Following a crippling EMP attack against the USA, and a long merciless journey, college student turned survivalist, Danny Walker, finally makes it to his secure, rural location. No sooner does Danny arrive than he is given another petrifying prophetic vision of the chaos still to come. Hunger, despair, and panic will push desperate people to commit unthinkable acts against their fellow human beings. The country has been brought to its knees and the thin veneer of civility has been torn to shreds by the savagery lurking just below the surface. God’s providence and glory have been stripped away from the once-great United States of America, and the few remaining survivors come to understand just how dependent they were upon the blessings of the Almighty. With no electricity, computers, law enforcement, grocery stores, medical services, or other systems of support, Danny’s group will have to prepare to endure the coming onslaught of violence and upheaval on their own. Danny has survived the EMP, but will he live through the most vicious era in US history? Buy Ichabod, Book Two of Seven Cows, Ugly and Gaunt , and immerse yourself in a near-future, post-apocalyptic America! As with all books by Mark Goodwin, this book contains no profanity and no embarrassing sex scenes.

Danny has another prophetic dream foretelling the fall of the United States due to its abandonment of God. The dream was quite vivid and scary foretelling panic and chaos and man doing terrible things to his fellow man. After discussing his dream with the rest of the household they begin to prepare for the bad tidings to come. This band of survivors must also learn to live together, each has their own merits and faults and each must compromise. Goodwin weaves an interesting story of people living and loving together; also quite educational in preparing for life without electricity. Although Goodwin’s books usually highlight a portion of God’s Word, this series is overflowing with Scripture. Not that that’s necessarily a bad thing, but I’m sure it will turn off many people who were not expecting the volume. It is not preaching directed at readers, it is part of the story, it is part of Goodwin. Accept what he shares as education and a fine story. Kevin Pierce does an excellent job of narration as usual.

Compelling!

I have read quite a few stories about America after an EMP and this series is the best. The Christian viewpoint is well presented. This is a very sobering reminder of what may happen. I loved the scriptures chosen for this book.

Very Thought Provoking

This book will make you ask yourself what you would do if an EMP hit America and you were forced to fight for your life and the lives of your family and friends.

Any favorite book by Mark.so far

I don't know what it is , but something about Marks books keep me so deeply entrenched to every word that I have to conclude his gift to tell a story is a spiritual gift . Once again Mark shares his gift with us in Ichabod. Mark.wakes you up to the reality of a normal where God has granted His people their request to leave them alone . Wherever you are make time for this.book and get ready to pick up book 4 .

A definite survivalist novel

A bit more graphic than I'm used to from this author but probably exactly what our future holds. The small group of friends now find themselves the target of a war lord. Who will lead, who will follow, who will die. A realistic picture of life after an EMP.

Hard to get through

The first in the series was readable, however, this one I couldn’t make it through. It is filled with nonsense, unbelievable;y corny dialogue, a real disappointment, sorry author.

Mark Goodwin keeps delivering

This guy has an unbelievable imagination and it’s downright scary how realistic the possibilities are of these things coming to fruition. If you’re not awake yet, grab this book now, there might not be a lot of time to waste before it’s too late.

Although this series' books seem to go a little quicker than previous, Goodwin continues to produce excellent material. Part 2 finds our group just after their arrival at Nana's house. Although this particular installment covers a short period of time with less massively world-changing events, it is one of the first depictions of the settling into post-EMP life that has truly looked at the morality and self-examination of the decisions that must be made in such a time. As always Goodwin's writing ability is nothing short of first class, and his characters remain deep and believable. The next book is looking like it should be even better than the second. I'm curious to see if he goes past three parts with this one, although, I would rather see a fourth to the Days of Noah series ahead of anything else.

Think

Can tell that a preacher wrote this book. Or perhaps Glen Beck. The main character borders on the unbelievable. Married but feminine. The rest? Pretty much the same. Put them in a situation like TEOTWAWKI and they wouldn't act the way they do in the book. Each book seems to be less than the one before. Is it progressive? Not sure that I would read again, and cannot see myself saying this about previous books by this author.

ANOTHER HOME RUN!

I've said so many nice things about author Mark Goodwin and his various Kindle books, I'm afraid folks might get tired of all the praise.

This book is just as well-written, just as clean (language and sex), just as intriguing in terms of plot and characters.

There is something positive in EVERY Mark Goodwin novel, for any and every kind of reader.

'Nuff said.

Good second installment in 7 cows series

Drops you right back in the action. Not quite as "preppery" as previous books but full of tactical situations and ethical dilemmas.

Great book and continued storyline.

Great book and continued storyline. The book does a great job of mixing theoretical storyline with very real possibilities of societal collapse.
