Misty Grove #1

Fighting Chance

Rate this book
One small town.
One dead sheriff.
A town with secrets.

Newly appointed sheriff Trent Stone is investigating the murder of his predecessor. This leads him to Misty Grove, a town lined with innocent diners and general stores, but his gut instinct tells him that nothing is what it seems.

It doesn’t help that his first encounter with one of its citizens is at the end of her shotgun.

A beautiful hellion.

Cassandra Reed is unlike any woman he has ever met. She’s tough and sassy, yet her eyes hold a vulnerability that calls to his protective side. Trent’s dedication to his job has always caused the demise of his previous relationships, so what is it about Cassie now that compels him to risk it all, especially when she has made it clear she doesn’t need his protection?

When Cassie brushes off injuries from a suspicious incident, Trent’s need to serve and protect deepens into an alarming obsession over a woman who challenges his every instinct of self-preservation. Staying away from her is not an option, and he will be damned if he lets Cassie deny the growing attraction between them.

But when the town’s secrets are revealed, he discovers he’s in over his head. As a mere sheriff, the menace that looms over Misty Grove is way above his pay grade. Before the threat can rip away the woman who has come to mean everything to him, Trent will have to make a tough decision. One that will give him and Cassie a fighting chance at a future together.

*Strong sexual content and language. Can be read as a standalone, but may leave questions about secondary characters who will become the protagonists in upcoming books.

Possessive and bossy…NICE!!

I really enjoyed Fighting Chance. This review is going to be extremely short (for me) because I really think this story will be enjoyed more knowing as little as possible. I will say, though, I was completely confused at the beginning. Trying to work out who was who, what they do, what they are and how they do it, was really tricky. I had no idea until it was completely laid out for me. Eventually, everything is explained and I settled into another action packed Victoria Paige adventure.

The characters are awesome. The hero, Trent Stone, is the newly appointed sheriff and his role is going to be far from straightforward. Within days he realises that the little town he is sent to is hiding secrets and he’ll need all of his prior training to get to the heart of the problem. Talking about hearts…his has been stolen by the woman holding a shotgun to his head.

Cassandra Reed, her twin brother, family and town have a HUGE secret. When the new sheriff hits town it seems that their secret may not be kept for long from him. It doesn’t take long for them to realise that he’s no ordinary sheriff. Cassie is a strong-willed, determined and stubborn woman who knows how to handle herself. She is very attracted to Trent but knows it’s her job to push him away.

Fighting Chance is full of action, conflict, suspense and a whole lot of sexual tension. When Cassie and Trent finally come together it’s explosive.

I started and finished this story in one day. It was riveting and I was sucked in from the very first page. A few of the characters from Victoria Paige's previous books are mentioned and it gave me a buzz to see and hear about them again. Fighting Chance is the first story in the Misty Grove series and I will definitely be coming back for more.

I love me a good romantic suspense that keeps me guessing. Add to this a hot, possessive alpha male, a strong, badass heroine that can handle herself with not a single TSTL moment in sight, a fab set of side characters that I can't wait to read more about and ..... I'm in R/S nirvana.

I absolutely love the way Ms Paige writes her characters, especially her alpha males. Trent came very close to toppling MY Travis off his pedestal, and that took some doing :D

This is a brilliant start to a new series based in a small town and I can't wait to see the series build. There's a strong suspense story running through this book that gets tied up by the end although left open for side characters to get their stories.

And that's all you're getting from me so I'm not going to give anything away.

“Don’t you know I need you to breathe?”

When sheriff Trent Stone’s investigation into his predecessor’s murder leads him to small town Misty Grove, he quickly learns that nothing is what it seems.

And his first encounter with Cassandra Reed isn’t what he expected either, not the shotgun in his face, or his immediate attraction to the beautiful spitfire. She’s unlike the women he’s usually attracted to, she’s tough and fearless, and the vulnerability in her eyes, makes it difficult to act professional, when all he wants to do is risk everything to protect her, to make her his.

When Cassie is hurt from a suspicious incident, Trent is determined to keep her safe, and to have her admit to the attraction that burns between them. But Cassie and the town are keeping secrets, secrets that threaten to take Cassie away from him. And Trent will have to decide how far he is willing to go down the rabbit hole to have the future he wants with Cassie.

His survival instincts were telling him to stay away from her, and yet every other cell in his body yearned to see her again.
He was fucked.

