Gyou Ryouta is a 18-year old university student. All he wanted was a normal school life and eventually get a cute girlfriend who will wear a frilly apron when he returns home. But this is a BL, and that's never the case. Instead, his apartment is haunted by a young delinquent ghost named Taiga Yamakawa who, for his own reasons, is there to stay. Ryouta usually hates the bully type but why does Taiga seem... cute? He cooks, cleans, and looks after him. Maybe living with a ghost is not so bad
To be honest, this manga didn't feel like it had an actual story, more like the outline of one. It was so rushed that we barely got to know the characters, and there was hardly any relationship building. When there isn't enough relationship building the relationship ends up lacking chemistry and, therefore, feels forced. This manga just didn't have the emotional weight or depth to make it any good.
As for the story itself: There definitely should've been more time given to making certain things feel more believable, but the overall premise wasn't too bad. The characters were cute, especially Taiga and his brother. The problem is that none of that matters when you aren't able to work within the limited parameters of a oneshot and produce a good story... and trust me, it can be done. What exactly was that sound that Taiki produced in the apartment next door to Gyou's and how did it make Taiga go transparent? That very important aspect of the story made me so confused that I ended up not enjoying anything about it.
Okay, let me breathe first because I'm confused and amused at the same time—and I don't know whether to pursue this amusement or just remain perplexed.
First of all, the whole premise of the story messes up with all the ghost theories I have in mind. Second, you just trashed the whole Ghost (1990) beautiful climax in my mind because of what you did! How about that skin-crawling, tear-jerking moment in Ghost (1990) when Demi Moore finally touched Patrick Swayze's hand? What about that touching moment, when all you can do is cry and cry because finally...?! Augh, this series made it look so easy. I don't know whether to laugh or cry.
In this series' defense though, Ryouta has a unique ability of not only being aware of supernatural existence but also being able to touch them. This part is what's amusing to me.
I could seriously use another volume of this. It just doesn't feel enough. Okay, this is actually interesting, I'll admit. But like, holding on to a ghost and living with them forever? Now, that's freaky. Come on, you gotta let go of the dead. Make them rest in peace! But at least give me another volume before letting go though! I need serious closure, and I haven't met the other sibling yet!
About the yaoi tag though... I think it's more shounen-ai to me, it's actually a pretty decent and fluffy read. Yuurei is so freaking cute! And when he wore that apron—it was everything!!!
I'm gutted there isn't more. This was so cute. I'm not sure why he's the only one to see the ghost or even touch him. The whole soft delinquent is adorable and there's still the sister to be introduced. A lot of potential for this one.

Well the Kindle edition sucks. So yes, go to other websites to read this manga. I started reading it at my Kindle first but the story started from nowhere and, as I said before, really scs.
It's a short, fun entertaining read. A young guy having a ghost in his room out of nowhere and it follows their being together ultimately.
But yes, it's frustrating to read about relationships involving paranormal beings, specially ghosts.
I read this because I wanted something quick and easy and it fulfilled that expectation. However, it was almost too quick to really feel any sort of attachment to any of the characters. I felt like there was hardly any build up to our main characters relationship and don't even ask me the names of our MCs when I barely finished it yesterday. It was really plot driven and even then, there was a pretty thin plot.
If you are just looking for something quick with a decent art style, then feel free to give this a try. I will say I was completely thrown off by the that kind of stuff always skeeves me out. It's not the main point of the plot but I was kinda thrown out of the story and ended up putting this down for a bit before being able to pick it up again. I am usually flying through a BL manga, but this one wasn't the best at holding my attention.
Not egregiously bad or anything, just not much of a standout for me either.
This was okay. It was kind of cute, but it was too short to really do anything meaningful. I think it was supposed to be multiple volumes, but it was never continued and it's really obvious, because there just wasn't much story except the bare minimum set up.
••••••• Gyou Ryouta is an 18 year old university student living on his own for the first time—except he’s not quite alone. The ghost of Taiga Yamakawa is there to clean up behind him and cook for him. Gyou attempts to exorcise Taiga at first, but when the ghost disappears for a few days, Gyou realizes he’s fallen for him.
So the story really doesn’t make sense—why is Taiga a ghost that can be touched and why can he do things around the house and go places? It was awesome for the little romance but it wasn’t developed.
That’s the thing, there were tons of plot points, but not enough meat to the story. I did like it and the artistry is really good. I believe this was the author’s first published book so I’m looking forward to seeing what else they give us! • • •
18-year old Gyou Ryouta just wants to lead a normal university life. But his apartment is haunted by a delinquent ghost, Taiga Yamakawa. Taiga, for his own reasons, wants to continue living in the apartment and offers to cook and keep house for Ryouta in exchange. After some initial friction, the two seem to grow closer and enjoy each other’s company.
But what happens when the reason why Taiga is still haunting this realm finally appears? Will Ryuota be okay with finally saying goodbye to his grumpy but endearing ghost?
This was a cute and funny premise. Of course, it is on shaky ground but you need to suspend reality and logic for a bit. It may not be one of the best BL reads but makes for an enjoyable one-time perusal.
1.) The art was good, in as far as I'm qualified to judge as a non-artist. 2.) Kindle Unlimited title, meaning I at least didn't have to pay for this.
