Taking Things Apart

A fully illustrated, bound book describing in a step-by-step fashion how to take apart discarded appliances in order to see how they work. It is an excellent opportunity for fathers to work with their sons (or daughters) for both of them to learn the use of tools, to discover how things work, how they are engineered, how they are controlled, etc. This is a primer for inspiring your children to become scientists and engineers. It is filled with descriptions and explanations about how various parts are manufactured and the technology behind them. All you need is an assortment of tools and old appliances found in the neighborhood trash, ranging from the household iron to an old lawnmower to a washing machine. (Nine appliances are covered in total.) This study makes for excellent team projects between two or three fathers and sons (or daughters).
