SUMMER PRESCOTT BOOKS is thrilled to present the first boxed set in the hugely popular Darling Deli series by Cozy Author Patti Benning!!!!
Enjoy the first three books in one of the most delicious Cozy Culinary series ever, all in one volume, and at a special price! These mysterious and mouthwatering books will leave you hungry for more.
When Cozy Mystery author, Patti Benning, isn’t busy plotting the deaths of multiple fictitious characters, she loves to spend time hiking with her rescue dog, Max, who is her bestest writing buddy.
Patti loves to cook and the food in her books has been tried and tested in her very own kitchen. She’s technologically shy, and stays away from social media a great deal, because it makes her feel more awkward and introverted than meeting someone face to face.
Writing is the perfect job for her because in her books, she gets to explore all the topics she loves, food, animals, crafts and reading. She loves her readers dearly, and is thankful for the opportunity to share with them through her work.
Kindle Unlimited, used to cozies, and tend to cut them slack, BUT...These are all as bad, and will do with review what the 'writer' did with the books, copy/paste cookie cutter. Each of these books are beyond stupid, as in stupid plots stupid situations stupid obvious solutions/killers, and no idea about what is being written about. She keeps writing about 'cooking' and judging by her 'expert' descriptions, she can't boil water. There are major plot flaws and issues and other problems in every single overpriced very short 'book' that still managed to do in every one without fixing glaring problems, one being redundancy of previous unneeded descriptions.

Pastrami Murder I love cozy mysteries but this one left a lot to be desired. It had the potential to be good with an interesting plot. The characters are not well-developed which caused the story to fall flat, IMO. There was little doubt as to who the murderer was although the why wasn't revealed until the end. Normally, the title has something to do with the story, in this case, it didn't. I found it odd that she could get to work at 10 am and have fresh, homemade soup ready to go for the lunch crowd. In my experience, it takes a while for soup to cook. I bought the box set of the first 3 books, so I will go ahead and read the next one to see if the series improves.
Corned Beef Murder I've now read the first 2 books in the series. I have the same thoughts as I did for book 1. The plot has potential but never lives up to it. The characters lack development. The entire setting lacks development. I still know nothing about the town or its inhabitants. The police are still stereotypes. David suspects Dante and confronts him and then...nothing. Dante obviously was hiding something but we never find out what. Maybe in the next book. Again, the murderer was obvious and the title had nothing to do with the story. The scene in the hotel was almost laughable instead of being climactic. Since I bought the box set of the first 3 books, I'll go ahead and read the next one.
Cold Cut Murder I've now read the first 3 books in the series. The same problems persist through all of them. The plot has promise but falls flat. The characters aren't well-developed. I still don't know anything about the setting--the deli or the town. The title had nothing to do with the story. Moira is still able to make a homemade soup in a very short time span. Getting to work at 10 am and having everything ready for lunch--typically by herself--is not realistic. And no, she doesn't start the soup the day before and finish it that morning. The murderer was once again the only logical person. However, in this case, he appears to be a serial killer from the things he says but that is never explained. I only read all 3 books because I bought the box set. I won't be reading any more of the series.
Book 1: Pastrami Murder = Moira Darling is the owner of a local del. The owner of a soup shopper (her competitor) was found dead and a bowl of her soup was found at the scene of the crime, making her a possibly suspect. With this news getting around town, she would be out of business soon enough. She had to find out who the killer was and soon.
Book 2: Corned Beef Murder = A storm was brewing and, in the midst, another body is found. It was Moira’s old friend, but was it really an accident?
Book 3: Cold Cut Murder = Moira opens up her deli and finds another body. It’s the death of a food critic, one that gave her a bad review. Was she a murder suspect…again?
Love the story line and character development. Easy to follow but difficult to predict the murder, which made for a great red. Didn’t care for the abrupt endings to the 2nd and 3rd stories. Would have liked a little more about the survivors and how they handled the discoveries.
It's a cute series. The series is set in a shop that offers soups and sandwiches (and salads in the spring/summer) along with deli cuts and cheeses from local sources.
This set includes the first three books in the series.
I liked the characters but guessing who did it was pretty easy--and I'm not one who can usually guess correctly. And this was true for all 3 stories.
Really enjoyed the setting and storylines, the characters are very likeable as well. Even the murderer is likeable most of the time! Plots are not too far fetched either.
This is a very fun little series to start. the first 3 books gave an interesting background to the characters. I'm hoping that the book series continues along this vein.
Beyong lame. You know who dunnit almost from the get go. This 40 something woman is naive to the extreme. There was no mystery, no romance, no nothing!
Three great stories in one collection. I hope there is more to come in this series. The Darling Deli is a great place to eat just don't get too close to its owner Moira as she is a magnet for trouble. Thoroughly enjoyed my visit.
