Intuitive Reiki for Our Times: Essential Techniques for Enhancing Your Practice

Rate this book
HEALTH /BODYWORK

Most Western Reiki practitioners are taught Reiki without acknowledgment of the integral role intuition can play in helping heal a client completely and permanently. Yet in Japan, practitioners must master the skill of using Reiki in an intuitive way at Shoden (entry) level before they are permitted to advance to the next level. In Intuitive Reiki for Our Times, Amy Rowland addresses the need for instruction in how to use intuition as a healing tool by presenting traditional techniques, both Western and Japanese, as well as new techniques that unite Reiki and intuition.

Rowland begins by focusing on the varieties of intuitive experience and the healing purposes such experiences serve. She then helps practitioners inventory their own intuitive abilities in order to establish a personal starting point for further development. Emphasizing self-guided study and continued learning through Reiki practice, rather than the customary transmission of techniques from master to student, Rowland offers fully illustrated instruction in techniques that certified Reiki practitioners and teachers can readily apply. She concludes with a series of interviews with well-known Reiki masters--including William Lee Rand, Mari Hall, and Jane Anne Narrin--in which these masters share stories of spiritual turning points in their lives and their experiences using Reiki in client and self-treatment.

AMY Z. ROWLAND, M.A., is best known for her books about Reiki, a form of bodywork and energy medicine, which she has been teaching since 1994, but she is happy when readers discover her other writing as well: fiction, nonfiction, and poetry. As a child, she was encouraged by her parents, who met each other in art school, to be creative. When she realized (at about age six) that focusing on becoming an artist would result in even more parental advice, she decided she would rather write. She hasn't really stopped since.

This reads much more as a memoir than a manual. Interesting, but gave me no skills.

Amy Rowland has a very easy writing style, with clear instructions and plenty of examples to help broaden the reader's understanding of intuitive Reiki. I recommend this book to any Reiki practitioner who wants to consider different techniques and viewpoints regarding the inclusion of intuitive messages into their Reiki practice.

I couldn't finish this book. I wasn't quite sure where it was going and I felt like she took a long time to get to the point. I am a psychic medium so i already use my intuition during Reiki treatments. Disappointed this book wasn't better.

Mix of personal experience with suggestions for reiki practitioners at all levels, any lineage. Mostly memoir with some resonating experiences - which is exactly what I needed/found during my library search - so it's a perfect "if you ask, it'll be given" response book.
