I really like this writers ability to consistently create great installments to her series. This book was no exception. It was short, but made for a fun, quick and sweet shifter/vampire romance. I'll definitely read more of this writers work.

Very good

This was a very good quick read. It's not for youngsters, due to swearing, and sexual situations. However, it's very much for adults.

*WARNING* intended for mature audiences
I'm not usually a big fan of Vampire books, but this author is one of my favorites, so I thought I would give it a try. I'm glad I did! This isn't all fighting, blood, and yuck. It about someone who is lost to anger and betrayal. I'm definitely NOT a fan of Aric after the what was done back in the Harper's Mountain series, but this book gives a fuller picture of what he went through and who he is. I will be reading book 2 because this one was way better than I had anticipated. Thank you T.S. Joyce!

DELIGHTFULLY ENTERTAINING!!!
Title: King of the Asheville Coven
Series: Winterset Coven
Author: T S Joyce
Designation: Book One of Series, Standalone Vampire Romance Novella, NO Cliffhanger
Reading Platform: Kindle Unlimited
My Rating: Five Fangtastic Stars*****
I love sexy shifters, adore handsome vampires and simply can't resist dreamy romance but put them all together in one story and I'm in heaven! And that's exactly what T S Joyce has done with King of the Asheville Coven! It has everything you need for a great read and more! I've been a T S Joyce fan for years and literally devour everything she writes. I know before I read the first page of one of her stories, I'm guaranteed a fabulous adventure. Her books are always imaginative, original, well crafted and well edited and King of the Asheville Coven is no exception. I was thrilled when Joyce released this story proving yet again, she always listens to her readers. Like so many other fans, I fell in love with Aric Teague when he was first introduced in Joyce's Harper's Mountains Series. We clamored to know more about the sexy stoic vampire. Well, we asked and she answered! King of the Asheville Coven is a delightfully entertaining short novella with a beautifully written third person his and her perspective featuring handsome vampire firefighter Aric Teague and beautiful kindhearted rogue shifter Sadey Lowen as the two protagonists. Joyce does a fantastic job of including ample backstory in the book so it most definitely can be read as a standalone. However, to enrich your reading experience, I highly recommend also reading the Harper's Mountains Series. It's one decision I'm sure you'll never regret. If you're looking for a fast paced story with a seductive vampire hero and a sassy rare shifter heroine generously seasoned with heart-pounding drama, heart-stopping danger, heart-wrenching angst, heated attraction, sultry passion, dreamy romance and steamy sex, then this is most definitely the book for you. I laughed and I cried but by the end, I was happy satisfied and divinely entertained! No spoilers from me but I will say this....Sexy vampire king trying to fit in and save his coven-check! Beautiful unregistered rogue shifter running for her life-check! Hateful, evil villain-check! Heartbreaking angst, surprising attraction, undeniable passion, heartwarming romance and a sweet happy ever after-You bet! That and a whole lot more!
When reviewing a rating a book, there are several questions I always ask myself. First, did I like, love or hate the story? Well, that's easy. I loved it! T S Joyce never fails to deliver a well-crafted read but it's also so much more. Joyce is an exceptionally gifted storyteller who knows exactly how to draw her readers into the story. She grabs our attention, captures our hearts, tugs on our heartstrings and makes us beg for more!
Second, would I recommend this book? You bet and I am but only for adult readers since it does contain some dreamy love scenes.
Third, will I read this author again? Absolutely! Just as soon as she releases her next book!
And finally, was I entertained? Oh lawd, yes! Completely! I was glued to my chair, totally captivated, white-knuckling my ereader with my heart fluttering wildly in my chest. Fabulous entertainment and an awesome read! Bring on Book Two!

In Aric’s mind being the king wasn’t all it was cracked up to be. Yeah, he was the king of the coven by default of being the consort of the former totally bat crap crazy Queen who’d made him and then toyed with him for far too long. Her death was actually a relief, except there was that coven expected required revenge on the killers of the queen. Yeah, so they tried that and it didn’t turn out so well. Harper had retaliated and with a few burns that would be a constant reminder they came to a mutual agreement – the coven would leave town never to return. So, here he was working for the Winterset Fire Department with just about every other member of the crew openly mistrusting and hating him… after all, he was a vampire.

