This book isn't for everyone. If you enjoy communicating with the written word, you'll appreciate this book. Otherwise, do yourself a favour and pass.
As someone who strives to write clear copy and improve her writing flair, I loved this book. It is an advisory book, and it might remind you of school and bulky textbooks, but this book does even more throw instructions at you.
Read as a writer, and you'll find the some of the best advice in this book. Read as a reader, and you'll have some great moments of wit and laughter. The author uses wonderful examples to illustrate his points; from real life incidents, from the presidents' speeches, from reputable publications.
It's surprising, but this isn't your typical boring how-to book. The author offers great quotes at the start of every chapter, making you think twice about vital writing elements like word choice, sentence structure, placement, emphasis, and word forms. If you're just starting a career in writing or exploring your opportunities, this book will help understand not just how to write, but also how not to. Williams (the author) offers alternative forms of writing a same sentence, so that as a reader, you can analyse the difference between each and employ the best in your own writing.
