Distractions

I gently nudged my arm against his. I jolted back in surprise as a hot, thrilling, tingling sensation ran up my arm when my bare skin brushed against his... Did he feel that sensation too? How does that happen from touching someone?

University student, Wiley Cayton's world turns upside down when she meets college newcomer Cameron Wilks. With his irresistible good looks, he seems to be nothing but a bad boy - a party-boy and a constant distraction. But is there more to the hottest guy on campus?

When Wiley finds out about Cameron's troubled past, she's determined to keep her distance and her previously shattered heart protected. But with him studying the same degree and falling in with her group of friends, she's drawn to him in unexplainable, illogical ways. How can one's heart overrule one's mind? Inevitably she falls for his charismatic charm and her insecurities take hold. Her life spirals out of control and she struggles to find balance between partying, sex and maintaining her scholarship grades.

With her future at risk, her family battle to keep her and Cameron apart, but that only weaves their love hate relationship tighter together. When a college prank goes horribly wrong - threads snap, and just when she needs him most, Cameron disappears. Is their tumultuous romance meant to be or is it just a temporary distraction?

Tania Joyce
Author review
4.5 Uni stars...

I couldn’t wait to finish this book to start my review, so here I am at 53% saying, I love that this story is set in Australia, but in particular Queensland my personal stomping ground. It has to be said, I adore the fact that I knew all of the places they lived, visited and landmarks. It is a highlight, as with the previous books written by Tania. I enjoy her writing style.

Now here I am at 100% and I’m slightly in love.... with this story, and the characters. This was a great read, I’m even going to go as far as saying, this is the best of the Tania Joyce’s books and that is a huge feat considering Nate and Jessica in Propositions.

This is a different story of young love, the reality of tertiary education and laying way to much on your own shoulders. For Wiley Cayton, her final year of university, will literally be everything she has worked towards. She has her tuition paid for through a scholarship, an internship when she finishes, what she didn’t expect was a young man to turn her world upside down. Her 1st day back at USQ, Toowoomba has her returning after a summer break from hell, being cheated on by her ex-boyfriend and a broken heart, this year nothing and no one will interfere With her schooling and more importantly her plans to finish with highest honour’s. What she didn’t expect was a pair of the bluest eyes that bring her to her knees.

Cameron Wilks, has come from a past he’d rather forget. He’s now looking forward to his university degree before he returns to his parents clutches... Unbeknownst to Wiley, Cameron is the son of mining magnate Robert Wilks and more than well off. Although he is new eye candy for the Uni, he only has eyes for Wiley, and it isn’t long until before she gives into him. All of a sudden her total on track plans, go wayward with a pretty damn hot relationship with Cameron. Once a week outings, turn to sleep overs and parties nearly every night. No surprise, her grades suffer majorly and her plans start to fall apart.

As Wiley attempts to take a step back from their relationship, she not only hurts herself but she discovers that the feelings she has for Cameron are much more than skin deep. But with his family’s wealth, his tragic past and her overbearing mother Wiley becomes lost, that will change her future forever. Fun, laughter, love and tragic news will reshape Wiley’s world, but it will depend on how she plays it. Take the bad and make it good, or let the news destroy everything she has worked for, including her young love Cameron.

This was fantastic, loved every minute, just wished there was more of a epilogue ending, instead of just cut off.

Distractions by Tania Joyce

Distractions is about a college student named Wilhelmina Cayton who goes by Wiley. She has a best friend named Kelly Harp who also attends USQ (University of Southern Queensland). Wiley is focused on doing her best and keeping her grades up since she is on a scholarship. She doesn’t want any distractions, that means no boyfriends. A mystery guy looked at Wiley and her heart skipped a beat. That guy is Cameron Wilks. Will Cameron be a distraction to Wiley or will college life be? You’ll have to find out to read it.

Tania Joyce keeps you wanting more. I really like her books and how right from the beginning, middle to the end is easy reading. The writing just captures you into the story and it feels like you are right there.
Obviously, my favorite character is Cameron. He is such a romantic guy! His life changed when he met Wiley. Wiley is another favorite of mine I love her devotion to getting good grades and how she feels about Cameron. The chemistry between those two was really interesting to read about.