One accident will forever change two people’s lives – if for the better is yet to be determined. Sadey was dying, Aric could smell the woman’s blood, could feel the life force leaving her body – but the vehicle was in a dangerous position and if he didn’t do something fast they’d all be in more danger than they could handle. He made the decision to use his power and wretched her free of the wreck with only moments to spare. As he held her in his arms he smelled… more than human, he smelled fur. Great a shifter – but one whose eyes begged him to say nothing as she was taken away to the local hospital. He didn’t understand this compelling need to follow her, to watch over her. That she was in more trouble than this accident was becoming apparent, but why should he care one way or the other.

Sadey was an unregistered shifter and she had to get out of this hospital before the humans discovered that fact… or she was traced by the man she was running from Sadey was a rare cat shifter, so rare that there were only a handful of them (or so she’d been told). Those of her kind had formed a small group, with one mean, outrageous Alpha ruling over their every move. She’d escaped, but she knew he would track her down. She could leave no trace of what she was on record – she had to get out of here. So when her rescuer stood in the doorway she wasn’t really surprised to find that the staff saw things exactly her (or his) way and released her.

King of the Asheville Coven is such a fun, sexy, very short read. While Aric seemed a reluctant villain in the early Harper’s Mountains stories, there still was no doubt that he was a powerful vampire. It was nice to see this spin-off story that gave him more of a voice – and hopefully more of the coven’s stories in a related series (fingers crossed). Aric and Sadey were a perfect match – okay one was a vampire and the other a sifter… day / night. But it worked so well that I never doubted their relationship for a moment. I sincerely hope that the positive response to King of the Asheville Coven will result in Ms Joyce giving us the pleasure of a series about these vampires – I’d love to know more of them.

Oh boy this is going to be another hit.
T S Joyce really knows how to suck you right in,  I'm so sucked in that's for darn sure I started it and I couldn't put it down you see I saw Aric before there was a Harper's Mountain, he was so sexy then, but now OMG is he sexy and yes I wanted to read about him.
Aric Teague is a Vampire and the King of his Coven,  according to Aric he's in Nowheresville (Winterset), Iowa working at the Winterset Fire Department, trying very hard to prove himself to everyone in the department. Unfortunately all that went out the window on the next emergency call the SUV was hanging on two limbs of a tree it was going to go over. Aric forgot everyone knowing he had to save whoever was in that SUV, they smelt so good the blood but something else was good who was this lady, Aric needed to find out and fast.
Sadey Lowen is a rare shifter, thought to be extinct and she has not registered as a shifter  But the worst is Sadey was hiding, someone's  trying to kill her. Aric knows without a doubt NO ONE will hurt Sadey. I was gifted this book for an honest and truthful review.

Really enjoyable quick and dirty read. I haven't read the Harper's Mountains series, which this is a spin off, but it was still highly enjoyable as a stand alone. Aric is a vampire king who 1) hates being a vampire, and 2) hates being king, but steps up to both use his vampire abilities to be a fantastic fire fighter, and protect his clan when it was necessary. I feel like there's a lot I might have missed in terms of the origins of Aric's leadership in the other books, but he was still a richly-woven and fun character. Sadey Lowen is a rare shifter being hunted by an abusive ex who falls instantly and completely in love with Aric from the moment he saves her from dying in flames over a cliff. As meet-cutes go, it's pretty epic. The fun and sexiness doesn't stop from beginning to end, and although it's a quick read, there's plenty there to bite into. Free on Amazon with Kindle Unlimited.

T.S. Joyce...omg I loved it! It was such a nice surprise release. However, you seriously created a monster! WE WANT MORE of this coven! Garrett for instance. :)

Aric seemed to be a horrible bad vamp in Harper's Mountains. We actually sorta saw he was different though. He's really sweet and has a soul and heart. His coven is good as well. Just trying to make a home. Dont get me wrong..he's still crazy scary but only when he has to be. It was so hawt! They are wary of shifters considering what happened in Ashville. That sorta changes when he saves Sadey's life. She's a different shifter one thought not to exist. She's on the run. He forms an immediate bond to her. She's wary at first too but they just cant stay away. Just a great story. It was soo short but I want more girl!

