Making Me Sane

Rate this book
He was my boyfriend. My rock. The love of my life.

She was my girlfriend. My love. My everything.

He abandoned me.

I walked away.

I hate him, but I love him.

I love her and have nothing but regret for letting her go.

He caused me so much pain; I just can't trust him.

I can't live without her. I will earn back her trust.

He's drawing me in but should I stay?

I'll fight for her with everything I have.

Is there a chance we can go from driving each other mad to making each other sane?

I could not wait for this book to come out. After I finished the first book, Driving Me Mad, I was literally sitting there just staring at my iPad wondering how Lindsay Paige could leave us hanging like that. Seriously, talking about being driven crazy. Anyways, when I found out this book was ready, I had to read it. If you have not read the first book stop reading now because there will be spoilers and you have to read the first book to understand the second one.

So we left off with Trace breaking up with Brittany and her totally losing it. This book picks up about a year later. Brittany has graduated and has a job. She is trying to get her life in order but is still having issues. Trace has changed jobs and really seems to have worked out the majority of his issues and is trying to win Brittany back. I am very conflicted on Trace. I understand why he had to leave Brittany and get help for himself. At the same time, he should have realized what he was doing when he did that and the ramifications of basically tearing Britt apart. They really did feed into each others anxiety and depression and were very bad for each other. Brittany, for obvious reasons, does not want to have anything to do with Trace. Brittany still has a lot going on in her life and is still not coping very well.

I can honestly say that my anxiety started right back up as soon as I started this book. Lindsay does a great job of making you feel what the characters are feeling. I normally try to stay away from books that could be real life situations, I really love this one.

I am giving this book 4.6 stars out of 5. Go get this series and be prepared for an anxiety filled weekend!

Thank you Lindsay for the opportunity to read this ARC for my honest review.

Lindsay’s books for me are all about the characters. I’m always drawn into the characters and end up falling in love with them. The characters are always one of if not the most important thing about a book for me. My favorite books are always the ones where I feel like the characters are friends. Then when I come to a second book I feel like I’m catching up with an old friend. Lindsay’s characters are like that for me.

So while this book is about a sad and depressing subject, I enjoy the characters. There is also a happy ending to this book. The whole book is about the character’s struggle to manage their depression and anxiety to the point they’re able to live a happy life. In the end, they get that.

This book picks up one year later from where Driving Me Mad left off and Trace is trying to win Brittany back. He comes up with some clever ideas - much better than the dates and sweet things to do I could think of. Brittany’s heart betrays her brain and she finds herself turning to Trace for comfort several times.

I absolutely loved the ending! In an effort to prevent spoilers, I will just say that it contained two things I love in a book. I also appreciated the fact that we got a full epilogue at the end of the book. A lot a books give you short little epilogue that leave you with more questions. Not this one.

If the depression and anxiety don't hit too close to home for you and you like romance, I definitely recommend this book!

DISCLAIMER: I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for honest review.

So, after reading the first book (Driving Me Mad) I was not ready for the story to end. I have one question: Why do most relationships in books, when broken off, take a year to get things going again? I mean, only when the characters are meant to be together. A year to move on, a year of separation. Hmm, I guess it just works out that way.

Brittany has moved on. Trace left her. He outright left her when she needed him most. He didn't give her a reason, except that he felt they were making each other worse. Now he wants Britt back.

This is such a great book! I love how the author took a sensitive subject and how she brought it to life. Every time Britt had a bad day, I felt it. I had my theories of what might take place and then I was kind of right, and then kind of wrong. But I loved it so much. The turnout was fantastic; writing is great. Story brought to life and would likely make a great movie. ♥

Making Me Sane, is Book 2 of Lindsay Paige's Sanity series and continues after Book 1 (Driving Me Mad). In this book, Trace is working hard to regain Brittany's trust and love and Brittany is working to cope with her anxiety and depression and is deciding whether to trust Trace again. Will Trace win her back?

Again, what strikes me the most of Lindsay Paige's delicate detail and compassion in weaving this story around mental health. This novel offers a very realistic look into how mental health not only impacts a person's life, but also impacts the lives of the others. Lindsay does an amazing job of describing the vulnerable, rarely seen parts of mental health issues. Her characters' struggle was written beautifully in this novel.

Lindsay's Sanity series was an amazing read! I highly recommend this series. I think that readers will love her raw emotional deliverance of the complexities of mental health and love.
