Rate this book
A champion bull rider, a barrel racing winner, and the ride of a lifetime as these enemies attempt to become lovers.

Ethan Greene, a former champion bull rider, has walked away from the adrenaline-fueled life of the rodeo circuit, determined to reinvent himself as a man of integrity and purpose at Three Rivers Ranch. However, when fiery barrel racing champion Brynn Bowman appears on his doorstep, asking him to join a two-person roping team, he can't resist the chance to help an old friend, even if it means returning to the life he thought he'd left behind.

Even if it means spending time with Brynn, who can’t stand the sight of him. He sure does like her…if only he could correct her untrue preconceived notions about him.

Brynn has spent her life in the saddle, driven by the pressure from her father and brother to become a rodeo barrel racing star. But beneath her tough exterior lies a secret longing to leave the circuit and pursue a different path. As she and Ethan navigate the challenges of the rodeo together, their undeniable chemistry sparks a connection neither of them saw coming.

Torn between their familial obligations and their hearts, can Ethan and Brynn embrace a different future together? Or will their hearts be broken on the rodeo circuit the way they have been before?

In this heartwarming Christian cowboy rodeo romance, two lost souls and driven champions are given the unexpected chance to find love, rekindle their faith, and live their small town dreams on the dusty trails of Three Rivers Ranch.

This was a good read. Brynn asks Ethan to participate in the rodeo. However, she does in on behalf of Tanner. Of course he accepts but things are complicated with these two. The good news is that in the end they make it work and they get their happy ending.

I listened to the audiobook narrated by Becky Doughty. This was a great story of 2 people struggling to become the people they want to be and to find the life they truly wanted to live

Ethan had a visitor at the ranch and she wanted him to go back to roping bulls and riding bulls. Ethan had no idea if he wanted to get back into that life. He did know he wanted to get to know Brynn better.
Brynn had told Ethan she did not date cowboys. She had no idea why she found herself wanting to get to know him better. Brynn did know she did not want to barrel race forever. Her only concern was telling her dad and brothers. Between practice and competing they found themselves tired and missing each other. I love these Christian romance books

Due to his newfound faith, Ethan Greene is a new man. And he wants to be a better man in the area of romance. Although he has dated before, Ethan's "old" method of pursuing love- brash and coming on strong- hasn't produced the lasting love he now seeks. So, taking a more patient, chivalrous route Ethan is trusting in God to fulfill his heart's longing to find that one special woman. His interest is piqued when champion barrel racer, Brynn Bowman, arrives at Three Rivers Ranch to convince Ethan to re-join the rodeo circuit he left behind years ago and join Tanner Wolf as roping partners. When Ethan agrees, a romance blooms between him and Brynn just as he had hoped. Since they compete in separate events, however, Ethan and Brynn find their time together is limited. When their tours go different routes and as Ethan is considering staying permanently with the rodeo as Brynn is planning her exit, the two face insecurities and struggles that may destroy their fragile romance.

Ethan's story in Eight Second Ride is probably one of my favorite stories thus far in the Three Rivers Ranch series. In past novels, Ethan is portrayed as arrogant, overconfident and overbearing in his pursuit of dates. However, Isaacson beautifully transforms his character in this novel reflecting his change of heart- and dating tactics- with his newfound faith. Ethan is more gentle (and gentlemanly!), humble, and just plain endearing! Isaacson also does a superb job navigating the reader through the complexities and emotional roller coaster of Ethan and Brynn's unique long-distance relationship. Sweet love story!

I love Liz Isaacson, her novels are truly wonderful! It is hard to find an author who can distinguish between a Christian Romance Novel and a Contemporary Romance Novel, but Ms. Isaacson does it and she does it well! I highly recommend every novel that I have read, and I hope that every novel I plan to read in the future is of the same quality!

"Eight Second Ride" was an interesting tale about the character Ethan, which has been alluded too in previous novels, and how God has truly transformed him from the inside out. In this novel we are draw out of Three Rivers, for the first time ever, where Ethan decided to rejoin the rodeo scene and meets the wonderful Brynn.