Surprised

Very presently surprised. I love T. S. Joyce’s shifter books idk why I had any doubts about a vampire book, maybe because they had such a bad star in Harpers Mountains. I will say I very much enjoyed this. It was a quick short read and had some good steam as well. 5 stars.

Shallow, written in fast forward, insta love, no depth, pace, storyline or characterisation.

Waste of time

I used to love ts books but now she's churning them out so quickly all that fab writing has gone replaced by a money making machine.

She's been doing for at least the last 18 months. Thought I'd give her another shot as have read all of her early stuff but this is just rubbish.

No more.

Not bad but if you blink, you’ll miss it.

Not bad per se there’s really not much to this,if you blink you’ll miss it.
This is more or a speed bump than a story. If you were speeding by in a car ,this is soo small you’d miss it in a blink and never know it was there.

No offense to Ms. Joyce but if this was going to be this short and point less I really don’t know why she even ordered .
Aric seemed like he “might” be an interesting character to explore when we see him in the “BloodRunner” books, but I was on the fence.
Side characters in Max’s.Joyce’s book don’t always get much depth ( but then again sadly same can be said w/her MC’s) and Aric was a confusing character at the time, sure, sure he wanted to avoid a war his ppl couldn’t win,at the same time he tried to kill Aaron more than once. His motives were as murky as mud but then again that whole part of the story was really thin any way.
Like her it was like Aric was only there to serve a certain purpose. Little else.
I wasn’t around when this was written but I’m guess Aric only got a story because ppl asked for . There is NO depth here. There is just enough to barely say there is one.
Nothing even worth remembering . I say that Not to be mean in any way but because I was a little over 1/2 thru the story before I remembered I’d read this before . That’s where my sense of déjà vu came from.
Personally I don’t understand why the writer Ben bothered w/this story if she wasn’t going to make this into something.
Ms.Joyce’s MC’s move fast ,yeah, but at least usually there is some” getting to know you “ period before the biting and “bonding” begin.
Here
He’s says her as a firefighter, she goes over to “Thank him”, after bare,y saying “boo!” him on their first meeting, then they’re having sex and he bites and they “bond”.
Few days later he seeing her animal, swapping deep and meaningful’s and calling each other “mate”.
The ex she’s running from shows up, he saves her and after a tiny bit of fluff ( last chapter )
The End.
Seriously, probably felt shorter to read then my review here does. Hopefully I’m offering you more.
I don’t know 🤔
😂
But while I wouldn’t recommend it ,was too much like opening up what you thought was a full bag or cotton candy only to find half of it isn’t there.
Soo yeah, a sweet bag of half empty fluff I think is a decent desc. of this book.
Now while this writers books rarely reach the level of length, depth or complexity most of us would like, she can damn sure do better then this.
I wouldn’t recommend but there is worse out there.

This is the first book in this series but it’s also a spin-off of the Damon’s mountain series. This series is about Aric’s vampire coven. Aric isn’t like other vampires. He still has feelings and emotions. He has moved his coven to a new location after their run in with Harper’s crew. The last thing he needs are any more complications in his life. Then while on a run with his new firehouse he finds just that. He doesn’t know why he wants her to survive more than any other person but he does. He feels like she is important, big. Then he gets a surprise she is an unregistered shifter. Sadey can’t believe her luck. She was rescued by a vampire. He is keeping her secrets though and making sure no one else finds out her secret either. There is something about him though. Sure, he is super-hot but there is something else there too. How will Aric’s coven react when they find out? Then there is the fact that Sadey is on the run from someone as well. I really liked getting to see a different side of the coven from the one that attacked Harper’s crew. They really aren’t that bad. They had a few bad apples but the rest are great. This book was on the short side but still a good read. I love the Damon’s mountain series and I love getting to read any book related to it. I am excited to read the next book in the series. The characters in this book are great and I can’t wait to read more about them.