Parts of the story I liked:
When something happened to Wiley, Cameron was right there.
“I thought talking to a friend would be better. That’s what I’d like to think you are. I don’t know what it is about you, Wiley, but something tells me I can trust you.”
“As he looked at me, a strange warmth settled around my heart. With no expectations other than friendship, something magical passed between us.”
“Yes it was scary. Someone’s stupid prank went horribly wrong and I’m lucky to be okay. When you go through something like that, it certainly puts things in perspective and you realize what’s important.”

Plot- 4.5/5
Characters- 5/5
Heat- 4/5
Writing Style- 4.5/5
Overall rating- 4.5

4.5 Great Stars! Wiley is in her last year of university with her future set and within her grasp when a sexy, handsome man turns it up side down. Cameron comes to University to try to forget his past and complete his degree before he has to return home. Wiley and Cameron have an undeniable attraction toward one another and this causes Wiley's plans to go wayward. Wiley's grades start to fall and her family tries to keep them apart but this only causes their bond to grow. Will Wiley and Cameron be torn apart or can they overcome their problems and be together? Ms. Joyce writes a well written story and the characters chemistry was great. I thoroughly enjoyed this story and found myself unable to put it down. This is the first book by this author that I have read and I look forward to reading more from her. This is a stand alone novel and a must read! Highly recommend!

I received this book as an ARC for an honest review. This book was read and reviewed by Annamaria for Alpha Book Club.

Wiley and Cameron, what a great story, one of this authors best writings.

Wiley is in her last year of uni (university) and she has worked here butt off to be where she is, she has maintained her GPA at 6 to keep her scholarship, and then in walks mr hot stuff Cameron and let the distractions begin.

Wiley is doing everything she can to make her life work now that she has a new boyfriend, but itxs not working so well, her grades are slipping (making her in danger of losing her scholarship) and then just when she thinks things cannot get any worse, things happen that make Cameron rethink their relationship. The emotional turmoil that Wiley goes through while they are apart makes my heart hurt.

Going through so many ups and downs we are left wondering if Cameron and Wiley's relationship will survive and will all Wiley's hard work at school pay off so that she can land her dream job???

Loved this book

Wiley wants to focus on studying, but meeting Cameron changes her priorities. Cameron does not really know what he wants, but Wiley makes his life better and gives him something to work towards. Issues of trust strain their relationship, and the two must decide if it is worth the struggle to make it work.

I feel like this book would be better categorized as a YA book. My review is reflecting that instead of it being NA or Contemporary book. The characters actions and dialogue are not realistic to their ages. Had this been a high school setting, it would have made more sense. The book would have been more enjoyable as well, because I spent a good bit of time being frustrated with what was happening. I did enjoy that it was set in Australia. It was nice to read something different than what I normally read.

Cameron Wilkes can distract me whenever he pleases...

Wiley becomes distracted by one hot and sexy man while in her last year at University.
The problem with that? She just came off of summer break where she's left broken hearted by her ex. She decided to work hard toward getting honors in her senior year.

But at last, Cameron Wilkes, beautiful eyed male he is, disrupts it all.

Will Wiley get her act together and work towards her original goal or will she fall hook, line, and sinker, for the Hot Adonis distracting her?

I loved this book and that it took place in another country, Australia. Beautiful story and totally recommend reading it!

I really like this book - I think it is one of the best she has written. The attraction between Wiley (Wilhelmina - "no one could spell it - let alone pronounce it!) and Cameron sizzles and dies and sizzles again - I love a happy ending!
College life, family life and dramas and of course an explosive romance combine to make this a great read.
Look forward to more from this author!

Wiley is in her last year of college and determined to have no distractions to her goal of graduating and starting her internship until Cameron walked in. The electricity between the two can't be denied. This was a great story about overcoming distractions in our life to get what we really want.

Loved this book. The emotion practically jumped off the pages. I just wanted to keep on reading to see what happened the next day, the next week, the next year and so on. I thought the characters were quite genuine and it was great to see how their past could impact their here and now. I can't wait for next book by Tania Joyce.

Cameron sure is a creative guy when it comes time for doing the naughty, “there’s a kitchen bench, the floor, the bathroom. I certainly don’t need furniture.” He kissed me, getting steamier by the second." I really liked this book.

