I've definitely read this before but have no idea why I haven't reviewed it. The h in this one is 96% awesome as she is a bit pushy for him to get on a horse and his miracle op not for her of course but for him. I honestly think he was a big boy and would have got there in the end. She has her own career and makes good money though and is not a cryer or moper and she asserts her independence and what she wants pretty early on. The H is also a 97% because he let his ex mess with his head and his love mojo so felt pretty unworthy. However he gets the h pony that looks sad so I forgive him. This is a nice piece of fluff with HEA and not really tons of angst. The OW doesn't have the power to cause any mischief really.

First of all, you can tell an author's age by whether or not she puts the heroine in white shorts for a FR-eakin' picnic in a cow field. ((((sigh.)))) Oi.
Second, the whole, "I want you to pretend to be hot for me to make my ex jealous" thing would be fine, if he wasn't also saying, "no kisses", "okay, kisses", "no kisses", "there have to be kisses for it to be believable" every twenty seconds. Readers with whiplash, over here...!! Then we had "I love her", "I can't love her", "I love you", "I won't love you"... UGH!!!!!!!
Third, the overdone literary ploy of fiancée dumping hunk because he's injured is ridiculous. We live in an entitled society, now. The more medical conditions, the more attention the guy draws, the more benefits, the more special privileges, which would be RIGHT up her alley. Let's just be honest - she wouldn't leave him in the hospital. She'd get too much attention from it. Now her leaving him because he's emotionally wrecked and crapping on her? That's plausible. But that's not what we have here. We have an overdone literary ploy.
Fourth, do your research on injuries. If you want him gored by a bull and muscle/nerve damage causing partial paralysis, fine. But a spinal injury - even an incomplete one at the lowest (L2) level - would result in some measure of incontinency as well as sexual dysfunction. This guy did NOT have an SCI, hello. Gored would've worked fine. SCI does NOT work with the author's description of his, erm, *prowess*.
Fifth, the SPELLING. Homigosh. She didn't secure the 'runs' (reins) and fell from the cart. "Give me a few aspirin and I'll be finen." (fine). And there are a LOT of errors like this throughout. That's what proofreaders, friends... editors?!... are for. One or two are annoying but forgivable. This many was bad.
Sixth, 'some experimental process' always exists with these people, so that a *miracle* recovery can be made. It's a cop-out, and I hate every one of them. It's poor writing, IMHO.
Nothing special. Quick read but it took me long, because I couldn't really get into that story. They were both bland and irritating: They guy had a rodeo accident 2 years ago, his then-fiancee left him after telling him no woman would want to be tied a crippled... That was mean and hurt his ego. Now he is insecure and bitter, he met the girl and wants her, but since he thinks he is not good enough cause he can't walk, he pushed her away and tried to "pretend" The girl was into him since day 1 but she really believed he was pretending.... Those two didn't think they could sit and truly talk about their feelings. Good think it was a short book
This was a cute read which provided good escape. I liked Kelley's determination to change Kit's mind about his disability. I did think parts of the plot were too contrived and could have used more development.
It is really cute and inspiring to people who are disabled and think they are out of the game. That one special someone has to come along and keep push you forward when you push back so it is like a game of tug and pull
I enjoyed this quick read about a former rodeo cowboy disabled in a bull-riding accident who meets his match in a spirited children's book author and illustrator. Since the accident, everyone has been tip-toeing around Kit, who used to be a hell-raiser, but now just has a chip on his shoulder. At first, Kelly doesn't know about the disability, so she stands up to him and tries to put him in his place. Even after she learns the truth, she doesn't treat Kit any different. This is refreshing for Kit, since he's tired of the pity he gets from everyone else. The attraction is instant, even if Kit tries to fight it. Kelly hopes that this town and these people can finally be her family, but Kit is reluctant to tie Kelly to himself when he thinks he is less than a whole man. This is a great story about what love and determination can do.
I love country romances...but wow to this one...to have a cowboy starting out in the book in a wheelchair that is something different. You never read in a book about the cowboy being paralyzed..this time you will. Kit has anger and it has reason....Kelly, (I just adored) stood up to him and pushed him...would love to read more about his surgery and rehab with Kelly...and how she stood beside him during this time. If you want a good read about a hurt cowboy and Kelly (a children's author) then this is the book for you. I guess I related to some of it as a I lived with a paralyzed person in the house. This book was right on about a lot of things and emotions that the injured person goes through. Kudos to Barbara.
I liked this book - it was a quick read. The hero was so worried that the injuries he sustained in his rodeo accident were too severe for him to ever be with another woman. His ex did a real number on him - telling him how hideous his scars & injuries were. The heroine was great - the thing she wanted the most in the world was a family. Her mother was a single parent who died young, so she ended up in foster care. She moved to the hero's small town from San Francisco to try to find somewhere she belonged. I enjoyed reading about how she convinced the hero that he was the perfect man for her - just the way he was.
I really loved this romance. I had to read it in one setting. It is apx. 196 pages, so it wasn't too bad. It centers on Kit Lockard, he was hurt several years before and it left him partially crippled and very bitter. He almost runs over Kelly. She is new to town and was crossing a street when he came barreling at her in his truck. boy was she mad, but so was he because she called him a name. After their first meeting she found him quite fascinating. This is such a wonderful story and there is a lot going on. You will love it as I did
Quick, fast read. The editing in this one was much better but still an issue. The characters of Kit and Kelly were pretty likeable as were the supporting characters. A tad unrealistic but hey, it is fiction!