I freaking loved Trent and how protective and possessive he was over Cassie. I loved how bossy he was, and how she made him lose control and act like a caveman :-D He was so damn sexy!

Cassie has had a tough life, one that made it difficult for her to be normal, to be herself with others, especially with men. In Misty Town she had built a life surrounded by people who understood her, who were like her. But a relationship has never been in her plans, until she met Trent. No matter how hard she tried to push him away, he kept breaking down the walls she has built, proving that he accepted her for who she was.

”I love you so much, Cassie. I have this need to keep you safe, to be with you every minute of the day.” He lowered his voice. “This need to be inside you every second. It’s an obsession out of control and I don’t give a fuck.”

The chemistry between Trent and Cassie was intense, and I loved that Trent was instantly attracted to Cassie. He was determined to make her his, and he never gave up, and I love a man who knows what he wants and goes after it. The sexy times were scorching, especially with Trent’s dirty talk ;-) And I loved the wonderful epilogue the author wrote. Their HEA was fantastic!

I loved the secrecy and mystery regarding the town and what exactly Cassie, her brother and the others were. The plot was suspenseful and intriguing and I loved all the action. I really hope there will be more books in this series, as there are many characters that I want to know what happens to.

This was my first book by this author, and it will definitely not be my last. It’s rare to find a romantic suspense where the balance between the romance and suspense is perfect and kudos to the author for getting it right. A definitely must read for all RS fans.

Here's my reivew:
4.5 stars:
My birthday came a couple of weeks early! Great consolation (boo to birthdays! Yay to a great rom-suspense book).
Wow did this keep me on the edge of my seat! Whew!
This is 3rd person POV. There's a little prologue(set a few years prior) that really sets up the entire story. The story begins in present day, small town Georgia.
There are a LOT of characters. I really had to pay attention. Some played a huge role in the story. The heroine is a bad ass -that you could actually love. The Hero is very strong-alpha and KNOWS what he wants!

Trent to Cassie: "... The brilliance of your smile and that twinkle in your eye are enough to nourish my jaded soul. Whenever you leap into my arms after a long day at work, you wash away the weariness of the day. And my heart, God, my heart Cassie, it's so full to bursting because it knows you're my woman. You make me happy just being you." *sigh*

The heroine has some mystery about her. What is she up to? Who are the bad guys?
The Hero has some street smarts and knows how to use them.
I'm being vague-I don't like to give spoilers, so don't ask me.
I will say no cheating. There's a great love story in the chaos.
I mentioned the ## of characters. I thought that it was a little too many for me to remember. The big focus is the Hero & heroine- of course.
There's some violence-- and the Hero goes all out to protect the heroine.
I loved the epilogue. This hero and heroine were so compatible throughout the story. No push-pull crap. The romance was there -just being in the same room.
Great HEA. I'm ready for book 2. ARC copy from author. My review is my opinion.
PS: Wait! I should mention that I've read & loved Ms Paige's Guardian & Always series. All with swoony Hs and bad ass heroines (to some degree).

This author's romance and suspense always keeps me wanting more!
4 1/2 stars

Victoria Paige's first book in her new Misty Gove series, "Fighting Chance”, has all the elements that keep me reading her stories. There is plenty of action, romance, mystery, strong characters, and complicated plots and twists that kept me guessing. It has all the things I loved about her Guardians and Always series. There are erotic love scenes, an ultra protective and possessive alpha male, and a very strong, unique heroine.

Trent is an undercover sheriff who comes to a small town in Georgia to investigate the suspicious death of his predecessor. When he meets the mysterious Cassie, he can tell she is holding back secrets that he is compelled to investigate. He senses that Cassie is secretly involved in a whole lot more than ranching. There is an instant attraction that later develops into love even though both are reluctant to admit it too quickly.

I really liked watching this couple learn to trust one another despite their secrets. The strong heroine had moments of vulnerability. Trent could be dominant but gentle and sweet when she needed it. There were plenty of steamy moments and erotic loveplay between the couple. Cassie was a different type of heroine with her unusual secret occupation. It was interesting that this alpha fell for a tough chick that wasn't necessarily his usual feminine type. Trent knew when to back off and when to push when she was stubborn or afraid of her feelings. He calmed her fears when she felt insecure about being different.