A beautiful love story with just enough twists and turns. Only thing I would have liked more is if Cameron was a bit more bad boy and edgy. But alas all is well in my reading world....We can't all love bad boys

In some ways I am torn on how to describe my response to the book. Basically, I loved and disliked Joyce's writing style. What I really liked was the overall story line, the push and pull of the characters, the turmoil and conflicts. Overall, I liked the characters and how she described all the major scenes and really made the setting pop and really made me feel like I was in the story going from place to place.

Normally, I am not a criticizer, but I have one pet peeve-rushing. Although I liked the overall story, I felt like the beginning was a little cliche' almost a Twilight rendition meeting with the wind changing directions, blowing, and Wiley feeling Cameron from across the yard. The build up was getting good and then everything just happened so fast. Then, the trust issues and accusations, etc. I just felt overwhelmed.

So, take a chance on it. Many loved it before me and many will love it after so I encourage you if you reading this and trying to decide to read it-go ahead. Like I said, the overall concept is good and reads really quickly.

I'm not usually a fan of instant-chemistry love stories but I really enjoyed Distractions!
When Wiley and Cameron meet, they're both starting their last year of University at USQ in Toowoomba. She's on a scholarship and she's always been an A-grade student. After breaking up with her cheating boyfriends she wants to spend the year studying and building her professional future.
Cameron, on the other hand, has just transferred to USQ, and he's trying to overcome a tragic event.
Their mutual attraction is immediate and off-the-charts, and they cannot get enough of each other. Unfortunately, this causes Wiley to neglect her studies and, as a result, she might lose her scholarship and everything she's worked for.
As the story progresses, Cameron and Wiley fall for each other but, at the same time, they have to face trust issues and understand if their love is really worth it.

Wiley who is on a college scholarship finds herself distracted by the gorgeous new guy on campus,, Cameron. They both have broken hearts, hers from a breakup and his from the death of his girlfriend. Their attraction is immediate and their chemistry off the charts. When her grades slip, her parents try to keep them apart which just makes them want to be together more. Lots of emotion, drama and the struggles of young love. Well written with a strong story line and interesting characters. I voluntarily chose to review an advance copy of this book.

I absolutely loved reading this story about Wilhelmina (Wiley) and Cameron (Cam). The story was medium paced, interesting characters who had depth and emotion. Their lives were realistic and I could understand the angst that they went through. It was fitting that their story ended up on New Year's Eve as we now celebrate 2018. I am glad that everything worked out for Cam and Wiley and they had their HEA. I voluntarily received an Advanced Readers Copy of this book.

**First Reads**

I enjoyed reading the book although I found myself having to forcefully continue to read. I feel like this type of story has been done many times over. Girl meets boy, they fall in love, they fight, they make up, over come some family issues and then she finds out he's a multi millionaire. Personally I enjoy the more believable love stories. This really made me feel like I was reading a fairy tale.

I will read more of the authors work in the future.

This was just not my kind of story. I had a hard time trying to get into it. I felt like the characters description of her Insta connection was like she was trying too hard and then all the obstacles they had to go through just seemed unrealistic. There were logical explanation and it seemed to be made more dramatic then need.

I just couldn’t continue reading.
I was immensely bored. The characters felt flat, the plot was non existent and the writing was overly descriptive. It just failed to enrapture me.

Review: Distractions is the 3rd book I read by Tania Joyce. I have enjoyed author Joyce’s writing from the moment I read her first book, her writing is descriptive and detailed and often has a very good narrative. Her stories though not necessarily deep and profound they have a realistic feel to them.

Distractions is a new adult romance that explores the reality of two college students. Wiley a responsible, studious and intelligent young woman with a set goal in mind, graduate without major incidents, enjoy college life without much distraction and stay focus without being interrupted by any guys. As the story flows we get to know Wiley, a very sweet and caring girl with a focus in mind and high standards for herself. It is while we follow Wiley around campus that we get to know her friends and witness her relationship with them. While Wiley already have a certain history and heart break she doesn’t necessarily dwell much on that incident and has moved on with her life as a new semester starts.

It is during one of those campus escapades that we meet Cam, the sweet and unassuming guy, mysterious but approachable, sweet and funny but not the group clown, but the caring and young guy who attends the small town college with the intention to start anew, away from the chaos that was his life when his girlfriend died.

