It's Independence Day, and Harper Johansen is at the rodeo in South Dakota on business. While she's deep in cowboy territory, she's hoping to meet a real cowboy-one who shares her dreams for the future. Shaw Donahue, tall and sexy in his cowboy hat, jeans, and boots, could be that man, and Harper quickly falls for his seductive charm. Until he tells her he's a roughneck. Shaw can't believe his luck. Harper is an accomplished, intelligent businesswoman, and she's beautiful, sexy, and willing. Until she learns he's working the local oil field. Good book

This is a good book, not full of that looking for reasons not to love each other garbage. There is some but it doesn't take over the plot.

In honor of Independence Day, I figured reading this book was apropos. Let's take a minute to appreciate this awesome cover. The fireworks! The patriotic colors! The slightly smarmy-looking cowboy! There's also the full title: All Hat No Cattle: A Red Hot and BOOM! Story. I love all of it. I also liked the book itself very much. It's a super quick read, but it's just the nice, fluffy story I was looking for.

Harper, who works for a soda company, is in South Dakota for business on Independence Day. She's working a rodeo event, where she hopes to find a cowboy of her own. Harper is dead-set on falling in love with a cowboy--meaning he has to be a real, genuine, honest-to-god horse-riding, cattle-owning kind of guy. The reasons for this are revealed in time, but at first I didn't understand Harper's fixation.

When Harper meets Shaw, her interest is peaked. He certainly looks the part, but more importantly, he's got the gentlemanly ways that make Harper melt. Then Harper finds out that Shaw is a "roughneck"--in his case, this means he works the oil fields rather than on a ranch or farm.

Harper is seriously disappointed because she and Shaw had an instant attraction to each other. She decides to be upfront with him from the start, explaining the reasons why they can't be more than friends. When Harper was young, she spent time with her grandparents on their ranch. It's these happy, fond memories that drive Harper's obsession with finding a cowboy she can live happily ever after with. She's hoping to recreate those happy moments from long ago.

Shaw isn't enthused by the idea of just being friends, but he agrees. He's hoping that Harper will change her mind, or maybe he can win her over. Even though this book is technically a novella, there's a lot of well-written sexual tension between Harper and Shaw. When they finally get together, it's almost a relief. But wait, there's more! Shaw has a secret that he hasn't shared with Harper--and it's one that might push her away for good.

I really liked this book. It's a fun, fluffy read. Although there's some conflict when Shaw's secret is revealed, it's resolved pretty quickly and without much angst. This is book #1 in the All Cowboy series and I'll likely be reading the next book. I recommend this one.

If there is something this sweet but short read did not lack for was romance. Our heroine, Harper, has her heart set on what she is looking for in the future. With a sort of reverse gold-digger syndrome, she is sick of the businessmen with great jobs, making loads of money as they sit behind a desk. She wants herself a cowboy, and not just the weekend warrior kind. She wants to marry herself an honest to goodness, full time, and wake up at the crack of dawn to work the ranch type of cowboy. Shaw is just that man. However upon realizing that Harper wants to nag herself a cowboy, he assumes she wants one for the land and money and sets about pretending that he is anything but a cowboy. Confused yet? Well let’s try this on for size. Somehow in the span of a few hours, Shaw has decided Harper is exactly the kind of woman he wants and sets about proving to her that they can be more than friends even though they can’t manage a conversation without half-truths and secrets. This all takes place in the span of a weekend.

All that aside, what I found lacking in instant chemistry the author was trying to get us to believe was behind Shaw’s insistence that he and Harper belong together, I found an abundance of in romance. The “aww” factor was off the charts. Shaw went so above and beyond in his gestures towards Harper that if she didn’t change her mind I would have changed it for her. I could definitely see the many reasons why Harper could fall in love with Shaw. His character is strong, independent and romantic. Unfortunately, Harper could have used some of his strong character. Aside from her reverse gold-digger syndrome, I found her weak as a female lead. I couldn’t see the draw Shaw felt for her character.

The secondary characters came in the form of Shaw’s friends who went to the rodeo with him. Now there’s a set of cowboys I am dying to read about

' I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review '

is at the Rodeo in South Dakota on business. While she is there she wants to try and find herself a cowboy. She doesn't want to be in the business that she is in forever. She has dreams of marrying a cowboy who shares the same dreams of hers of settling down on a Ranch. She meets the utterly sexy Shaw but when she finds out that he works on an oil field she tries to only be friends with him. But she feels an attraction to him that she just can't fight. Will she be able to give up her dream to be with Shaw?

