This comprehensive textbook covers all aspects of carpentry, from the foundation of the building to the ridge. Material is presented in a logical, step-by-step format, allowing students to follow the order of construction of a typical wood-frame building. Many major new developments in the area of construction are thoroughy discussed. New methods of rating man-made panels for structural purposes by the American Plywood Association, energy conservation techniques, all-weather wood foundations and the use of Trus Joists are also covered. Nearly 1300 illustrations in two-colour format, 350 unit end review questions, and "tricks-of-the-trade" practical points from the author's thirty years experience.
This covers it, from cutting down the tree to finishing the wood floors. If it involves wood construction you'll learn it here. I believe this book is out of print, which is a shame. It is a thorough text and one of the few I could find on the trade. In the age of YouTube DIY (which I'm all for) it is a rare commodity to have a resource that is neither edutainment nor a too brief summary of the best case scenario for the work you'd like to do. This is a serious book for men and women who take pride in their work.