I love going on one of Victoria Paige’s adventures. There are always government secrets and secret agents as well as scientists or dark characters who become so obsessed or empowered that they have lost their sense of reality and morality. Trent has Cassie’s back every time when things get dicey. They support one another even while trying to meet their own agendas. I always enjoy the author’s strong couples and how their journey turns into a wonderful commitment of the heart.

There are a lot of characters and plots to keep up with in this story, so you have to pay close attention to where things are going. The complicated storyline is intriguing, but it is the love story of this couple along the way that is so satisfying by the end. They really are meant for one another. I did not guess the final revelation of the identity of the real enemy at the end of the story. I like it when that happens. I was happy that there were no major triggers or separations with this couple that would pull me out of the story. Sometimes you just want a romantic suspense without any major distractions from other people interfering with the main couple's growing relationship.

I enjoyed the crossover connections from the author’s other books that popped up in this story. That makes it fun for those who have read the author’s other series. The epilogue had some cute scenes and a nice view down the road. I am looking forward to the next book couple in this series! Keep them coming Ms. Paige!

Fighting Chance wasn’t at all what I was expecting it to be. It’s one of those books that is hard to review without giving anything away. I will say that “small town romance” made me think this was going to be a simple contemporary romance maybe featuring a jealous old boyfriend or stalker or something similar. Being familiar with this author's previous books, I should have known better!

Trent Painter is brought in to figure out what's going on in the small town of Misty Grove. Everyone seems to be keeping secrets and the Sheriffs job is to figure out what’s going on. That’s made more difficult (and interesting) by his budding relationship with the heroine, Cassie, who seems to be in the middle of it all.

The story was filled with intrigue, suspense, and had twists and surprises throughout… The writing was solid and the chemistry between the characters added a lot to the story. I liked that our hero fell pretty quickly and even though he was put in a tough spot more than once because of his involvement with the heroine, he always stays committed to protecting her.

Overall, this was a solid romantic suspense story with a unique plot line. I liked both characters and found the writing very readable. I’m definitely looking forward to reading what’s next in this series. There’s no telling what the author may throw at us next!

Very intense

I am torn between three and four stars. I did get a little bored or distracted around the 40% mark and had a hard time staying invested. So much is going on and it was such chaos. And death and fighting and evil. Not to mention all the characters. This was book 1 but I felt I missed out on something maybe there was a prior series? I don't know. I do know that I loved the sheriff Trent. He was a great hero. He truly loved Cassie. And the intimate scenes were okay and not too raunchy, but they were a little bit crude in places. That's just me. And just when you thought all the bad stuff was behind them, out popped more. It was nonstop action. Seriously. I didn't really get the super human vibe from the characters. But it was there. Most of them were expired already. I guess the super strength had a shelf life but I was a little confused as I said with some of it. While there were a lot of characters, they definitely were very well delineated and memorable. I liked that. And I will definitely read more in this series.

Received an arc from author for honest review

I have read every book by Victoria Paige and I have loved every one of them. She is an auto buy author for me. I would literally read anything by her. They are always action packed, but the romance is always the main part.

Fighting Chance is no different. It is a perfect balance of romance and action. One of the things that I hate in a book is when Heroine make stupid assumptions about what Hero did and doesn't give him the chance to explain, but that doesn’t happen in this one. Cassie might be my favorite Heroine of all time. She smart and vulnerable and can kick anyone ass. I usually love the hero but Cassie is something special. Trent is a perfect guy for Cassie. He is the perfect balance of alpha male and sweet. Yes I said sweet. I loved that he knew when to give Cassie her space and let her do her own thing and when to push her.

The secondary characters are amazing, because the whole town

I meant to write a full review earlier (before the book was released) but things were crazy in my house with both my kids sick and then me ending up with tonsillitis. Good times :/

I can't actually go into too much detail otherwise I'd give too much away. Needless to say, I went in blind (which I don't normally do, but I truly enjoy this author's writing)...and loved every second! The heroine reminds me a lot of the heroine in Fire and Ice, which is still one of my favourite books :) I like how VP writes her characters. I like how strong and kick-arse she writes her heroines without them coming off as bitchy or shrew-like. I also like how possessive and over-protective her heroes are (especially in this book and Fire and Ice) without them being super-dickheads!

Although this is classed as romantic-suspense (which it is), there was enough of the relationship/romance part of it to satisfy me. Although the suspense is a big part of the story, so was Trent and Cassie's relationship and I liked how it all played out. Cassie was hesitant at first - for reasons that become obvious once you understand her background, but Trent pretty much won her over from the start and there was no push-pull bullshit going on either which I appreciated.

