"Charlie, your jockey shorts are in my bureau drawer next to my panties. What do you have to say for yourself?"
"They look kind of cute together, don't they?" With his hands on her hips he pulled her across the desk and into his lap, along with assorted papers and the telephone wire. Against her lips he said, "I always knew my shorts belonged next to your panties."
"Makin' Whoopee" is the story of Sara and Charlie.
The book has business partners finally acknowledging their feelings for each others. For two years, the hero has teased the heroine, and she has longed for him- while both dated other people. Things take a turn when their emotions get too strong to deny.
I think the highlight of this book is the super charming, hilarious and high on life hero. He totally made me (and the heroine) laugh and chuckle throughout, and it was so refreshing to read a non- brooding and non- arrogant lead. The heroine was confused, smitten and strong.
The hero definitely stole the book, and even though the story is pretty average, I'd rate it purely for him. There is some baby related angst in the last half, but it all ends in a HEA.
"Charlie, I know this may seem like a stupid question, but did you just hit me with a dinner roll?"
"It was probably a poltergeist," he said, glancing around the room nervously. "I've always thought there was something strange about this house."