I am not sure what it was about this novel, but it hasn't been my favorite. I still recommend this novel to be read for I love all of Liz Isaacson's works thus far; however, this one seemed to drag on a little bit to me. I am not sure if it was because of all the new characters- and the fact it was away from Three Rivers- but for me it just didn't pop like some of the other stories.

I recommend this ten novel series, each one is better than the last. Very well written, it's like a story coming off the pages before your very eyes.

*I received this audiobook in exchange for my honest review*

Story: 5 stars

Ethan has a good life as a cowhand at Three Rivers Ranch, but is terribly lonely. Along comes the beautiful Brynn to try to talk him into rejoining as a favor to a mutual friend, Tanner. Ethan is trying to reinvent himself as a better man, NOT the man he was the first time he was a roper/bull rider. But God tells him he can be happy following this path and so he leaves.

Brynn feels like the only reason she is a champion barrel racer is to please her father and is disillusioned about the rodeo and cowboys, in particular. She is ready to put aside her rule not to date cowboys, though, when she meets Ethan.

An interesting switch takes place during the story and I felt invested in what these two would do and how they would work things out.

Narration: 4.5 stars

Ms. Doughty is such a good narrator! I love listening to her voice! The cadence, the accent, the expression...she is easy to listen to over an over!

The sixth book in the #1 bestselling Three Rivers Ranch Romance series, Eight Second Ride takes you beyond the ranch...to the rodeo.

Ethan Greene wants no part of the rodeo circuit he left six years ago. Instead, he's spent the last year reinventing himself, trying to become a man he can be proud of. But when feisty, champion barrel racer, Brynn Bowman, shows up at Three Rivers Ranch to recruit him to be the second part of a two-man roping team, Ethan finds himself saying yes--but only for one year, just to help out a friend.

Brynn's been riding horses since childhood, but she has a secret; she really wants to quit the rodeo circuit. Under pressure from her father and brother, Brynn keeps her desires to herself and promises she'll win the World Championship.

Brynn feels drawn to Ethan, though the two come from opposite ends of the universe. She wonders if she can trust him with her secret. Ethan, thinking Brynn to enjoy her career in rodeo, considers joining the circuit permanently. Can they find common ground upon which to build their relationship?

Brynn is a champion barrel racer who wants to leave the rodeo circuit. Ethan is being drawn back to the rodeo world and he might just want to stay but when he finds out Brynn's secret, what will he do? Will he stay or will he go? Can they have a happy ending together or will Ethan return to the person he used to be when he was actively bronc riding?

This is a sweet story with a cowboy/cowgirl rodeo background but a sweet love story in the foreground. I own the book but I listened to the audio version of the book and I enjoyed it very much. I thought the narration was pretty well done. I have now read or listened to several of the books in the Three Rivers Ranch series and I have enjoyed every one of them. It is nice to become reacquainted with characters from the previous books in the series, too.

The love of the rodeo circuit, is clearly shown in this story. It is the sixth in the THREE RIVER RANCH series, and hopefully not the last. They can be read separately, but the whole series is great. We meet Brynn, a barrel racer, still doing it, for her dad. She wants to retire, dates now and then. Dated a few times with Tanner, and when he wants her to convince and old friend to join the rodeo. She comes wearing old clothes, so much for following orders. Sparks flies, between her and Ethan, and surprises all, when he agrees. To be part of the two man roping team for a year. The love of the rodeo, love between Brynn and Ethan, this is another winner for Liz Isaacson. Given ARC for my honest opinion, of which I have given

This book certainly gives you a lot about what goes on in the rodeo circuit. I never realized how much money can be made. I enjoy watching a rodeo and know how dangerous it can be so it does make sense that there is that much money when one injury can kill a career.

It was interesting to watch how Brynn and Ethan dealt with their decisions about the rodeo. Both had very good careers and were champions but unlike Tanner who the rodeo was his life, they were not so sure. It also goes to show you to not make assumptions when you over hear conversations, especially when you did not hear it from the beginning.

