An Unexpected Wife

Rate this book
After moving away for college, Sage Worthington settled down to a job in the city and only comes back to her parents’ ranch for weekends and holidays. After receiving a call that will change her life forever, she rushes back to the place she always thought of as home and to the two little siblings whom she loves dearly. This is where she is needed, and this is where she wants to be. Clifton Welsh was raised by his grandparents who have retired to a smaller house built for them on their favourite patch of the family land, close enough that they can keep an eye on their pride and joy. Grandpa turned the ranch over to Cliff to run but that doesn’t mean his feisty grandma trusts him to run his own love life. The rancher has been Sage’s next door neighbour for as long as he can remember.Cliff remembers Sage as a pesky teenager who needed a good spanking. Now that she's back, he sees her as a beautiful twenty-four-year-old who still needs a good spanking. Sage needs a husband and she needs him fast, before she loses custody of her younger brother and sister. Cliff is determined to use any means necessary to stop her from doing something rash and dangerous. He is even willing to marry her himself – but is Sage ready to commit to an old-fashioned man who spanks? This book contains the spanking of adult women and other sexual content.

Sage Worthington returns from the city to the family ranch after her parents death. She plans to live on the ranch and raise her two young siblings, BUT her parents' Will gets in her way. Her parents left the young siblings to her aunt, unless Sage was married. Also, the ranch is close to foreclosure by the bank.

Clifton Welsh was raised on the neighboring ranch and watched out for Sage as she grew up. He is a few years older and has made his grandfather's ranch even more successful. Since her parents' death, he has been checking on Sage and the kids and helping as much as possible. He would be the perfect husband, but Sage doesn't want to force him into marriage.

While Cliff is away on a cattle trading trip, Sage puts an AD in the newspaper for a husband needed in a hurry. When he returns, his grandfather puts the newspaper in front on his face. Cliff is at Sage's husband as fast his truck would take him. They agree to marry.

Clifton plans to be head of his house and to be married to Sage forever. But Sage needs soon courting and taming.

Fun read with lots of heart.

This review is for the Audible edition

The story was a good one, if a bit weak. Sage is just a little too immature for me most of the time. There just wasn't enough time for their love to be believable for me either. There were a couple of pretty good spanking scenes and humorous moments.

While I thought that the narrator did a good job of giving each character a voice, he could have done better with showing emotions. It was a little too monotone.

THE DIFFERENCE WILL BE THAT THIS IS LIKE A RENT-TO-OWN ARRANGEMENT

I enjoyed this emotional story that because of extenuating circumstances, two neighbors will come together in an act of desperation to keep a young family together. Sage Worthington was an only child until she was fifteen years old, then her brother Bailey was born and a couple of years later a sister, Netty. At twenty-four years old, Sage is on her own, out of college and holds a job in the city, but one accident takes the life of her and her sibling's parents, bringing her back home to the ranch. Neighboring rancher, Clifton Welsh has been raised by his grandparents since he was young. He is older than Sage at always saw her as a pesky bratty teenage girl.

The plot has three siblings grieving over the death of their parents, the reading of the will that leaves Sage shocked and a mountain of debts for the ranch. To keep her siblings, she must marry or wait until she is thirty years old. To save the ranch, she needs someone who can help with the ranch and to start making a profit. Desperation can lead to crazy schemes. Is Clifton the answer to her problems so she can keep her siblings and make something out of the ranch? Will he be willing to help and keep it as an in-name-only relationship? Sometimes meddling older people are wise in their actions and deeds, and maybe this young family will get their happily-ever-after ending. There is a great cast of characters and entertaining interaction. There is plenty of angst and discipline along with tender heartwarming moments and sex scenes.

I’ve read a few of Masters books in the past, and have enjoyed them all. This book was no exception.

The blurb really does sum up exactly what the book is about – Sage needs a husband and so Cliff is willing to “bite the bullet” and help her out in that matter. But is Sage willing to accept Cliff’s terms?

Throughout the book, there was sadness, happiness, joy, laughter, everything that I have come to expect in a Masters book.

Sage and Cliff were both characters that were easy to connect with and enjoy. The chemistry between them was off the charts, and Masters did a great job at making the story about the two of them learning and accepting each other.

Overall, I really enjoyed this story and I can’t wait to read more from Masters in the future.

I loved this book! After losing her parents in an accident Sage, although young, is trying to take over parenting her younger brother and sister. Her neighbor and old time friend Cliff has feelings and wants to take care of not only Sage but Nettie and Bailey. I enjoyed watching this love story develop. It was well written that has a realistic situation along with realistic characters. The author includes a lot of emotions and love, spankings, and wonderful sex scenes. Overall I love this book and highly recommend reading this story! Hope you enjoy as much as I did!!

I enjoyed this emotional, yet humorous story about Sage, a young woman who lost both parents and wants desperately to care for her young siblings, and Cliff, her neighbor who wants to help her and falls for her in the process. Sage is understandably in emotional turmoil after the death of her parents and not making the best decisions. Luckily, Cliff is happy to provide the corporal punishment she needs to refocus. The plot was interesting, the characters and their interactions were heartwarming, and the book left me with a smile on my face. Overall a great read you won't want to miss.

What a sweet romance. Cliff is a rancher that has always loved Sage. Sage just recently
lost her parents and needs to hold it together for her brother and sister. I liked that Cliff
was so caring and willing to do whatever it took to keep Sage and the kids protected and loved.
There was mild DD when Sage acts out and loses her temper. There are some sexual scenes but not
overly graphic. Overall a sweet read.

Marriage of convenience turns to love. This has a good story line and fully thought out characters. An immature woman matures quickly with the help of her alpha husband who uses domestic discipline, hot sex, love and fun spankings to help his wife learn to grow and mature and love. Great quick read.

A cute and romantic marriage of convenience story where Sage (I love her name by the way) overcomes the death her parents and takes on the responsibility of raising her siblings. She finds that she has to grow up fast, and Clint is all too happy to make sure she doesn’t lose the kids. With a few quick lessons over his lap, she becomes a more responsible guardian.

This book was just ok. I did tear up at some moments. but it seemed rushed. I think the author cold have left out some details on some areas and added in other areas.
