but that didn't change how much I enjoyed it! Demetria and Everett have avoided each other since her boyfriend/his best friend was killed in the field. I liked that it wasn't an instant, I have to be with you now thing, but something that they had both always felt.
The finding out about wolf shifters was a shock to say the least but I liked how most all of the Jaguar shifters handled it. The kids playing together was adorable! Everett's family was great, I liked seeing the couples together, especially knowing how each of them got together. It is great to catch up a little bit. I cannot wait to see what happens with the new branch of this agency and what crazy adventures it sends some of the hot agents on!
4/5 for me. Really a feel good Christmas book!

I was told I could read this one without reading the others - I'm going to go on a limb and say that is incorrect. I struggled to connect with the H & h throughout the course of this book - and i didn't feel the steamy connection I normally get when reading PNR, especially shifter books, it lacked that animal magnetism for me. So much so, it reads more like a mystery than a paranormal romance.

I did appreciate the added wolf twist and liked how she merged two series the way she did, and opened the door for a spin off maybe.

I'm not going to rate this one because I DNF'ed around 80% as I lost interest - it will need to go back on my self in case I pick this author up again.

Nice, fun read! Very nice tie-in to her wolves series. I would recommend reading the Legend of White Wolf book from the Heart of the Wolf series as that deals with Corey's parents. Sorry i can't remember which book is the first time we met his associates and Lei. Short talk about SEAL wolves series. Can't remember where the Dr. falls in what series/book.

A great paranormal holiday romance that I added to my favorites. It had lots of fast paced exciting action incorporating holiday activities. Both hero and heroine were eager for relationship. A good plot with a cute little character and a heart-warming ending. Jaguar-human agents Demetria and Everett are assigned together to a case involving a little cub.

I was not familiar with this series, world or author that much when I received an ARC of this novel, but I really loved the world that Terry Spear's has built. Our characters have a very well established society for Jaguar shifters that has proved successful over the years. Demetria and Everett both have roles within various departments of their society and have been circling each other for many years. Now, when a wolf shifter cub is dumped on them, who knew that wolf shifters even existed? They must work together to try to figure out where the cubs parents are and how to get him back to them.

This unexpected situation throws them together during the holidays and now they must deal with their issues. Conveniently, they're also building contacts to be used for a new division that deals with other organizations and unexpected shifter communities. This cute cub will force more cooperation then anyone ever expected!

This story is sweet and steamy all in one. The sweet part is all that agents Demetria and Everett go through to protect a wolf cub and find his family. This wolf cub is left at Everett's mother's daycare and what a surprise he was. No other shifters were known to these jaguar shifters. The chemistry between Demetria and Everett explodes during their mission. Now that the wolves and jaguars know about each, they work together to find the cub's family. It's a great love story to read during the holidays.

Everett Anderson and Demetria must work together to find a missing child, will they uncover their feelings towards each other along the way?

Years ago Demetria lost a man she thought she was meant to be with, now will she be able to find her mate? What will happen when Everett can't sit quiet about his feelings?

Spend the holidays with jaguars, white wolves, and discover the meaning of family in this paranormal shifter romance.

Both are jaguar agents, he's desired her for a long time but his friend was dating her first. After he dies on a mission Everett tries to give Demetria space to heal. Thrown together on a joint mission these two come together, while trying to return a wolf pup to his family. It's a little cheesey at times and realism it glossed over but it is a holiday story. Appears Spear is merging her wolf and jaguar series or at least is going to over lap them in the future.