Distractions as the title entails, detail Wiley’s struggles to maintain focus on a goal while also allowing herself to enjoy life and the guy she has come to develop feelings for. From their interaction and college life to the way in which they establish their relationships, the author brings a lot of their everyday life into the story. I enjoyed seeing Wiley and Cam’s relationship grown from just friends to lovers. While the story at times slows down, the author manages to keep Wiley’s and Cam’s story entertaining giving us mundane details that only add to the overall charm and realistic feel of the story.

While the story didn’t go through deep and sorrowful situations, the author did a great job exposing Cam’s experience with the lost of a loved one. I think this story brought out the typical college drama that many of readers can find easy to identify with. Distractions clearly exposes & explores the ups and downs of college life, and how distracting love can be, but only when it is real. Wiley and Cam’s relationship went through the typical ups and downs, the story’s narrative and their characters made this story feel real and easily relatable, the ups and downs and the ins and out of young love is what makes Distractions a sweet & sexy read.

Another book that blows your mind away. It took me 2 weeks to finish this book because I stopped reading halfway. It was a little too overwhelming for me when Wiley and Cameron are constantly facing problems in their relationship. Its like the whole world is trying to break thrm apart. I feel for them really. But nevertheless, the ending is always perfect as usual. No cliffhanger, downright straight happily ever after. Tania has a way for getting into the hearts of her reader (well as least gets into my heart). I will smile unknowingly when I read happy stuffs about them and I will also feel the pain when their relationship has a problem. Its frustrations and happiness all together whilr reading this book. I really love Tania's books!

This book was given to me for an honest review

3 stars

This is your borderline college fairy tale. Two students meet at a party, they feel this intensity for one another and then the story develops. It's a very fast read and you like the characters in the book. It is your basic drama in college. You fall in love, you misinterpret things, you put yourself into a situation that causes problems, but in the end you have to decide if it is worth it. I liked Cameron in this book. He's new at the school but he has a background that makes him who he is. He has that excess baggage in this book, but when you find out what it is you really feel for him. He is really one of those good guys in college and I liked that a lot. Wiley is your scholarship student. She needs to keep up her grades to keep her scholarship, but when she meets Cameron things become blurred. She starts to live life, but is she going to be able to reel herself back in and make sure she stays on the right track. I did like most of the story line this couple have some things going on throughout the book, but it all seemed to make them stronger. What I love seeing is the families reacting to this couple in two different ways, its nice to see that each family has different things planned for their children. I think it was a little bit too dramatized at times, but the book itself was good. I didn't like the abrupt ending of the book and I feel we didnt get the whole finishing touches of the book.

This is my first time reading this author and I think it was a good book. I love college themed books and this one didn't disappoint. I hope to read more from this author at some point.

This was my first time reading anything by Tania Joyce ,and I must say that I thoroughly enjoyed this great story. Ms Joyce has given us a story that will engross us from start to finish ,and then will leave us wanting more from this author. Wiley is in her last year of university and with her future all set, and just about in her grasp ,but then out of no where hot and sexy Cameron comes to the university to forget about his past ,and to get his degree before it's time for him to return home. But Wiley and Cameron have an unmistakable attraction towards each other ,but this totally causes Wiley's plans to go wayward . Her grades start to slip and soon her family tries to keep them away from each other, but that other makes them grow and stronger and closer. But will Wiley and Cameron be torn apart or will their be able to overcome, any problem their have and be together? Or will they separate and go their only ways? Ms Joyce has written some really great characters with some amazing chemistry ,and when you put all that together you have a smooth flowing story. I could tell you more about this story ,but that would spoil it for you. I highly recommend that you read this amazing story, you won't be disappointed.

Received for an honest opinion.

To be honest, this book didn't really do it for me. I didn't like the overall feel of the book. I felt like it was a little bit droll. Cameron was confusing to me and I never warmed to Wiley. I also had small issues with some inaccuracies in language. Sorry!

Ms Joyce has written another book so well that I was ready to slap a couple of characters! I did not connect with the characters over all - that is because the characters were ones I do not tolerate in my life so found it difficult to relate to them. This shows good writing because I got involved in the story despite not liking these characters. I am sure that others will like the characters.