My only reason for not rating it 5 stars was that there was a lot going on and it was kind of hard to keep up with all the characters and where they're at, but there really was a lot of stuff going on and we needed to know who was who and where everyone fits in. But I had to re-read some parts because I got lost a couple of times. However, I still loved it and this is an awesome start to a new series I'm really looking forward to reading more of :)

Dnf at 35%. The plot is too scattered and the H and h are too antagonistic. He's an ass, she gets bitchy, they kiss and get hot and heavy, then they both say something bitchy and storm off in opposite directions. That is not romantic. It is not sexy. It makes them both look like children who need to grow the hell up and get a clue. Throw in an ex assissin town, supersoldier powers, an h who is an illegal fighter, and a too-large cast of characters, and I'm done.

3.5 “Full-on Kick-ass Action” Stars

Fighting Chance is the beginning of a new series by Ms. Paige, whose capacity of giving us full-on action and suspense expertly mixed with hot possessive romance and fantastic banter is legendary. Or at least it is in my experience.

Trent is set as acting sheriff and sent to investigate the demise of the previous one. What he believed would be a somewhat clean cut situation rapidly changes when he meets Cassie, one of Misty Groves’ inhabitants. While being on the wrong end of a shotgun has never been what he considered sexy, he can’t deny that the sassy woman aiming it at him now has his sparked his attention. Unfortunately for him, Cassie is not your run of the mill ranch woman, and soon her secrets and those of the town start to weave a complicated web around the job he was sent to do.

Cassie has learnt to keep her distance from outsiders. Her family and those in her small town have enough worries on their own to bring more people into it. Unfortunately for her, when the new sheriff sets his sights on her, there’s not all that much she can do about it. And when suspicious and dangerous things seem to start focusing on her, Trent’s protective possessiveness kicks into high gear.

“In case I didn’t make myself clear, hellcat, after the shit that went down today.” Trent gave her a long look before continuing. “You’re mine.”

Trent was the epitome of alpha male: kick ass, bossy and totally hot. He decided Cassie was special early on, and nothing would keep him away from her or claiming her as his own, not even Cassie’s bullheadedness.

“You’re possessive, overly protective, and have a hell of a dominant streak. You’ve got a temper, and I seem to be the fuse that sets it off. We clash often because I’m stubborn, and as you know, I have a problem with authority. Yet you accept me as I am. It goes both ways. Don’t be afraid of showing me who you are.”

Cassie’s reticence stemmed from the way she grew up, and what she was made to become early on in life. Although decided to have somewhat of a normal life, there are certain things you just can’t ignore. Especially when your past keeps coming to fuck with your present. The fact that she was totally bad-ass and could kick serious butt was a cherry on top of a very protective, loyal and (deep down) caring woman.

While I found the action, suspense and intrigue to be spot on and it kept me turning the pages, their insta-attraction didn’t quite click for me. And though I liked them as a couple and how their relationship unfolded I was never totally sold on the idea. So, whereas the hotness level of their sextivities was off the charts, a tiny part of me never fully engaged.

“I need more privacy than a wall when I fuck you, and I’d prefer your moans of pleasure would be solely for my ears. I’m possessive like that.”

Fighting Chance was an excellent beginning to this new series, and I love how Ms. Paige got to intertwine characters from her previous series, especially The Admiral, which is quite frankly the most intriguing mofo ever written. I can’t wait to get to read the stories of all these new and exciting characters from small Misty Grove.

Interesting start, bad ending. Genetic breeding program results in twins. The h, twin brother and a raft of characters live in a sort of designer town for retired assassins. Newly appointed sheriff is the H, and we are told he is dominant in bedroom. It just didn't work with way too much telling, pages of conversation, pages of back story, huge number of characters and I lost count of the number of times the h was kidnapped, the H got got carpeted by admirals and various agency chiefs. An undisciplined book that could have been good.

I really liked Trent, “good?” Trent murmured . “You’re not in pain, are you? I rode you hard last night.” The gleam in his eyes was a mixture of concern and possessiveness." I really loved how much Cassie had affected Trent's body, “hmm... pancakes and sausage.” Arms circled his torso as soft breasts pressed against his back . His **** jerked happily as if Trent had not worn that effer out." I loved this book, Trent and Cassie fit perfectly together.