Shaw found the woman of his dreams. Only thing is, she makes it clear up front that she wants someone with a Ranch. She shows signs of backing off when he says he works on an oil field. Shaw just happens to own a Ranch but he's not telling her that. He is bound and determined to change her mind without telling her that bit of information. He doesn't want to have to wonder if she is with him for him or for his Ranch.

My Opinion: I give this book 4 hearts. All I have to say is yum! Another spicy book from Randi Alexander. I have never been disappointed by one of her books. She always writes great characters and super sexy men. If you are looking for something spicy but want a quick read at the same time this book and any of her others are the way to go. I would love to see if she writes books about Shaw's friends and see if they find the perfect women. I definitely recommend reading.

First off this was a very short read. It took me just a few hours to finish but it was a cute fast read. I liked it for the most part but if you are looking for something different then this is not what you want. It has the typical good guy "cowboy" with perfect manners and the sexy body that knows how to treat a woman in and out of the bedroom.
It is a wam bam thank you ma'am love at first sight book. The only complication in the relationship is the woman that thinks she knows what she wants but is so wishy washy she isn't even sure if she knows what she wants. I was not a fan of the female lead, Harper. She was a little annoying to me and I wanted to just slap her upside the head. Everybody can't like all the characters right?
If you just want something simple to read and easy to follow and something to just take you away and let you relax for a few hours then this is the book for you. Like I said I enjoyed the story but I like a little more to my storys and I like to be kept on my toes wondering what is going to happen next? Is the girl/guy going to get the love of their life? With this I just knew from the beginning what was happening.

If you have a few hours to sit and enjoy a love story with a sexy cowboy then this is perfect for you.

It’s the 4th of July and part of Harper’s job is to word the rodeos. She has a dream of finding a real cowboy to build a future with and have the ranch of her dreams. She is tired of one night stands or hook-ups and has made up her mind to not date anyone without serious potential to be her dream cowboy.

Shaw has been looking for a woman like Harper since he is tired of hook-ups and is almost ready to settle down. He works the oilfields but that’s just temporary to get money to build his dreams.

I loved this story. It was a lot of fun with all the Fourth of July celebrations and the way Shaw courts Harper is swoon-worthy. The sexual tension is hot and the actual sex even hotter. There are lots of fireworks in this story!
The only thing I didn’t quite get was Harpers job. I couldn’t quite figure out exactly what it was that she does, but I sure would like a job that I had to watch the rodeos!

If you like Fourth of July celebrations, small towns, rodeos, smokin hot sex and happy endings oh and of course hot, sexy cowboys…This is definitely for you!

Fourth of July week in Belle Fourche, South Dakota and the Independence Day rodeo is just getting  started.
Harper Johansen is in town to work, and is getting ready to hand out samples of her beverages, when a cowboy suddenly
appears and helps her steady her load of beverages.   Harper has been looking for a honest to goodness cowboy
who can share her dreams of ranching and raising a family,  and she thinks she just may have found him.

Shaw Donahue is taken with the red haired beauty and can't wait to see her again.
Harper and Shaw seem to have a connection, but Harper finds after talking to him that he's a not a cowboy but a roughneck.
Shaw is convinced that this strong, smart women could be the one.  Now all he has to do is convince Harper in the few days
they have together, that he's the man of her dreams.

This story is packed with all the elements that make a great read and one that you'll be sure to enjoy more than once.
Short enough for a read floating in the pool or waiting for the fireworks to start.  It may be short, but it packs the punch
of a full length novel.  It will keep you reading to see how everything works out.

Hotness rating 4 out of 5

Randi Alexander is the master of short, hot, sexy reads. All Hat No Cattle is exactly what I've come to expect and love about Ms. Alexander and her cowboys. This book would be a great beach read. Sure to heat you up more than the hot summer day!

Harper Johansen's job takes her from rodeo to rodeo which works out well for her, actually. Her greatest fantasy in life is to marry a cowboy, live on a ranch, and raise a family on said ranch. Her greatest memories from her childhood was on her grandparents farm and she wants the same for her children.