The Bad
1.) The story. The plot, if indeed that's what you'd call it, was all over the place - it's a thrown together mess of half-baked ideas that, done properly, could have been something approaching good. Unfortunately, none of these ideas are ever really fleshed out. Possessed By a Ghost is about a university student living in a flat with a ghost, and at first they don't get along and he tries to exorcise the ghost, but then the ghost offers to cook and clean in exchange for being allowed to stay, and then they get along better, and then the living guy randomly falls in love with the ghost dude, and then they reunite with ghost dude's still-living little brother... and so on, and so on. And if the way I'm conveying the plot here feels kind of disingenuous and rushed, well, that's because that's what it feels like to read. 2.) The... romance? Is that what this is? Because I mean... for one thing, one of the concerned parties here is, y'know, dead. And also technically still high school age which... yikes. But even if we ignore all that, there's literally no reason for them to like each other in the first place. There are no significant interactions outside of "hey, maybe don't banish me to the afterlife and I'll be your personal housekeeper" and, even stranger, there aren't even any indications that either of the two are physically attracted to each other. Ryouta's love confession comes completely out of nowhere, and worse, Taiga doesn't even acknowledge it before they jump right into established relationship territory. I'd be hard-pressed to say they've done enough to even be friends, let alone lovers. It's weird at best and outright uncomfortable at worst.
Conclusion
This... really wasn't worth my time. I can't honestly say I think it would be worth anyone else's either. It feels like the author just wanted to draw certain scenes, and then couldn't come up with a good enough story to tie it all together. The title says "Vol. 1", which suggests there will be a second instalment at some point, but how there can possibly be anything else worth adding to this nonsense is beyond me - I certainly won't be hanging around to find out.
A college student ends up renting a haunted apartment. The ghost is a young man who was killed in an accident, and he can't leave this world or rest until he knows his younger siblings, who he was taking care of at the time of his death, are okay.
At first the college student is resentful of the ghost. But then the ghost takes care of him, cooking, cleaning, spooning at night. Only the college student can see, hear and feel the ghost because he was born with the gift to do so.
Eventually the once het college student falls for the ghost and helps him see his family again. It looks like there should have been more volumes, but it wraps up pretty well with an HEA so no cliffhanger ending.
College freshman's new apartment is haunted. Even worse, it's the ghost of a delinquent!
Cute. Characters are likable. Clean and classic art style. Not exactly realistic, but then you knew that from the title, didn't you?
I must say the production value of the translation is, uh... not impressive. Typos, random extra letters, bad typography in the bubbles. I can't recall ever seeing these kind of mistakes in a manga translation before. It was mildly distracting. Also somebody seems confused about the MC's name, dunno if that's in the original or a translation error.
Some sex scenes toward the end, not super graphic, but the way ghost guy was drawn in them was a bit uncomfortable and inconsistent with his athletic/brawler background.
Did Cherry Magic just set the bar too high, because most of these boys’ love manga are not great? Another mediocre read. The premise is interesting, if a little unbelievable. Gyou, a college student, falls in love with a delinquent ghoul, Taiga, who is haunting his apartment. This is the opposite of slow burn. He falls for Taiga so fast. Is it just because he cooks and cleans? There was no buildup to their romance, so I didn’t really feel anything when they got together.
It is a sitting yaoi manga about a ghost, who is a delinquent. It is also a slice of life so it is more on a relaxing reading side. However, what I do not like about it is how to rush the romance development in this manga. Too fast. Nevertheless, it is still a good read, especially if you are looking for a quickie (it only has like 5.5 chapters).
I had wanted to read this since I first saw it. It could have had a bit more depth (like why even include the sister if you don’t even have her in the story?), but it was a cute, easy, light read. I don’t know if it’s worth full price or not but it’s one of the better free reads I’ve read recently, for sure.
It's a cute Manga and the art work is beautiful but the story kind of makes up obstacles that are resolved very conveniently and quickly with no explanation as to the what or why. "Here is your challenge but don't worry. We will magically resolve it two panels later."
More of a 3.5 rating, the art is so pretty but the story definitely needs more work. More build to the couple and more scene and spice from there. I feel like there was a lot of potential but it never really went there or if it did it just didn’t have enough depth or just more direct spice and build up.
I greatly enjoyed the story and hope there is more to come, but I would have enjoyed if it built up to some of the scenes. Because it quickly jumped in some places it felt a bit choppy. Still it is definitely worth a read.
This was cuter than I thought. There were just a few times where an extra word was added or missing a word, but I really enjoyed this. I'm really into the paranormal, so I enjoy stuff like this. Can't wait to read more.
Loved the two main characters, cute and loveable. I thought Taiga was funny, cute, and rebellious. Ryouta was funny and grew to like him and how his character warmed to Taiga.
Gyou Ryouta moves into an apartment that is haunted by Taiga Yamakawa. Taiga doesn't want to leave because he wants to know what has happened to his siblings after his death.
Gyou slowly develops feelings for Taiga as they get to know each other. It is a sweet quick read.
So darn cute!!! Their relationship started a little too quickly, you would think that's good we get to the good stuff right away. But too soon feels kinda forced, I wish we saw more of the development phase.
