I think the book fits more as a manual. It is full with steps and tips. Yet, linking the HR concepts to their underlying theories and models in other scientific field was not very satisfying to me.
Simple and kinda good book for introductory level readers. Cases in the end of the chapters and Asian perspective was useful. But whole book was not very satisfying to me. ~~ I got the highest score score on HR final exam in a very bad condition, lalala ;) ~
This is not an especially thrilling or well-written book, but it is useful for anyone who wishes to take on a leadership or management position over human beings. With especial attention to Canadian law, the authors give information about the ways in which human resources are recruited, used, motivated, reprimanded, and retained. It is most useful in a business setting, but can be adapted to non-profit or volunteer environments.
As far as textbooks go, this one was well laid out with a lot of good information. There are a lot of forms, examples, processes, etc. that will be very useful for my specific situation so this is actually a textbook that I will be keeping and making use of in the future.
Wonderful book especially for new HRM field clerks. Carefully arranged and written in easy language. I can say it'a a must-read for everybody interested in the HR field.
Gary Dessler's Human Resource Management book is a staple textbook for learning what HRM does in a company/organization as a department and a function. The book gives a solid explanation on what a HR manager's roles, what they should do and avoid, and what to do in situations where dilemmas (technical or ethical) occurs.
It is a must read for any HR Managers and students undertaking the Human Resource Management course.
the book explains a thorough understanding of Human Resources Management. though during the time of 4.0 IR, I believe HRM issues need other solutions during the pandemic and prevent other unpredictable conundrums.