When she meets bullrider Shaw Donahue at a rodeo she is quickly smitten. He's everything she's always wanted and more. The more they talk the faster she sees her fantasy life disappearing. Shaw is a roughneck, not a real cowboy.

This book has it all. The witty banter between Shaw and Harper is fun and entertaining. The supporting characters are funny and hot. The sex is even hotter. I am sure you will find this book as enjoyable as I did!

Harper knows what she wants, and won't settle for less. She 30 years old and ready to settle down with a man who shares her dreams of owning a ranch. She's looking for a cowboy, but she wasn't expecting Shaw. He may look the part with his cowboy hat, but he's a roughneck working the oilfields.

She said it plain and clear that she's looking for a man who wants to ranch and while he told her about his job in the oilfields but left out the part where he owns a ranch. He wants her to get to know him and make sure shes on the same page cause he sure can see a future with the firey redhead.

They have 5 days to get to know each other, can they see a future together or will past promises and one secret keep them apart?

Their story was sweet and I loved seeing Shaw and his persistance when he knows he's got something good. And Harper while a little misguided about her ideals i enjoyed seeing how she dealt with her feelings for someone who didn't quite meet her qualifications. Great short read.

I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads.

Harper is looking for a real live cowboy to settle down with. When she meets Shaw she is attracted to him but only prepared to be friends when she finds out he works in the oil fields. I liked this aspect of the story. Harper having to decide if love is more important than her goals in life.

Shaw is a gentleman, fun and a hot cowboy. But he has a secret he is not prepared to reveal to Harper just yet.

All Hat and No Cattle is a fun read. As a city girl I do love to read about cowboys so this was right up my ally. If you love cowboys this is a quick, enjoyable read that I'd recommend.

This was a very quick read. We meet Harper who's in town for the Rodeo for two reasons: Business and Personal. She's looking to settle down with a cowboy - someone who shares her vision for the future.
Meet Shaw, a kind cowboy who is in the right place at the right time.
They have great chemistry, and get to know each other through the course of the rodeo events.
Will they decide on more then friendship?

This was a sweet, albeit predictable, romance - involving adults over the age of 25 (which is refreshing).

I adored this story. Harper is searching for a soul mate, someone to share her dreams of settling down and running a ranch. She has had enough of men that are all hat, no cattle. In other words, a cowboy that doesn't just talk the talk but walks the walk. Shaw seems like the right one but his line of work has her wondering if they can makes things work.

Shaw is instantly attracted to the beautiful and down to earth Harper but does she want him for himself or just his ranch.

I think this is my new favorite, Randi Alexander book. It is heartwarming, romantic, and very sweet and sexy!! Great job!!!

This lovely novella about a woman who is pursuing a dream, but falls for seemingly the wrong man, is fun, fast and fabulous. The writing is sharp, the characters are well drawn from the start and the glimpse of the heat generated between them is perfect.

Perfect curl up in a chair and escape reality read!

Girl meets boy, wants boy to have ranch and falls for boy regardless! Harper is looking for a cowboy that wants to own a ranch like the one her grandparents owned while she was growing up. Shaw is a roughneck, but he's got a secret...he inherited a ranch from his uncle but he's not telling Harper that until he gets to know her a little better and when she finds out there are fireworks!

This was a quick read that was cute! I enjoyed the characters and storyline and felt that both were realistic...I just wish there was more to read!

The story has laughs, secrets, and heartbreak.

This is Harper and Shaw’s story. Harper wants to meet a cowboy and settle on a ranch. But when Shaw tells her he is working in the local oil field. She wonders why she keeps spending time with him. He is a cowboy and owns a ranch but will she want him for him or the ranch? Can they form a relationship while keeping secrets? Or are they doomed from their own lies.

I was able to connect with the characters and the story was a great read.

I recommend this book and can’t wait for the next story from this author.

What an awesome read!!!

I love a story filled with fun, romance and captivating characters.

This story shows that while having a plan is commendable, life really does move in mysterious ways.

And while setting goals and ideals works wonderfully in theory, when presented with the very thing you think you don’t want, reassessment is sometimes required.

Join Shaw and Harper as they navigate their way through a tentative friendship, to find shared dreams and love on the other side.

I liked that it was a nice quick read. Makes for a good poolside, beach, or just lounging on the couch read! I did find Harper's view on her wants in a relationship very selfish and preposterous. I had to overlook it and hope she changed her ways.