Constant action, suspense, dark secrets and a steamy romance…

This is the first book in the Misty Grove series that can be read as a stand-alone.

Sheriff Trent Stone’s first case is solving his predecessor’s murder as he deals with the normal criminal happenings in the towns he oversees. The town of Misty Grove, Georgia being under his jurisdiction is for all outward appearances a normal enough small town but Trent’s observations and his instincts say that something is amiss. This small town holds long standing dark secrets, its residents are not ones to cross, better to have them as allies than as enemies. The first citizen Trent meets blows his mind, she’s gorgeous, sexy and sassy and points a shotgun at him. It’s been a while since a woman really intrigued him and the challenge she makes entices him, the chemistry between them noted. But he’ll have his work cut out for him to get her to agree to let him help with subsequent happenings and give him a chance with her on a personal level, he’s a persistent man when he wants something.

Cassandra Reed doesn’t take kindly to uninvited guests on the property she lives on and has no qualms about holding a shotgun to those who trespass and that includes the new sheriff. Yes, he’s exceedingly good looking and she finds herself a bit tongue-tied around him which is a definite surprise. She won’t answer questions to his satisfaction and she doesn’t do relationships though he tempts her in ways no one else has. Perhaps this time things might work out differently with a man but then she remembers who she is and the secrets she keeps and knows it’s not possible. There is no denying the desire she feels and some things are inevitable but she’ll hold him off as long as she can.

As a lover of romantic suspense I have found I can count on a Victoria Paige book not to disappoint and fill the need this reader has for this genre, this book really satisfied this reader's cravings. It’s filled with constant action and suspense and an intricate involved storyline with a smattering of science fiction to liven up the mix which had many surprising twists and turns, there are classified secrets, numerous conspiracies and manipulations, plus government intrusions to navigate.

The romance between the protagonists was steamy, their chemistry leaps off the page when they are together and though the storyline is fast-paced they find time to make a serious soul deep, not just a physical, connection. I loved the heroine, besides spunky she’s intelligent and highly capable of kicking the ex-delta forces hero’s ass yet she has relatable vulnerabilities, she’s seen/done much in her lifetime and it’s affected her outlook on life. I loved the hero, the tough alpha sheriff who won’t take no for an answer and can stand his own against adversity, his determination to make the heroine his is amazing considering the frustration she causes him and yes she really can kick his ass easily which would be a deterrent to most men. You don’t choose who you fall for in this life, it just happens when you meet that other person, and you need to see where it can go and the sheriff wants that chance, he’s also loyal, and tender when he cares for someone. Their dialogue which does often amuse also shows sassiness and stubbornness, they are a perfect match.

Huge number of characters, some with 2 and 3 names. Ridiculous number of "alphabet letter" agencies with no clear reason for their involvement. The ex-assassin theme was made known early on, and then it just kept being beat into the ground at every conceivable moment. It wasn't necessary. There was a lot of over explanation and not enough dialogue, especially among the main characters. I couldn't really see how there was such a strong developing relationship between Scout/Cassie and Trent Stone. Supposedly Trent is all alpha dominant especially in the bedroom, but I didn't find that in the sexual scenes. Maybe a little in the last one. She had to ask him/beg him to f*** her face. As a dominant I think he would have taken more control of that situation.
I usually enjoy sci-fi and paranormal, but in this case I had a hard time getting into the idea of a bunch of super soldier twins/ex-assassin/military/CIA people all living in a tiny town in Georgia. In the epilogue there was introduction of new information (dog training and terror attack in Atlanta) rather than just a wrap up of and solidification of the relationship. I guess the point is there is just way too much going on...

DNF @ 11%.

I have to be the only person among my goodread friends that can't get into books by this author. I tried again with this book and the same thing happened. The h has had feelings for her friend for a long time but he doesn't return her affection. She has anger issues so she fights in illegal underground cage fights. Just these two facts alone completely turned me off.

12 years ago Scout and her brother Bear were rescued by a SEAL, Colt, as they watched their sister Kate and the Colt's brother, Eric die in an explosion.

Now they have quietly become new people in Misty Grove but trouble keeps on finding them when they begin to have issues with a developed, Arnold Bowman who appears to be after their land.

The new sheriff, Trent Stone, kows something is up and the moment he spots "Cassandra Reed" he knows that he wants to keep her safe but he needs to keep a line between professional and personal especially when he realizes there seems to be many hidden agendas in Misty Grove.