I would say Aric is a very different type of vampire from the ones I'm used to in PNR, in that he's not incredibly alpha. Yes, he is the king of his vampire coven but he doesn't exude that dominant alpha vibe. In fact, he's quite... sweet. lol
He was easy with his compliments, and an easy smiler. He was sensitive when she'd had a rough day, and she could tell he tried to tamp his brutal vampire instincts around her.

Yes, he sounds like any regular guy, wanting to please his girl. Not like a hot sexy take-charge vamp. But it is explained that he was turned against his will and that he loved his life as a human, which I suppose is why he still remains very human-like despite his kingly status.

I've always liked the trope of one mate helping the other to heal from the wounds of the past, and this is what we get in this story. In fact, in this story Aric and Sadey both help each other move past their wounds and regrets. Despite this being a fairly short story, TS Joyce didn't disappoint.

I’ve been looking forward to reading Aric’s story since I finished the Harper Mtn series where he first appeared as bad guy to our beloved Harper Mt. Crew. We knew he wasn’t all bad though and I was excited to read more about him. I wasn’t sure when to read this series because it’s not show on the reading order list for these series but I guess anytime after you finish Harper Mtn series (I read it after the Kane series). It definitely ties in and you even get some Harper Mt characters appearing in this series. I feel a little bad because Aric is having a hard time fitting into his new area and he misses living in Asheville but it all turns out ok. These are more novella length but feel like complete novels.

King of the Asheville Coven is book one in the Winterset Coven series, a spinoff of the Harper's Mountains series. It’s less than 100 pages so I’m not sure whether it’s considered a short story or a novella.

Aric is a really sweet guy. He’s a much better leader for the vampire coven than that crazy Arabella was before she was killed. Aric is a firefighter and takes pride in saving people and doing a good job. Sadey is also a shifter, however very few know of her kinds' existence.

I liked both Aric and Sadey and wish there was more to this story. It's really, really short so there's not much story or action at all. But I did enjoy it.

This was my first book by TS Joyce and it won’t be my last. I really enjoyed the originality of the creatures she brought to life. The way I could picture them in my head as she described them in the book. I enjoyed the build of the story, slow but fast at the same time.
I really enjoyed the fierce passion and loyalty, the strength and courage Sadey exuded. And I loved Aric’s vulnerability, his loving nature, his heart.
The connection Sadey and Aric shared was fast, all-consuming, and beautiful.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book.

Vamp rescue shifter and falls in love.

Easy read. A story filled with heartwarming moments. A happily ever after. Story for those who love shifters and Vampires. Can be read alone but follows after Harper mountain series. I liked Aric and sad that things didn't work out in Harpers mountain but I am very glad he has a happy ending. T. S. Joyce writes stories that warm your heart, leaves you feeling happy. Her stories tends to linger. Highly recommended romance books.

Highly recommend all the books this author writes. Really, try them, simply because for an hour or three you get the perfect escape, complete with, in turns, snarly, tortured, goofie, harshly angry or just plain sizzlingly sexy alphas with as big a range of combinations in the ladies, but you always get heart and feels and snorts of sudden loud laughter. Honestly if shifter romance is your jam, T.S. Joyce has all the flavors.

Vampires and shifters

Aric was turned against his will and his maker was trying to start a war between the vampires and the shifters. She was killed so he became king of the coven and he moved them to Winterset. He also was a fireman and saved Sadey’s life when she was pushed off the road by her ex. They also had bonded which no one thought could happen, the coven accepted her as queen and got rid of her ex! So all was great! Love the book!

If you want a vampire who is human at heart, you need to read this. Aric is that guy who was turned against his will and now he is reluctantly in charge, having been forced to relocate his coven (otherwise known as a kiss) to a new municipality. It is not fun being the new kid in town - even for a vampire. Thank goodness for girls who are willing to see a guy for who he is, not just what he is.

No Ordinary Vamp

This is the first book of this series. It is a bit different. Instead of being all shifters it's about a king vampire and a very rare shifter. Sadey is just trying to move on. When she is ran off the road by a huge jerk of a man. And Arik being in the fire department raced to her rescue. And was able to rescue her just before her vehicle rolled down a steep hill. And then it starts.