Enjoyed this story very much, it keeps your interest right from the beginning.

Good clean romance

Another awesome book of this series. Retired rodeo cowboy comes out of retirement to help a buddy out for the season only to find a love that is as equal to his own to find happiness besides rodeo. Brynn is a world champion barrel racer that's thinking about retirement but doesn't want to admit it to her father. She has a strict no cowboys rule after her ex fiance left her for another woman and retired so he could follow her around the circuit. Read the story to see how their world collides and what happens.

Ethan Green gets persuaded to come back to the Rodeo, by none less than Brynn Bowman, Queen of the Barrel Ride, who acts on behalf of Tanner, his old friend. While Brynn contemplates quitting the rodeo life, Ethan seems to re-discover what he liked about it - so how can they combine that with their budding love for each other?
An interesting insight into rodeo life, with two very likeable and sometimes very confused characters (with some childish behaviourisms I would not expect in adults). All in all, a good plot and an interesting enough read for a couple of hours.

I enjoyed Ethan Greene and Brynn Bowman's story. The pace of the book was good and the development of the romance didn't seem rushed. It came about over a realistic period of time. Ethan and Brynn were well-developed characters that were easy to like. And Ethan's desire and struggle to be a better man made him all the more interesting. It is a clean, Christian romance. The only negative I have about this book is the numerous typographical errors including missing words and misspelled words.

Another wonderful book in this series. I just love how well thought out and researched her books are. I learned quite a bit about the goings on behind the scenes with rodeos. It seems to me the real cowboys were at Three Rivers Ranch doing real cowboy jobs. Rodeo people seem to be more like the athletes in other sports. I really loved the relationship between Ethan and Brynn. And once again joining up with the rest of the Three Rivers Family.

Eight Second Ride is a sweet, Christian, Texas romance about a rodeo cowboy and a nurse. It’s a nice story though I wonder about the changes in one of the characters from a previous book he was featured in, and I also really wish he would learn how to use a phone. I guess that would take away some of the drama, but sometimes I wonder about these book characters not having a lick of common sense.

The narrator does a nice job with this book and the rest of the series.

I had a free copy of this book, but this is my voluntary and honest opinion. Ethan Greene used to work the rodeo circuit, and doesn’t want back in it, but is convinced to do one year with a friend. He meets barrel racer, Brynn Bowman who also wants out of the rodeo life. When her father gets ill, she quits mid-season and Ethan loses track of her. The plot includes finding common ground, and finding God’s will for one’s life.

So good

This is another great installment of the 3 Rivers Ranch series. Not as much of this books centers on the ranch as usual, but the characters join in at the end. This book is more rodeo circuit. I liked the characters remaking themselves into what they want to become instead of letting their pasts rule their lives.

This book had a different feel than the previous books in the series, probably because it happens mostly on the circuit instead of the ranch. However, i still really enjoyed it. There were strong characters. The story definitely took a turn that i wasn’t expecting.

I received a complimentary copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

Wow! This story made me feel like I was right there at the rodeos. Ethan and Brynn are great characters. It really was a joy reading their interactions with each other. And of course we get to revisit the rest of the Three Rivers Ranch residents, both current and former.

Love Rodeo and All the Three Rivers Characters

I love all the Three Rivers characters, their individual issues, and the happy resolutions. It was interesting seeing Ethan's side of returning to rodeo and Bryn's desire to leave it. It's always heartwarming to see how the Three Rivers family rallies around and embraces their own.

Finding each other on the rodeo circuit seems perfect n some ways but with both of them ready to leave the rodeo and not sure of how to talk with each other about it. When a family illness pulls one of them off the circuit they grow apart. As the each realize that they want to be together each of them works to get to a point they can be together again.

Another great cowboy story.

I love characters from Three Rivers and it is great when they have their own story. It has been a while since I last read one but I am glad I came back. I plan to read more. Good story with strong characters.