Can Trent keep Cassie safe when he has no idea what he is really even up against?

This was a good book and I enjoyed it from start to finish.

I liked how tough Cassie was but I was interested in what was going on with her as she seemed to be getting weaker. She was super tight with her brother "Lucas" and with Colt Montgomery. Her relationship with promoter Wyatt Stratford seemed very complex and he was a guy that I didn't like very much.

I really liked Trent but he definitely had his hands full within his own department and everything that was going on in Misty Grove. I loved how protective he was of Cassie and how much he was willing to give up in order to protect her.

There was so much mystery going on that with certain people I was never entirely sure whose side they were on. I liked learning about the town and what it was based on and I am sure the author can get many stories from the characters in here!

There were some surprising moments that left me shocked and I am genuinely wanting to discover more about this town! The end was definitely a shock and I can't wait for more!

I love Victoria Paige books and have been working through her back catalogue. I read this after the Always and Guardians serials and it was a definite shift in direction. I also read fairly quickly on holiday and a couple of months later have come back and read again this time more slowly - man, does this book stand up to a second reading (I rarely second read Romance novels).
Very clever plot (a little far fetched at times but totally bought into the characters so I easily went with it) and Trent is probably now one of my top 3 heros. Hot, smart, loyal, alpha, honest, protective, and the sex - oh yes.

As with all VP book, excellent dialogue & secondary characters, nice slow build up to Trent & Cassies relationship. I love that this author lets characters really get to know each other - flaws, mistakes, and all - after the initial fiery attraction.
I had no doubts at the end that they were absolutely made to be together. I felt very envious that Cassie got Trent as her husband - he really is incredible.
The epilogue was perfection. Love a good epilogue after the HEA!.

Can not wait for Misty Grove #2.

stars for Fighting Chance by Victoria Page. This is book one in the Misty Grove Series. This is also the first book I have read by this author.
Trent is the new sheriff in town after the old one wand comes as murdered. He is investigating his death and comes face to face with the barrel of a shot gun. Cassie is on the other end of the gun. She does not trust outsiders and Trent is one. Cassie is unlike any women he knows. Soon mysterious things keep happening to Cassie. It seems someone wants to harm Cassie and Trent wants to keep her safe. Soon a deeper relationship is started between these two.
“The brilliance of your smile and twinkle in your eye are enough to nourish my jaded soul. Whenever you leap into my arms after a long day at work, you wash away the weariness of the day. And my heart, God, my heart, Cassie, it’s so full to bursting because it knows you’re my woman. You make me happy just being you.”
I am a huge fan of romantic suspense and this book hits all the right spots for that genre. I loved every second of it from the first to the last page. I am looking forward to reading more of this series.

When Trent Stone is appointed county sheriff, he’s given a directive to serve and protect the picturesque town and its secrets. Mere days in town boundaries, Trent knows there are deep secrets though noone’s talking about it. He’s also aware corruption is more than a word in his office and some people clearly have no respect for the law. For instance, several calls were made to a local rancher who may know something about the previous sheriff’s death, riding there to talk in person, and is greeted at the gate by a shotgun pointed at his chest by the steady hand of hazel eyed beauty, Cassandra ‘Cassie’ Reed. He’s in love!

Over the next few days it’s clear to Trent he doesn’t have all the information, people are openly divided about Cassie. One particular realtor is anxious to complain about Vee, hoping that will free up the land and someone keeps trying to kidnap her. Something tells Trent she is the heart of the town’s secret he should protect which fits in with his plans for her.

For this reader’s taste, the outing had plenty to enjoy. The mysterious secret and characters were highlights but I wasn’t a fan of the pacing.

This was a good read, you could tell the story was finding its legs a bit at times but over all did a good job. Sheriff Trent Stone knows Misty Groves is hiding he just doesn't know exactly what and if it's related to the previous sheriffs death or is he just being suspicious for no reason. Cassie and her brother now call Misty Grove their home and most of the folks living there know who they are and about their past and a lot of the folks have pasts that a normal person would flinch at. I liked how Trent had to try and earn his time with Cassie as well as show her Brother and the others he can be trusted but communication really isn't any of there forte which frustrates you at times. There are some good twists and a few surprises that keep you hooked I just wish Trent would have toned down the whole Alpha thing as it felt a bit too much, this hasn't put me off the series as it is only a small irk and looked forward to seeing who is up next and learning more about the town folk!
